Every day, thousands of tons of MSW, crop waste,
wood waste, yard waste, and other "renewable
waste as well as non-recyclable plastics and other
organic materials enter Ohios environment.

Using Wastes as Fuels
The Pyrolysis / Electric
Generation Process:
This is a Mature, Well-
Established Technology
Originally Developed in the
1800s.
Recent Advances have
Brought Costs and Size
Down Considerably.
The Technology is Safe,
Efficient and Can Use a
Multitude of Feedstocks.
Modern Pyrolysis System
The feedstock material may need
to be partially dried or mixed
with dryer materials, such as
crop waste, yard waste, forest
thinnings or others.
The Pyrolysis to Energy Process
The waste is then fed into the pyrolysis unit
where it is heated in a zero or near zero oxygen
environment. The organic components rapidly
vaporize to form a dry "syngas consisting mainly
of methane, ethane, propane and butane, which
is then used as fuel to run an internal combustion
engine and generator set or a boiler to make
steam. Waste heat is recycled to augment the
energy from the syngas in the production of
power or to dry additional fuel. The process is
85% to 90% efficient.
This is an "ultra-low emissions process.

Organic Liquid Production
Depending on the waste feedstock, a variety
of organic liquids are produced by
pyrolysis. Many of these liquids may be
used directly as transportation fuels.
Ash Use and Disposal
Concrete Pipes
The resulting sterile ash
may be used as a filler for
concrete, mixed with liquid
asphalt for road repair, used
for certain industrial or
manufacturing operations,
or applied to farm fields,
depending on exact content,
local needs and regulations.
Virtually All Energy is Usable
This process can provide renewable energy
and other commodities:
Power (Steam, Hot Water and/or
Electricity)
Sterile Ash
Usable Waste Heat
Almost all input material is converted or
recycled. Emissions are easily controlled
and well below EPA regulations for 2020.
Most projects are exempt from air
permitting requirements!!
This is a complete solution for disposing of a variety of
waste feedstocks:
1. Environmentally Friendly - Carbon Neutral to Slightly
Negative
2. Eliminates Future Production of Methane (from Landfills)
3. No Ground or Surface Water Pollution
4. Ultra-Low Emissions Technology (This is NOT NOT
Incineration!)
5. No Pathogens, Flies or Rodents
6. Uses Wastes as Valuable Fuel Instead of Treating them
as Liabilities
7. Produces Steam, Hot Water, Space Heating and/or
Electricity
8. Creates Well-Paying Jobs
9. Good Public Relations
Advantages of Pyrolysis
1. Major mechanical components are made
by well-established, ISO 9000 Certified
American companies. Thousands of units
are already in the field world wide.
2. The systems are modular and scalable,
facilitating maintenance and future
expansion.
3. Power projects developed in multiples of
1.8 MW (6 x 300 Kw)
