On Wednesday 21st September Social Investment Scotland ( SIS ) will mark its 10th Anniversary and the opening of its new office in Broughton Place in Edinburgh . SIS has supported 160 Social Enterprises, Charities and Community Organisations across Scotland, including The Spartans Community Football Academy which has received over 1m of investment from the funds that SIS manages, towards the construction costs of the Academy itself and also towards the creation of a full sized 3G pitch. Those attending the photo-call will include Alf Young - Chairman of SIS, Alastair Davis - Acting Chief Executive of SIS and local youngsters Tee-Jay Brammer, Tyler Brammer, Louis Watson, Kyle Brammer and Brian Stoddart who all take part in The Spartans Community Football Academy programmes. Kenny Cameron - Community Programme Manager at Spartans said : The support shown by SIS towards the Academy has had a profound effect on our ability to work on and develop meaningful programmes. This investment means that we can continue to run the very successful Friday FooTEA Club, Street Football in a Safe Place and Spartans Smilers to name but a few, which are designed to directly benefit the local community, particularly local young people. Alf Young, Chairman of Social Investment Scotland said : Since its creation ten years ago, SIS has been involved in communities right across Scotland, delivering investment to organisations working to deliver real impacts on the lives of people within them. As we celebrate our 10th anniversary we are proud of what we have already achieved and look forward to delivering more funding support to more social enterprises in more communities for many years to come. Editors Notes Social Investment Scotland (SIS) aims to help to grow the size and sustainability of the social economy in Scotland. In particular, the emphasis on the provision of loan funding provides a more predictable and sustainable form of finance. Since 2008, SIS has managed the Scottish Investment Fund on behalf of the Scottish Government. By March 2012, SIS expects its portfolio of live investments in social enterprises in Scotland to reach 35m, of which around 25m will be in the form of repayable loans. This ensures that money is recycled and reinvested for future benefit. Charity No. SC036875 Registered in Scotland SC223302
