General Business
1. Recap a. 31st event Great turnout including some new faces.
b. Drew Traffic Light Party/Discrimination Policy GU

The GUU now have an anti-discrimination sign at the entrance to the HIVE (fantastic!). Mentioned that Drews contribution in suggesting the purple paint for LGBT individuals at the traffic light party was a fantastic idea and really helped to promote the GUU as a more inclusive place. c. Sponsorship Thanks to the team who came to send out the sponsorship packages. 2. Freshers Week
a. Checklist for Freshers Stall/Freshers Stall Etiquette

Get sweets! Also mentioned that unless you are on duty do not come to the stall as the SRC want to keep crowds (who are not Freshers) to a minimum. Condom packs/dental dams are ready for the Freshers stall. Other general student health/welfare booklets are also available (includes health/sexual health information etc.). Make sure that we are advertising the society well at the stall e.g. mentioning all events and our variety/diversity. b. Advertisement

Luke and Jack/Front-runners flyers to go on the table okayed by the committee. c. Double check the timetable with committee
d. Posters and Flyers (Boyd Orr/John Mac)

Chris will make sure the new posters are distributed around campus on our noticeboards in the John Mac, Boyd Orr and QMU.
e. T- Shirts

12.55 each to be paid asap and must be worn at LGBT Drop in Tea and Meet & Greet night.

3. Freshers Tent a. Discussed which committee members can make it (everyone

who can please!) Will probably be relocated to the Williams Room due to weather conditions as the tent will probably not be up. Well inform people via Newsletter/Facebook and the Freshers stall. Natalia will get cakes and biscuits.

4. Meet and Greet

a. Venue

Food Factory 6-10pm. Committee agreed that it is fine for the purpose and noted that Qudos last year was actually a bit too big.
b. Game arrangements

Natalia is organising the games and will email them to Jess asap. Suggested that we should play the Guess the committee member game.
c. Mics

Lauren to check this. But we probably wont need them considering the size of the space.
d. Prizes

Will be arranged as soon as the games are confirmed. e. Raffle tickets for Launch Night to be sold at M&G night to encourage more people to come and to give us the opportunity to sell more.

5. Launch Night
a. Drinks Licence confirmation?

Still havent heard anything but this is considered normal so hopefully everything is still ok! Jess to look for receipt for Mark. b. Advertisement
c. Raffle prizes

made a lot of progress with this and a lot more still to come. d. Drinks (arrangements for quantities, where to get it and transport)
e. GMH Sponsorship

Still to confirm this but should know asap. if they agree it will cover out venue costs.
f. Vanity Von Glow?

Discussed that this would be a great way to advertise the wider queer culture in Glasgow. Noted that it should be relatively tame and not a full show. Just a couple of songs and perhaps a bit of hosting (the raffle perhaps?). g. Massages? Woodlands Herbs have been approached to give free massages at Launch Night and this should be confirmed asap.

6. Scene Tour
a. Feedback from Natalia

Skipped this agenda point as Natalia has it sorted.

Mentioned that we should reserve the mezzanine at Polo.

7. Coming out Workshop

a. Venue (GU vs. QMU)

Discussed doubts about practicality re. the venue. We need stationary supplies; a projector etc. and we know we should be able to have this at the QMU.

8. Other Welfare Events

a. Befriending

The contact at LGBT Youth is out of office on a permanent basis at the moment so the future of this event is up in the air right now. However Kirsty will contact them to clarify. b. BiScotland Event Need to confirm a title for this event and will contact the organiser to clarify content etc. c. Police Workshop To be pushed to next semester.

9. MSP Event

Request sent to various MSPs following a meeting with Jess, Erin and Vicky Gunn.

10.

Front Runners
a. Advertisement (event/newsletter)

They would like to come to an event to advertise themselves and let the society know what they do etc. Discussed that M&G night might be a good event for them to come along to. They now have a link to our website on their site (and vice versa).

11. Drag King Workshop

Numbers will be limited. May be extended to a 3rd night (primarily for LGBT Youth) depending on availability etc.

12. Set a date for the first Trans Event (Kit) a. Trans Men Scotland are set to be doing events in Glasgow

(they currently run regular events in Edinburgh) and would like us to advertise their events to our members. Date set for a coffee night on Tuesday the 27th. Kit would also like to run this as a regular fortnightly event okayed by committee.

13. Discuss the It Gets Better Project and how we can be involved

(Drew) Glasgow University It Gets Better video (modelled on the Apple employees video) involving GULGBT, Staff Network, Freshers etc. Drew is also looking to have a launch day for it during SRC Health Week. GULGBT to be involved by appearing in the videos and advertising the campaign to our members. Other campaigns Drew is looking to run as SRC Sexual Orientation Welfare officer will include a Red-card campaign (sports campaign against racism) involving GUSA against homophobia/transphobia. Also looked at his poster campaign against the use of the word gay as a negative term.

14.

Newsletter x2 (for this week)

Will need to send one today (Monday) in order to announce the next committee meeting in time. Will send another later in the week after Freshers week for the new sign ups.

15. Swag Bag/Leaflets (QM Films)

Jess and Kirsty to sort out condoms and make new swag bags. Tidy locker and make room for DVDs.

16. Website Blog (disclaimer content?)

Need to include a disclaimer on the blog saying that the opinions expressed belong to the individual writer and to not represent the views of the society as a whole. Anyone can contribute interest pieces etc. Ask Colette to write a piece on asexuality. 17. Set next meeting

- Monday 19th at 5.30pm.

18.

Semester 2
a. Lashings of Ginger Beer Time

They are a queer feminist burlesque group who have been approached to do an event for us. Suggested that we could have it as a combined event with the feminist society (if there is one?).
i. Expenses etc.

Will need to pay for their travel and provide accommodation. Could do this by making it a ticketed event to cover expenses and to make a (possible) profit. Discussed venue options (will discuss it in further detail at a later date) GUU Debates vs. QMU Qudos. Could make it a Friday night event to minimise disruption to the performers and their regular work schedules (e.g. taking holidays etc.).
b. Eric Anderson

Semester 2 event? Concerns raised that there has been controversy at other events he has held recently however the committee agree that part of his appeal is in his controversial topics and that we would love for him to do another lecture despite this. Edith suggested that if Eric does his talk on monogamy that we could combine it with a poly speed-mating event.

19. Posters at the Flying Duck Tranny Party (Erin)

Erin will get in touch with the club organisers regarding their word choice for future club nights.

20. Filling Semester 1 Gaps

Cheese and wine night (combined with Drews It Gets Better project filming?).

Any Other Business

21. SRC vs. Queer

The SRC would not let us name our drop in event Queer Tea as it was deemed potentially offensive. Discussed challenging this as in the future we may wish to use this word for other events or to add it to our society name (LGBTQ[QI]). It may simply be a misunderstanding on the SRCs behalf so we will make contact regarding this.
