The concept for this design relies on light permeability and transparency. The design aims to capture and utilise light as effectively as possible. This is accomplished in the direction the proposed building faces South, in the way the proposal flows with the contours of the site and in the shape of the building. The shape allows a larger facade on with a smaller site footprint. Light is controlled and manipulated in the upper sections of the hotel proposal and the lower accommodation section with the use of an aluminium finned facade. These fins are controlled by a climate-control system during the day to limit or increase solar gain, but they can be overridden in each room section by the occupier. This is so that each guest has the ability to control the privacy in their room.
Each room also has a bath located on the edge of their room in the bathroom section. These baths are a design feature that allow each guest the experience of bathing on the edge with stunning sea views. The restaurant is on the second floor of the hotel section. It is accessed either through the hotel via lift, or from outside by a 1:20 ramp traversing the edge of the first floor.

ALUMINIUM (POLISHED) CZECH NATIONAL LIBRARY 1:500 SITE CONTEXT The site is tiered and terraced. Access is facilitated by organic shaped ramps running the length of the site. These ramps take their form from the building proposal and they lead to a public area outside the pool. This area has a fire pit that can be enjoyed by anyone on specific days when it is lighten. EUROPEAN ASH (DECKING) USA/CANADA BORDER The colouring of the materials in this proposal come from colours on the site. Natural stone, aluminium, and tones of grey, white and black are used. These colours also represent the gradient of light, once again linking to the concept of light permeability and transparency. The interior makes use of off-white colours ranging from bisque to sea-shell, according to Dulux. These colours have been chosen because of their warmth. They are light, but do not have the same stark clinical effect as pure white does. The flooring is natural stone tiles, mostly dark grey and black tones continuing the pallet of materials that are seen on the exterior of the hotel proposal. They also contrast effectively with the interior colouring to create an overall aesthetically pleasing effect.

ELEVATION RENDER The Pier Approach area has also been redesigned to integrate with the hotel proposals landscaping. The Aruba bar has been removed to allow clear views of the sea, while a large fountain, reflecting the shape of the hotel proposal has been designed for the centre of the new plaza. This plaza area will also be covered with trattoria tables and chairs to emulate the feeling of European continental piazzas. This adds to the feeling of public inclusion that the hotel aims to create in the area.
