West of Windwhistle...
There is a romantic, adventurous spirit of the people who live in the shadow of New Zealand s Southern Alps, west of Windwhistle. The winter 2006 collection captures the essence of this special corner of the world. Old family photos of Granny, Grandpa and Uncle David skating on Lake Ida and wearing the most gorgeous outfits, along with the delightful tales of life on Broome Station in the Canterbury high country in the 1860 s as written by Lady Barker were sources of inspiration for the winter 2006 collection. Only 15 years after Canterbury was first settled by the pilgrims Lady Barker in Station Life in New Zealand describes skating trips to Lake Ida, a magical lake nestled in the shadow of the mountains on Ryton Station. Ryton Station is now operated by Mike and Karen Meares, old family friends, who continue to facilitate ice skating at Lake Ida every year. Ryton Station has many close links with Untouched World tm and two engaging past catalogue models live on the station - Pickles the sheep and Coin the sheepdog. The spirit of Untouched World t m lies not only within the dramatic landscape that inspires the design, but also in our desire to design for sustainability, in combination with sophistication, style and quality. We continue with our organic Merino and organic cotton sourcing programmes this winter. We believe that by supporting the little people who are making a difference now, we can grow together to create a better way of doing business, and hopefully encourage others to do the same. We are proud to bring you the inspirational stories of two Untouched World tm ambassadors reaching for the stars, Phil Keoghan, host of television show The Amazing Race and Adine Wilson, captain of the Silver Ferns. Adine Wilson
TAKING ON THE LEADERSHIP ROLE this year in the Silver Ferns has meant a whole new approach to life for captain Adine Wilson. Confirmed as captain mid-year after being touring captain when they played England in March, and for other matches, when previous captains Anna Rowberry and Belinda Colling were unavailable. Adine says she was over the moon when Silver Ferns coach Ruth Aitken asked her if she d like to be captain without the touring qualification. Since then, she s been working on becoming more organised, showing the others by example, and doing things properly not cutting corners or trying to find short cuts, she says. You have to be 100 per cent there and focused, and hopefully your example will spread to the others, Adine says. But they re such an experienced team, they know exactly what s required. It s the teamwork that Adine believes is special about the Silver Ferns. It doesn t matter whether you ve been in the team a long time or whether you re one of the younger ones, you know you can have a say and you ll be listened to. That s what I m learning to be good at listening to what the others say, and taking it into account when I have to make a decision. There s a culture in the team where you feel comfortable speaking up, where you feel you are valued. And I want to hold onto that. Taking responsibility for making calls on court is also something she s learning to accept. If I make the wrong call, I have to acknowledge that and take responsibility for that too. Adine says she still wants to be one of the girls but now that she s captain, she s realised she has to separate herself slightly, be more careful after a match when she might have to make a speech or perform some other official role. Asked if there was any indication in her teenage years that she had the makings of a captain of the Silver Ferns, she laughs. My sisters would tell you that I was always bossy. One of seven girls in the netball-mad family living in Hawera, Adine adored sport she played netball, basketball, touch and went onto Otago University where she qualified with a Bachelor of Physical Education and a law degree.

Last year, amid a blaze of publicity, Adine married rugby and cricket double All Black Southlander Jeff Wilson and now lives in Christchurch ( it s half way between our families in Hawera and Invercargill ) where she is a regular visitor to the Untouched World t m store: I wear my Mountainsilk t m everywhere it s so versatile, you can wear it lounging around or for going out, she says. Winter or summer, it doesn t matter and that s especially good in New Zealand where you can get four seasons in a day. Adine adds that what really appeals to her about Untouched Worldtm is the sustainability the fabrics, the whole philosophy of the brand, and especially, with the Untouched World t m Foundation, finding opportunities for young people who wouldn t otherwise have the chance. I feel quite strongly about all of that, she says. As a Silver Fern, of course, Adine has to keep herself in peak form, and that means taking a lot of care about what she puts into her body and keeping fit while not overdoing it. The team has a nutritionist who guides them all through a seven-day food plan. Every now and then

we have to do a food diary, writing down what we eat every day for a week, she says. And they can tell if you cheat because we do a skin-fold fat test regularly. Adine s greatest weakness, she says, is her sweet tooth especially for chocolate and her favourite, chocolate caramel slice. I ve got the worst sweet tooth in the world. I love food, I love going out for dinners. Luckily I m training so much I can get away with the occasional treat. Along with the food plan comes a fitness programme managed by the team s trainer. It s very technical nowadays, she says. They give us pedometers to measure how many steps we take when we re training and put heart rate monitors on us at training too, to make sure we re not overdoing it or under-training. You really have to have that motivation that you love netball to want to train so hard. There s no doubt that Adine, after playing more than fifty international games for New Zealand, has loads of that motivation to keep her at the peak of her game for many more years to come.

There are now believed to be around 70 million Brushtail Possums in New Zealand. They have had a devastating effect on native forests, where they cause widespread damage to certain tree species. Research has shown alarming effects of Brushtail Possums on New Zealand s rare and endangered native birds such as the kiwi and kokako. The Sanded Cotton shown here in the Ocean Jacket and Skate Skirt is a gorgeous 100% cotton fabric with an emerized surface that gives it a peach-like handle. It has a very subtle pinstripe woven into the fabric. Styles in Sanded Cotton are machine-washable for easy care. The shirts shown opposite are made from the finest Italian shirting. The Ida Shirt has a subtle flat cut edge binding detail on the seams. The Skate Shirt has raw edged panels topstitched onto the base shirt. Both styles have kite engraved shell buttons. We also have Vintage Washed Cotton, (shown opposite). This is made from 100% Cotton then specially washed to achieve the vintage effect. The Wool Drill (shown opposite) is a very elegant fabric. It has a beautiful drape and slight sheen which makes it perfect for the transition from day to evening. Our Denim jeans also shown opposite are available in a minimal wash. They are a traditional denim weave. Soft, crease resistant and machine washable, you can t go wrong!

Each of our leather garments is expertly hand made in Christchurch. The Baby Lambskin collection has a nappa face and brushed fine wool next to the body. We use only very fine n appa that is very soft and supple. It has a natural shine to the surface of the leather. The suede garments have a matt surface due to the slightly brushed nature of suede. Again, only the highest quality raw materials are sourced for our premium leatherwear collection. The Brushtail Possum Cape is indulgent luxury. It is made up of many Brushtail Possum pelts with a horn button closure, and 100% Silk lining. It is truly the only eco-fur available, due to the beneficial effects to New Zealand s native flora and fauna by the use of Brushtail Possum fur. Within New Zealand Please allow 3 - 7 working days delivery. We deliver by courier and your signature is required upon delivery, therefore, we recommend a work address. If no one is available to sign for the parcel two more attempts will be made to deliver the parcel upon returning back to us. Sorry no C.O.D's. RETURNS & EXCHANGES

Returns To return an item(s), please include the packaging slip that you received with your parcel and indicate the reason for the return. Send the returned item(s) to the address which appears at the top of the packaging slip. Goods must be returned within 3 weeks of order date - unworn and unwashed. We will credit your original method of payment, excluding delivery (unless goods are faulty or not as ordered). Exchanges If you would like to exchange colour or style, please follow the same instructions as above indicating your requirements, and include $10 courier fee (cheque, money order or credit card details). No redelivery fee applies when exchanging size. If possible please include an alternative as we may have sold out of your first choice. Please do not reuse our courier bag. Refunds and exchanges are processed within 24 hours of receipt. Make sure your name, address, phone number and instructions are clearly indicated. Comments are welcome.
