Associate 2007 2010 Consulted to clients on all pension related issues, primarily regarding defined benefit pension plans and retiree medical plans. Continuous experience dealing with multiple client engagements and responsibilities. Client industries included: governmental, financial, hospital, trade association, and manufacturing. Regularly informed clients of current funded status and projected funded status of plans. Information allowed the client to make cost effective tax leveraged decisions to fund the pension plan. Performed numerous pension risk profiles regarding clients and prospects pension plans. Prepared tables, exhibits, and charts providing a risk profile for the pension plans taking into account their assets and liabilities. Key information presented includes annual Value at Risk and projected expense calculations. Educated a clients employees on their pension plan by creating and delivering an in-depth presentation about the pension plan. Answered all employee questions concerning funding status, benefit accrual, and benefit security. Provided client with an annual cost projection for a proposed plan change on a short turnaround while lead consultant was unavailable. Developed method for calculating the cost impact, assembled a qualified team to review the work and deliverable, and delivered the results to the client before the deadline enabling client to report the appropriate cost information to board members for informed decision making. Provided multi-year funding projections for a client, which enabled them to prepare a budget to improve funding. Improved company valuation efficiency by training all new hires and interns on the data reconciliation process by creating and presenting a national presentation. Improved valuation process through the education of employees on setting of actuarial assumptions to be used for pension valuations with the development of a coaching guide to be used in conjunction with a previously developed national training course. Actuarial Analyst 2003 2007 Responsible for complete data process of a valuation; including collection of data from the client, loading data into the database, comparing it with historical data, sending out questions on missing or inconsistent data, calculating necessary data fields, finalizing database, using data to determine actuarial accrued liability, and developing cost calculations. Assisted local county government through collective bargaining process. This involved the cost valuation of many proposed plan changes for up to four different groups of collectively bargained employees. Also showed a numerical calculation of how the clients current pension benefits compared to other peer groups current benefits for selected individuals. Helped a financial institution with the cost-benefit analysis of changing their defined contribution pension plan by creating a spreadsheet that would analyze the savings of various changes to the plan.

Delivered benefit statements to a client by analyzing over 20 years of historical data from past valuation databases and old payroll data. Leadership of this complex project resulted in receiving the Examples of Excellence Award in the 2nd quarter of 2006. Consulted clients on other pension related issues.
