1M Pinoy pinagro-rosaryo
Kapayapaan sa buong mundo hangad ng kampanyang A Million Roses for the World
Ni Tina G. Santos

ILUNSAD ng Family Rosary Crusade-Philippines (FRCP) kahapon ang A Million Roses for the World (AMRoW), isang kampanyang naglalayong mahikayat ang hindi bababa sa isang milyong Pilipino na magrosaryo para sa pandaigdigang kapayapaan.
Nananawagan ang walong buwang kampanya na magdasal ang mga nananampalataya para sa isang bansa kada araw mula Lunes hanggang Sabado, mauuna ang Angola, simula Oct. 10 ngayong taon (Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary) hanggang sa May 30, 2012 (Feast of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary). The goal is to bring the peoples of all the nations to Jesus, His Father and the Holy Spirit through Mary Our Blessed Mother, sabi ni Howard Dee, vice chair ng FRCP at dating Philippine ambassador sa Vatican. (It is) to bring His peace, love and joy and tranquility to every people and every nation, no matter how great or how small, as a gift of love, faith and goodwill from the people of the Philippines, sabi ni Dee. AMRoW is the Filipinos response to Our Ladys call to pray the rosary, dagdag ni Loudette Zaragoza-Banson, chair ng steering committee ng proyekto. Our call to pray the rosary daily may be a small gesture for each of us, but it could grow to be a huge, vital catalyst for us to change hardened hearts and to lessen human suffering in all its forms, sabi ni Banson. The rosary will be our primary tool to bring Heaven in our midst. The rosaries we offer daily are like roses to beautify and spread that fragrance of true wholeness all over the world. It is not a daunting task if we do it together, dagdag pa niya.

In principle, there really is a need to devolve authority and resources to the field, and that proposal is consistent with that principle, ani Interior Secretary Jesse M. Robredo habang ipinagdiriwang ang ika-45 anibersaryo ng National Police Commission (Napolcom). I will support the proposal but insofar as the details are concerned, I think we have to thresh them out first, sabi ni Robredo kahapon.

This is thus far our highest ever improvement, and one of the highest ranking improvements by any country in the world in the past year, ani Lacierda. Thus, it is good to see that our efforts have manifested themselves in these rankings, particularly in the area of macroeconomic environment in which we jumped 14 places to 54th in the world, aniya. We are aware that the work does not end here. The report acknowledges that there remain challenges for us to hurdle and we agree, ani Lacierda. NBordadora, COAvendao

PLUNDER CASE NO. 6

The sense that we got is that shes serious about investigating this, sabi ni Araullo hinggil kay Morales, na dating hurado ng Korte Suprema. TJ Burgonio

Jerome Aning, Ryan Rosauro, Julie Alipala

Torn between two lovers
the same way as Raffie who is the love of my life. I dont know if Im just doing this because I miss Raffie or am I really falling for Junjie? I know that Junjie and I cant really be together because we both belong to someone else. I am really confused, I dont know what to do. Please help me. Godbless, Jermaine DEAR Jermaine, I was in the same boat many years ago and I can truly say that it is indeed difficult to keep a long distance relationship. Sometimes I wished that I could be transported by some magical force to be with the one I love. But reality bites back and Id just be waking up alone and longing for that someone who I missed like crazy. Now, we are luckier

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 2011

DEAR Joe, I am 19 and have been residing in the US for almost 10 months now. At first, I thought I was just going on a vacation but it turned out that I had to stay here for good to continue my studies.
I have a steady boyfriend back there, Raffie, who is a year older than I am. Hes sweet, caring, thoughtful, sensitive, smart, and a mature gentleman-- pretty much the type of guy any girl would dream of. The big problem, Joe, is that Raffie and I have so far spent just two weeks of our 11 month-relationship together because I had to leave. I know that its hard to make a long distance relationship work but with love and trust we somehow survive. I really dont have friends here, Joe. I meet people through the internet and there was this Filipino guy, Junjie, who was six years my senior. We became online friends and after four months we finally met. He was cute in person. Since that day, he emailed and visited me regularly. We confessed our crush on each other (although by the way, Junjie has a girlfriend in the Philippines). Its just infatuation, nothing bad could happen, right? He later admitted that he loved me and I believed him because I felt the same way too. I was falling, I still am. We knew

Love Notes
Joe D Mango

that our mutual understanding was unfair to all concerned so we kept our relationship a secret. Raffie knows that Junjie is just a friend. I love Raffie and he doesnt deserve to be treated this way. Surprisingly, Raffie recently told me that it was okay for me to find a boyfriend here to take care of me. He said that if we were really meant for each other, we will be together no matter what happens. I want to tell him the truth but I cant afford to loose him. I do care for Junjie but not in

because we have affordable technology at our disposal. But not even the best technology can bring us physically closer to the people we long to be with. Raffie probably never wanted you to leave but he didnt want to get in the way of your familys plan for you. Unfortunately, your vacation turned out to be an indefinite stay and the distance suddenly turned against your blossoming relationship. It is lonely in your new world. You may have your folks around but it will always take time for you to get used to the life in the US and your new circle of friends. In a distant relationship, loneliness can be our biggest enemy. In our effort to reach out, we may find a friend willing to help us adjust a lot easier, fill our emptiness and spend more time with us. Soon, the loneliness fades away and we begin to enjoy that per-

sons company. This constant togetherness becomes the bridge to unexpected closeness and intimacy. Now, you have allowed yourself to fall into the trap that most long distance couples get into. You have been unfair to Raffie but you cannot blame yourself either. We are just human and prone to making mistakes. We want to be happy but sometimes we dont realize that somebody else is paying for its price. Jermaine, the only way this long distance relationship would succeed is if both you and Raffie would find a way to be together. If that is far from being practical then Raffie was just being sensible when he said you can have a boyfriend to take care of you. It isnt closure but it is probably his subtle way of saying that your lives have to go on even without each other. Believe me, it is as hard for him as it is for you to be beyond

each others reach. Jermaine you did all this because you missed Raffie but you are still continuing it because you have already fallen for Junjie. You must realize that you cannot have them both at the same time. Be true to yourself and be honest with Raffie. He may find it painful to accept but Im sure he has prepared himself for the worst the day you left him. If he is really meant for you then destiny will bring him back in time. Your heart is speaking to you right now. Listen to what it is saying. It could be Raffie, Junjie or someone else. Just remember that your heart will find its rest where there is peace, joy and happiness. And it is where your heart rests that destiny will finally plant its seed. This is where love will finally grow and blossom forever.

KAWAY. Big winners sa 2011 Miss Resorts World Manila pageant sina, mula kaliwa, first runner up Kriza Argana, titleholder Princess Abella at second runner up Ladylyn Riva nang natapos ang patimpalak noong Agosto 28 sa Newport Performing Arts Theater sa Resorts World Manila complex sa Pasay PHOTOS BY RODEL ROTONI City.

Hotel chain extends generosity to PH

THE PHILIPPINE School for the Deaf in Pasay City had an early Christmas treat last Aug. 23 when the institution received donations from representatives of Berjaya Manila Hotel. Officers of Berjaya Manila Hotel in Makati City paid a visit to the governmentrun educational institution to donate towels, bedsheets and noodles for the schools dormitory and its students. Dr. Yolanda Capulong, the schools principal, led other administrators in receiving the donation from Berjaya Manila Hotel Manager Maria Aurora Rementilla, Senior HR Manager Jeanneth Cullano, Executive Housekeeper Maristela Del Rosario and Director of Sales and Marketing Carmelo De Gorostiza. The outreach project is in line with Berjaya Hotels and Resorts chains corporate social responsibility program conducted by its properties located in different parts of the world. Berjaya Manila Hotel extended to the Philippines the companys generosity initially to the Philippine School for the Deaf, but promised to embark on other charitable ventures to cover more beneficiaries in the future. Now I know why people call her Superstar. Shes a genius, but I dont think she knows this. Shes very serious with her work. She listens intently to instructions. She doesnt mind rehearsing scenes. Contrary to reports, shes never late. She comes to the set already made up and prepared. Thats why I never arrive late, either. I dont feel nervous working with her at all, but I feel giddy. I still couldnt believe that Im working with someone I idolized so much while growing up.

LIANA Liberato wrenches out the strongest performance in Trust.

THIS OR THAT
Review by Vives Anunciacion
Trust Directed by David Schwimmer GOOD performances save this screaming melodrama from o v e r - b l o w i n g i t s e l f. D a v i d Schwimmer (yeah, Ross from the TV series Friends) directs this somewhat-okay drama about a family torn apart after the daughter is victimized by an internet sexual predator. Young actress Liana Liberato wrenches out the strongest performance in the film as 14-yearold Annie who falls for a man over the Internet who initially pretends to be a high school senior. She ends up in a motel with her Internet boyfriend Charlie (Chris Henry Coffrey) who turns out to be much different from what he originally introduced himself to be. Liberato draws out myriad strong emotions that show her first as a sweet innocent girl in a typical loving middle-class family, and then after rape, balls her tightly into this emotionally disturbed young woman more attached to her online boyfriend than her clueless father Will (Clive Owen). It would have been great had this movie been about her and focused on her, but it looks like the filmmakers preferred to show a cautionary tale to scare negligent parents who are distanced from their feeling-lonely emo kids. Im not sure whether to say Clive Owens performance is good or accidentally superb. His character profile is that of your regular clichd successful father

(even made more clichd by making him an Advertising executive) trying to balance career and family life. But somewhere along the way, after many annoying shouting matches with his distraught wife Lynn (Catherine Keener), Owens Will becomes this person emotionally detached from reality who just cant understand what is happening to his family. I cant say if its genius on the part of Owen as an actor, or Im reading it too much in favor of Owens abilities. The message of this Pinoystyle melodrama might have been more relevant 10 years ago when mobile phones like the iPhone didnt have GPS capabilities that can help the police track down the location of suspects. The premise sounds like the story was a good idea to tell at the time when Internet chatting was just new. Im not saying these things dont happen anymore, Im just saying weve heard this story before, and the movie doesnt add any thing more to the discussion. Plus, Schwimmers camera placements are just inert. It might have been a better movie had Scwhimmer pushed the dark elements further, like the vengeful dad angle, but that would have made Trust resemble the Korean hit I Saw the Devil, a revenge drama about a secret agent who goes after a serial killer after his wife is killed, only to become as psychologically monstrous as the killer hims e l f. N o w t h a t w a s a g r e a t movie, trust me.

It was a total team effort today especially in the defensive end, wika ni Parks.

AUGUST DELA CRUZ

Salary Cap
TILA nakatulong pa ang maanghang na statement ni Alaska team owner Wilfred Uytengsu in last weeks press conference where he announced the resignation of Aces coach Tim Cone.

We didnt like it initially, sabi ni PBA chairman Mamerto Mondragon ng Rain or Shine. But we realized that we have to strengthen the teams and we have to make some adjustments. FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 2011
