Recommendation

I Recommend in this experiment the other use of SCR not only in AC voltage but also what is the effect of thyristors or SCRs for varying DC supply voltage. use of more precise and accurate equipments to be used in such experiments like this, as such, we were able to achieve more understandable generalizations and also, the data gathered will yield to correct measurements of voltages and as well as achieving the correct waveforms. I also recommend the use of additional equipments such as the 12 volts AC power supply in order for us not to use an alternative equipment for this because it might affect to the output and measurements of voltages in this kind of experiment. As what we experienced, we gathered the wrong measurements of data and as a result, the output waveforms generated from this experiment were incorrect and therefore, the group have to start all over again because of this kind of problem encountered.

Glossary of Terms Break Over voltage It is the minimum forward voltage with gate being open, at which an SCR starts conducting heavily. In other words, the SCR is turned ON. Forward Current Rating It is the maximum anode current that an SCR is capable of passing without destruction. Gate It is used to trigger the device into conduction (latch it) by the application of a small voltage.

Gate-Turn-Off thyristor (GTO) It is specifically designed to be turned off by means of reverse triggering. Even then, reverse triggering requires fairly high current: typically 20% of the anode current. Holding Current It is the maximum anode current (with gate being open) at which the SCR is turned off from on condition. Holding Current Value low-current dropout

Peak Reverse Voltage It is the maximum reverse voltage that can be applied to an SCR without conducting in the reverse direction. Reverse-firing applying a negative voltage to the gate

Silicon-Controlled Rectifier(SCR) It is a four-layer (p-n-p-n) semiconductor device that doesn't allow current to flow until it is triggered and, once triggered, will only allow the flow of current in one direction.

Trigger to trigger or fire an SCR, voltage must be applied between the gate and cathode, positive to the gate and negative to the cathode. When testing an SCR, a momentary connection between the gate and anode is sufficient in polarity, intensity, and duration to trigger it.
