What is Entrepreneurship?

The view towards entrepreneurship may differ from person to person still it can be defined as undertaking innovations, finance, and business acumen in an effort to transform innovations into economic goods. IIT Roorkee has produced some start ups namely; EduXgen, Techbuddy Consulting, Danpark, ZignDog, San Reco, Effino, Orthograft, Ambicales, Adister, Campus Fever etc. They started within campus and were successful even before TIEDA came into existence. One can very well imagine now how smooth will be the starting up procedure with the incubation opportunities offered by TIEDA coming into existence. Do make the best use!

Entrepreneurship Development Cell, IIT-R: The Entrepreneurship Development Cell of IITRoorkee, commonly known as EDC, has been established with the objective of creating, fostering and promoting the spirit of entrepreneurship among the youth of the nation. What is TIEDA?
If you have a technology idea or an innovation in any field of science and engineering then TIEDA is set up to help you promote them into product processes and services which have commercial value and are beneficial to society. Mentoring : A faculty member of IITR and people with extensive business or industry experience will mentor and closely monitor product development of the incubatee company. Market Research and Consultancy: Including services like Market, Customer and Competitor Research, Valuation of Businesses, Formulation of Marketing plans and Consulting on strategies at various stages of the business. Infrastructure Support: Include individual services such as personal office space, computers, internet and phone lines, furniture, accommodation etc. and a common pool of services and the institute infrastructure as per norms. Internship Support: For the purpose of support in management, incubatees can be assigned an MBA student, if desired. Financial Support: Seed funds will be available for registered companies. Goodwill of IITR: TIEDA is strongly supported by IIT-Roorkee a brand name which will help the incubatee to boom up using the vast pool of resources available in the institute.

Eligibilty:
Admission in TIEDA is open for all students and alumni of IIT Roorkee and the present faculty members. IITR's R&D partners, partner universities and Government agencies associated with IITR's research and innovations are also eligible for admission.

Process of Incubation:
During the two year period of incubation apart from the facilities mentioned above TIEDA will evaluate the performance of incubatee every 3 months. Registered companies may apply for seed fund and will also be provided with the opportunity to pitch their ideas for venture funding. Finally incubatee companies will leave the incubator under some predefined circumstances.

What is Business Incubation?

Business Incubators are designed specifically to help start-up firms by providing office space and leases, infrastructure, group insurance rates, business and technical assistance, assistance in funding and networking with other entrepreneurs

Incubation in TIEDA:
The type of proposals that TIEDA will incubate are those in which the products and services are generated either within IITR or belong to a faculty or a student of IITR (in case generated outside) or which strongly involve IITR faculty with or without usage of IITR's facilities.
