ElAttrache, M.D., Oscar Vasquez, M.D., Jy-Jen Chen, M.D., and Thay Lee, Ph.D., in the internationally recognized medical journal, Arthroscopy: The Journal of Arthroscopic and Related Surgery, for an article titled, Knotless Rotator Cuff Repair in an External Rotation Model: The Importance of Medial-Row Horizontal Mattress Sutures. This article defines a new, advanced Kevin Michael Kaplan, M.D. procedure for repairing a rotator cuff tear, which includes the application of stronger suture materials to create a stronger bridge, or NET bridge, which results in a stronger repair than what is traditionally performed. The original repair procedure, or construct, was developed by Neal ElAttrache, M.D., states Dr. Kaplan, who I studied with at the world-renowned Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Center (Los Angeles, CA) prior to coming to JOI.
