Pada tanggal 11 Februari 1963, The Beatles merilis album debut mereka yang berisi sepuluh lagu. Album ini

Dilengkapi dengan empat lagu yang sudah dirilis pada dua single pertama mereka.
 Please Please, Me….
Single pertama The Beatles yang langsung mendapat sambutan hangat dari dunia karena
irama pop yang sempurna. Meskipun bukan benar-benar single pertama mereka, karena ada tiga
lagu yang sebelumnya sudah direkam, namun lagu ini benar-benar menjadi ikon saat itu.

Berawal dari pemikiran George Martin, produser EMI Studio yang menaungi proyek
album The Beatles yang menganggap bahwa tiga single mereka yang sudah lebih dulu direkam
kurang untuk menggebrak, karena itulah kemudian John berencana membuat sebuah single yang
dinilainya akan mampu menarik animo pendengar, sebuah lagu pop yang sempurna.

Terinspirasi dari lagu-lagu ballad Roy Orbison, John mulai menulis dan mengaransemen
lagu yang kemudian diberi judul “Please-please me…”. Kata please sendiri digunakan mengacu
pada lagu Bing Crosby yang berjudul “Please” dan berhasil menduduki puncak tangga lagu di
Amerika selama 6 minggu.

Lagu ini murni ditulis oleh John Lennon sendiri. Paul McCartney sendiri hanya membantu
aransemen saat proses finishing lagu tersebut. Ia menulis lirik dari lagu tersebut di rumah bibinya,
Mimi, di Menlove Avenue,Liverpool.
“Please Please, Me..” kemudian berhasil masuk dalam urutan ketiga dalam Bilboard Hot
100 dan di urutan ke-184 dalam “500 Lagu terbaik sepanjang masa” versi Majalah Rolling Stones.

Lagu ini ditulis Beberapa tahun sebelum itu direkam, dan sebelum adanya kelompok

bernama The Beatles. Single fitur John Lennon menonjolkan permainan harmonika dan vokal duet

dengan Paul McCartney. Tercatat ada Tiga versi yang berbeda dari lagu ini, masing-masing dengan

drummer yang berbeda.

Lagu ini ditulis oleh Paul McCartney pada medio 1958-1959. John Lennon menjelaskan

“Paul menulisnya ketika masih berusia 16 tahun, dan Love Me Do adalah benar-benar lagunya

Paul. Ia menulisnya bahkan jauh saat kami belum menjadi composer lagu”.

Lagu ini menempati chart nomer 1 di US charts (30 May 1964), dan bertahan di Top 100

selama 14 minggu. Tahun 1982, lagu ini kembali dirilis ulang namun tak sesukses pada 1964.

Paul McCartney dan John Lennon mulai menciptakan "She Loves You" setelah konser

di Majestic Ballroom, Newcastle dalam rangka tur bersama Roy Orbison dan Gerry & The

Pacemakers. Mereka berdua mulai menulis lagu dalam bis dan berlanjut sampai malam di hotel di

Newcastle.[2][3] Pada tahun 2003, rencana untuk menempelkan sebuah plakat di hotel dibatalkan

setelah diketahui bahwa baik Paul McCartney atau Ringo Starr, personil Beatles yang masih

tersisa, tidak satu pun yang dapat mengingat apakah di Imperial Hotel atau the Royal Turk's Head

mereka dahulu pernah menginap.[4] Pada tahun 2000, Paul McCartney berkata: "Ada sebuah

laguBobby Rydell pada saat itu, berjudul 'Forget Him', dan, seperti yang sering terjadi, kamu

memikirkan sebuah lagu lain ketika kamu sedang menulis lagu. Kami berada di dalam van

di Newcastle-Upon-Tyne. Saya sudah merencanakan 'lagu jawaban', yakni dua orang dari kami

akan menyanyikan 'she loves you' dan yang lainnya akan menjawab 'yeah yeah'. Kami

menganggap ini ide yang kurang bagus namun akhirnya kami mempunyai ide untuk memberi judul

lagu 'She Loves You'. Jadi kami duduk di tempat tidur hotel selama beberapa jam dan menulisnya

— John dan saya, duduk di tempat tidur kembar dan main gitar." Lagu itu selesai keesokan hari di

rumah keluarga McCartney di Forthlin Road, Liverpool.

Publik Inggris pada saat itu mendengarkan refrain "yeah, yeah, yeah" sebagai sesuatu

yang kontroversial, namun Radio BBC tetap memutarnya. Di beberapa tempat hal ini dipandang

sebagai awal dari "keruntuhan masyarakat berbudaya". [6] John Lennon, yang menyukai lagu Elvis

Presley berjudul "All Shook Up", menginginkan sesuatu yang sama: "saya tidak tahu dari mana

datangnya 'yeah yeah yeah' [tapi] saya ingat ketika Elvis melakukan 'All Shook Up', itu adalah

pertama kalinya dalam hidup saya mendengar 'uh huh', 'oh yeah', dan 'yeah yeah' yang semuanya
dinyanyikan di lagu yang sama". [7] "Kata 'wooooo' diambil dari lagu The Isley Brothers', 'Twist

And Shout'. Kami menaruhnya di mana pun".[8] Paul McCartney mengingat ketika mereka

memainkan lagu yang telah rampung dengan gitar akustik kepada ayahnya di rumah: "kami pergi

Pada tanggal 23 Agustus 1963, singel "She Loves You" dirilis di Britania Raya bersama

"I'll Get You" yang ada di sisi-B.[12] Singel ini mencetak beberapa rekor penjualan di negara itu

dan akhirnya menjadi singel dengan penjualan terlaris. She Loves You mulai masuk tangga lagu

pada 31 Agustus dan bertahan selama 31 minggu dengan 18 minggu di antaranya berada di posisi

top 3. Selama masa itu, lagu ini menduduki posisi pertama selama 4 minggu berturut-turut sejak

tanggal 14 September sampai 4 minggu, kemudian turun ke posisi 3 dan kembali naik ke posisi

puncak untuk 2 minggu mulai tanggal 30 November. Lagu ini kembali masuk ke tangga lagu

selama 2 minggu pada tanggal 11 April 1964 di posisi 42.

She Loves You adalah singel terlaris sejak tahun 1963 di Britania Raya, [13] rekor yang tidak

terpecahkan selama 14 tahun sampai akhirnya dilampaui oleh lagu Wings, grup musik yang

dibentuk Paul McCartney sendiri yang berjudul "Mull of Kintyre".

Lagu ini ditulis saat The Beatles sedang melakoni tur bersama Helen Saphiro ke

Shrewsbury. Paul McCartney mendapatkan ide untuk judul lagu ini dari Koran New Musical

Express yang ia baca, dimana ada kolom di Koran itu yang memuat judul “From You to Us”.

Untuk lebih menambah kesan yang intim, maka iapun memasukkan kata Me dan You untuk

menggantikan kata “Us”.

Lagu yang terdengar begitu blues pada awalnya, namun akhirnya sang produser, George

Martin menambahkan unsur harmonica untuk menggantikan vocal diawal dan tengah lagu. From

Me To You benar-benar merupakan kolaborasi antara John dan Paul, baik secara lirik dan music.

John dan Paul mengakui hal tersebut.

From Me To You merupakan lagu pertama The Beatles yang menduduki chart teratas

di Britania. Meskipun merajai tangga lagu Britania,From Me To You hanya mampu menarik

animo pendengar di Britania saja. Lagu ini kurang begitu menarik dimata para pendengarnya di

Amerika Serikat.

"I Saw Her Standing There" adalah lagu yang digubah oleh John Lennon dan Paul

McCartney dan lagu ini merupakan lagu pembuka dari album The Beatles, Please Please Me,

dirilis di Inggris oleh Parlophone pada tanggal 22 Maret 1963.

Pada bulan Desember 1963, Capitol Records merilis lagu ini di Amerika Serikat dan

diletakkan di sisi A pada label pertama single The Beatles, "I Want to Hold Your Hand". Ketika

sisi A tersebut mencapai peringkat 1 di Amerika Serikat di tangga lagu Billboard selama 7 minggu

sejak tanggal 18 Januari 1964, "I Saw Her Standing There" memasuki tangga lagu Billboard Hot

100 pada tanggal 8 Februari 1964, dan mencapai peringkat 14 selama 11 minggu. Lagu ini masuk

tangga lagu di Cashbox selama seminggu di peringkat 100. Pada tahun 2004, "I Saw Her Standing

There" mencapai rangking #139 pada dalam daftar the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time pada

majalah Rolling Stone.Lagu ini ditulis Beberapa tahun sebelum itu direkam, dan sebelum adanya

kelompok bernama The Beatles. Single fitur John Lennon menonjolkan permainan harmonika dan

 Twist and Shout
“Twist and Shout” adalah salah satu hits The Beatles di album pertama mereka. Lagu ini

merupakan salah satu dari beberapa lagu yang tidak ditulis oleh personel beatles sendiri. Twist and

Shout sejatinya adalah lagu dari band The Top Notes yang rilis pada tahun 1961.

Lagu ini merupakan salah satu lagu yang mengggambarkan music british rock & roll

dengan baik. Hal inilah yang membuat The Beatles kemudian meng-cover lagu tersebut. Yang

menjadikan versi dari lagu ini berbeda dari cover song lainnya adalah warna vocal John Lennon

yang saat itu didapuk untuk menjadi lead vocal. Saat proses recording, lennon sedang menderita

batuk dan meminum obat batuk serta susu sebelum proses recording. Namun, justru muncul warna

vocal yang baru dan lebih “rock” yang kemudian membuat lagu ini seperti yang kita dengar

sekarang. George Martin sebenarnya ingin versi yang lebih baik daripada yang sekarang, namun

saat itu suara Lennon tak pernah sebagus saat Take pertama, sehingga akhirnya Martin

memutuskan menggunakan versi awal tersebut. Lagu ini mampu mencapai chart no 2 dalam US

Bilboard Hot 100 tahun 1964.

 All My Loving

Ketika The Beatles memulai penampilan pertama mereka di 'The Ed Sullivan Show' pada

9 Februari 1964, All My Loving adalah lagu pembukanya. Lagu ini menjadi intro yang sempurna

untuk kelompok dan gelombang masuk dari Beatlemania.

Meskipun bukan salah satu lagu single, All my loving merupakan salah satu lagu Beatles

yang popular. Hal ini tak lepas dari dipilihnya lagu ini saat The Beatles pertama kali mengudara

di Amerika Serikat dalam acara “Ed Sullivan Show”.

Lagu ini ditulis oleh Paul McCartney di dalam bus saat berada dalam perjalanan tur

keliling. Saat tiba di lokasi, Paul mengaransemen kata-kata yang lebih mirip puisi tadi

menggunakan piano di backstage. Keunikan dari lagu ini menurut Paul adalah karena liriknya yang

ditulis terlebih dahulu sebelum aransemennya jadi.

Inspirasi Paul saat menggubah lagu ini tak lain adalah Jane Asher, aktris Inggris yang

kemudian menjadi pacarnya. Paul dan Jane pertama kali bertemu sekitar satu bulan sebelum lagu

ini digubah saat Jane yang saat itu ditugaskan untuk mewawancarai The Beatles.

Tak seperti lagu-lagu awal The Beatles lainnya, All My Loving justru Berjaya di

Australia, Norwegia dan Belanda daripada di Britania ataupun Amerika.

I Want To Hold Your Hand

I Want To Hold Your Hand adalah single pertama The Beatles di Amerika Serikat. Lagu

ini ditulis bersama oleh John Lennon dan Paul McCartney di basement milik Jane Asher, seorang

aktris dan pacar pertama Paul McCartney dari kalangan high-profile Pada mulanya, Bob Dylan

mengira baris "I can't hide" adalah "I was high" yang dia anggap sebagai konotasi dari mariyuana

Lagu ini adalah salah satu lagu favorit John Lennon. Lagu ini pernah diparodikan dan

diplesetkan menjadi 2 judul yaitu "I'll let you hold my Hand" yang dibawakan "The Bootles" dan

"Yes, You Can Hold My Hand" yang dibawakan "The Beatlettes"

Lagu ini sempat dibuat ke dalam bahasa Jerman yang berjudul "Komm Gib Mir Deine

Hand" Suatu ketika John Lennon menyadari bahwa fans The Beatles sangat ribut sehingga tidak

benar-benar mendengar apa yang The Beatles nyanyikan sehingga kadang-kadang ia

memplesetkan "I want to hold your hand" menjadi "I want to hold your gland" yang berkonotasi

payudara wanita.

Single ini meraih kesuksesan besar dengan merajai tangga lagu di beberapa Negara

seperti Inggris, Amerika,Norwegia,Belanda, Jerman barat bahkan Australia, dimana I Wan To

Hold Your Hand menempati posisi puncak dalam beberapa minggu.

 A Hard Day’s Night

Judul lagu ini nampaknya tidak mempunyai maksud apa-apa. Ya, karena judul ini

muncul dari celetukan Ringo Star. Suatu hari para personil The Beatles bekerja seharian, siang

hingga malam. Saat itu Ringo berkata “It’s been a hard day…” tapi saat ia melihat keluar dan

ternyata hari sudah malam, ia langsung berkata, “…night!” dan terciptalah judul yang kita

kenal, A Hard Day’s Night.

Lagu ini menjadi original Soundtrack dari Film pertama mereka yang berjudul sama.

Soundtrack “A Hard Day’s Night” dirilis pada bulan Juli 1964. Sama seperti album-album

sebelumnya, album ini pun juga menuai sukses. Dalam album ini terlihat bahwa semua musik

yang meng-influens mereka menyatu dan menampilkan ciri rock and roll The Beatles yang khas.

Sound khas mereka pun mulai tampak di album ini. Materi dalam album ini memuat komposisi

original dari Lennon dan McCartney, tanpa lagu cover. Secara umum dapat dikatakan bahwa di

album ini lah The Beatles mulai menampilkan kesejatian musik mereka yang penuh keceriaan

dan optimisme. Sound The Beatles yang khas, khususnya sound gitar resonant elektrik 12 senar

yang dipakai Harrison kemudian menginfluens sound band The Byrds dalam meramaikan dunia

rock and roll tahun 60an.

 If I Fell…

Lagu ini hasil karya John Lennon yang direkam pada 27 Februari 1964 dan dirilis pada

26 Juni 1964, Lirik lagu “If I Fell” begitu polos, jujur, naif, ya apapun lah itu untuk

menggambarkan betapa lugasnya lirik lagu ini. Dibalik penulisan lirik lagu ini juga terdapat

kisah dari Lennon sendiri tentang kisah cintanya, namun saya pun tidak begitu paham dengan

kisah tersebut. Lagu ini adalah lagu slowballads pertama The Beatles yang ternyata mendapat

respon baik dari penggemar The Beatles.

Menurut majalah Rolling Stone: The Beatles 100 Greatest Songs, lagu ini adalah salah

satu lagu gubahan Lennon yang paling cerdas, harmoninya, beat-nya,.. di lagu ini Lennon dan

Kesuksesan single-single terdahulu, membuat The Beatles dituntut untuk dapat menghasilkan sebuah karya

yang dapat memuaskan penggemarnya, dan mereka memahaminya. Sebuah lagu berjudul Can’t Buy Me Love

diproyeksikan untuk menggebrak kembali Amerika dan Britania dengan kekuatan Rock’n Roll-nya.

Lagu ini memulai debutnya dengan bertengger di urutan ke 27 di Bilboard pop chart dan langsung melejit ke

posisi puncak di minggu berikutnya. Kesuksesannya menjadikan The Beatles sebagai satu-satunya artis yang mampu

mencatatkan namanya di puncak tangga lagu Bilboard selama 3 kali berturut-turut, setelah single sebelumnya, I want

Eleanor Rigby adalah sebuah lagu Beatles dalam album Revolver, yang dinyanyikan oleh
Paul McCartney pada tahun 1966. Lagu ini diciptakan hampir keseluruhannya oleh McCartney
dan kredit diberikan kepada Lennon–McCartney. Lirik lagu ini bercerita mengenai kesepian yang
mendalam
Lagu ini tidak diisi oleh instrumen pemain Beatles lain, melainkan dengan iringan double
