It is with great
excitement and
high expectations
that we begin the
2011-2012 school
year. We learned a
great deal over the
2010-2011 school
year and were
looking to improve
what we started on
last year. We have
high expectations
for our students,
both academically
and socially, and
that begins with
high expectations
of ourselves. Our
vision statement is
intended to capture
what we hope to
accomplish with
our students.
Were looking
forward to a
successful 2011-
2012 school year.
B.A.S.E. Camp Program

This year, B.A.S.E. Camp will be
providing before and after school care
for our students. The program offers
enriching activities as well as a
structured environment for students
to learn, explore, and engage in
physical activities in a safe
environment. For more information,
you can contact Laura Williams,
B.A.S.E. Camp Site Director, at
970-266-1734.
Students are permitted
on the school grounds
at 8:23 a.m., when
staff is on duty. We
appreciate your
cooperation in helping
all of our students
remain safe.

Greetings! My name is
Joan Brockway and it is
my great pleasure to be
joining the team at
Ponderosa Elementary as
a 5

recently I have been
principal at Lincoln
Elementary, but made the
decision this year to return
to teaching. I could not be
more excited, as being in
the classroom working
with children is my
passion. My career in
public education began
with four years of teaching
5
th
grade followed by 3
years as a district-wide

math specialist. I look
forward to bringing all
these professional
experiences into my
teaching and am already
looking forward to the first
day of school!
My husband and I have
called Colorado home for
over 30 years and are
both major outdoor
enthusiasts. We shared a
first career leading
outdoor programs for kids
and adults in Colorado
and abroad which
included backpacking,
rock climbing, and rafting
adventures. We have a
high school senior still at
home, three other children
and two grandchildren. I
am very excited to
become a Ponderosa
Panda, and look forward
to bringing our focus on
global awareness in my
classroom of the 5
th

graders this year.
