Multimedia/Triple play over GPON Multimedia, Triple play, Quadro play. Many names can be used to describe the new services being made available through our multimedia infrastructure CPEs. IP-TV, VoD, Online gaming, VoIP etc . all cre, ate new possible revenue streams for the network owner and their service providers. Sweden Telecoms GPON Residential Gateways is available with a single fiber interface, which is designed to deliver full multimedia services to its end user. The Residential Gateway provides an ideal solution for delivery of VoIP , High speed internet and IP-TV. The Residential Gateway can be provided with a separate third wavelength (incoming TV signal) and a analogue Coax outlet connecting to a TV or Set-top-box. Over the third wavelength, analogue, digital or even HDTV-signals can be sent. The Residential Gateways can be equipped with 802.11 WiFi and RJ11 VoIP-ports. Sweden Telecoms GPON series contains OLT, Splitters and various CPEs. Data and CATV distribution is integrated into one unit, saving both space and power. Delivering integrated and combined services like streaming HD IP-TV, VoD, VoIP Online Gaming, , etc. demands quite a bit of network resources. It is not enough to have the capacity. You want to maintain control and be able to prioritize traffic in relevant order. Sweden Telecoms Residential Gateways from the GPON serie uses GEM (GPON Encapsulation Method) to provide and maintain QoS in fiber optic networks. Another useful function is dynamic bandwidth control. With this function, a network owner or service provider can package and sell differentiated levels of internet services. You can offer customers everything from 1Mbit to 100Mbit access by using ingress and egress control. Sweden Telecoms GPON ONUs handle up to 2,5Gbit per second downstream and 1,25Gbit upstream. An extra wavelength (1550nm) can be added to deliver RF-video with broadcast technique. The growing needs on the market From providing the customer with basic internet access, the infrastructure shall now carry applic tions and services like VoIP IP-TV, Online gaming, Video on Demand, interactive-TV etc. The new , services require features like QoS, Dynamic bandwidth control, remote provisoning and secure traffic flows, and the increased number of CPEs rolled out under the network owners responsibility creates a need for powerful management possibilities. 2008

Sweden Telecoms GPON hardware architecture is implemented on a Xilinx Virtex 4 FPGA and provides all key functions for a complete GPON OLT compliant with ITU-T G.984.3. The Ethernet Gigabit interface and packet mapper provides the packet service flow to completely fill the 2488/1244 Mbps downstream/upstream link with data to 4096 port-IDs and 128 ONUs. The GEM interface provides a clear channel transport of 155 Mbps through the PON providing equipment suppliers flexibility on implementing TDM services. Upstream packet and TDM data are reassembled in the external DDR2 SDRAM. Sweden Telecoms GPON serie contains the whole chain from GPON OLT (based on a single FPGA device), passive Splitters and six different CPE models. Sweden Telecoms GPON serie provides a 2488 Mbps downstream PON link to be fully utilized with packet or TDM data over GEM.
