Homecoming 2011
Featured Alumnus: Ron Warnken
Ron Warnken (GK 387) was born
in Kansas City and graduated from
Southeast High. He came to Mizzou,
and signed a bid card for Lambda
Chi after attending a summer rush
party at the Stables. He remembers
his pledge class as being, a group of
really good, fun guys.
Dudley Bryant was Rons
big brother, and he also was the
member who got him to sign with
the house. Ron says his favorite
memories from his time in Lambda
Chi are the White Rose Formals
and Cider Swigs, Wednesday
night exchange dinners, which
were how he met his wife Sally (a
member of Delta Gamma), and the
pinning ceremony for his wife.
He graduated from Mizzou in
1957 with a degree in Geology.
Ron is retired from IBM and lives
in a suburb of Atlanta, Ga. with his
wife Sally, to whom he has been
married for 51 years. He currently
owns a consulting company that
does pro bono strategic planning
for environmental groups. They
have 2 sons and 4 grandchildren,
who all live near them.
Ron Graves, John Howald,
Rob Peterson and I worked 4
years to get National to agree to
give the Chapter back some of the
money they owed us, Ron says.
On 10/03/03 we had a very tough
summit meeting in Columbia
where they finally agreed that
they owed us money which the
Chapter later used to purchase the
house they now have.
Ron is a lifetime member of
the GKAA, and he and his wife
recently became lifetime members
of the Mizzou Alumni Association
as well.
Fun Fact
I wore a crew cut for 12 years
cool man!
Featured Undergraduate: Andy Krokstrom
Andy Krokstrom (GK 1624)
grew up in Chesterfeld, Mo. and
graduated from Marquette High
School in 2009. He joined Lambda
Chi because he had a lot of friends
in the house, and was impressed
with the chapters sports teams. I
meshed well with the other guys
because I found them to be more
genuine than other fraternities, he
says.
Andy says the most memorable
things about his time in Lambda Chi
so far have been winning Greek Week
and attending the Homecoming
football game against Oklahoma
in 2010 when Mizzou beat the
top-ranked team in the nation. He
serves as the chapters High Tau
(treasurer) and also on the executive
committee and housing corporation
board. He was previously High
Gamma (secretary). On campus, he
serves as a member of the Student
Organization Allocation Committee,
which approves funding for various
student organizations on campus.
Andy is a political science and
history major, and he will graduate
in May 2012. After graduation,
he hopes to attend law school and
after that, I dream to follow in my
grandfathers footsteps and become
a world-renowned fur trapper.
In Andys words...
On the associate member semester:
At the beginning of the semester the only
thing shared between each associate was
that they signed a similar looking bid card.
By the end of the year we had all become
good friends and developed meaningful
relationships.
