The Shepherds Chapel: Genesis Chapter 5: The Genealogy of Adam

PM: Good day to you. GOD Bless you, say welcome to The Shepherds Chapel. Welcome this family Bible study hour. Hey were back in that book of Genesis. We got up to chapter five. On having finished chapter four you noted that we have two different seed-lines. Chapter four was the seed-line of Cain and now in chapter five were going to have the seed-line of Adam. Many might say, Well, why arent they one and the same? Its pretty obvious that Cain is not in the genes of Adam. If somebody fathers a child that child has the genes of both the Father and the Mother, well Cain didnt have Adams genes, therefore hes not in his genealogy. The important lesson you need to learn is the nearness of names. It stated in Genesis 4:26 that the people began to call upon the LORD. The word began in the Hebrew (H7121: ; Qura) Prounced: Kaw-Lawl means to wound or profane. Okay, lets translate it as it is. They began to profane the name of The LORD. Why? They were already beginning to inter-mix the fallen angels (The Nephilim), which we will get to in the next chapter. Lets now nail down if we may in as much as Enosh has been born of Seth. Enosh translated means Mortal Man, or Frail. Mortal man is a little a bit frail, which is the first lesson you should learn from the book of man.

Chapter five-verse one and it reads: This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him.

Genesis Chapter 5 verse 2: Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created.

PM: This is the 6th day creation. I want to emphasize when

Adam is used without the article then it means mankind or

human beings. Now he comes to Ha-Adham with the article where by you know its talking about the ADAM through whom CHRIST would come. Here is his generation.

Genesis Chapter 5 verse 3: And Adam (This is theAdam: Ha-Adham) lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, and after his image; and called his name Seth. PM: Do you find Cain listed there? No you wont. Do you know why? This is a chronological giving of the genes of Adam. Why isnt Cain there? Again, he wasnt of Adams genes, he was not Adams son. If you dont understand this then you wont understand any of CHRISTS parables. Seth is first Son of Adam after Cain slew Abel.

Genesis Chapter 5 verse 4: And the days of Adam after he had begotten Seth were eight hundred years: and he begat sons and daughters. PM: In other words he began to begat children but the line always goes with the oldest son.

Genesis Chapter 5 verse 5: And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died. PM: That would be exactly a120 years after GOD had placed the sentence which you will read in the next chapter, but he would only live a 120 years; which we consider to be one of the lengths for a generation.

Genesis Chapter 5 verse 6: And Seth lived an hundred and five years, and begat Enosh. PM: Of course Enosh means mortal, or frail. The name Seth being translated means Compensation, which Seth is called that because Cain slew Abel which would have been Adams first born.

Genesis Chapter 5 verse 7: And Seth lived after he begat Enosh eight hundred and seven years, and begat sons and daughters. PM: He begat other sons and daughters.

Genesis Chapter 5 verse 8: And all the days of Seth were nine hundred and twelve years: and he died. PM: Note the longevity of these people: Probably from that you can gather how man has polluted this earth, not to mention the sentence that GOD placed on them the 120 years which be talked in the next chapter. But it shows you how man has polluted this earth with toxins and poisons. There is just no way a flesh-body could hold together for 900 years, with the state our atmosphere, our waters and so forth are in at this time. Not to mention that man has sinned as he is pulled away from GOD through the generations in one form or the other.

Genesis chapter 5 verse 9: And Enos lived ninety years, and begat Cainan.

PM: Cainan means procession.

Genesis Chapter 5 verse 10: And Enosh lived after he begat Cainan eight hundred and fifteen years, and begat sons and daughters. PM: So were getting quite a group together as time marches on. Needless to say it would seem they waited until they were well along in years perhaps compared today before they had their first born, but once they would have started having lived for 900 years approximately they would have had several children no doubt.

Genesis Chapter 5 verse 11: And all the days of Enosh were nine hundred and five years: and he died. PM: Remember GOD had said the day the Adam sinned would be the day he would die, and a day with GOD is 1000 years. As you can see none of these people lived for a 1000 years. They died less than a LORDS Day which is to say a 1000 year period.

Genesis Chapter 5 verse 12: And Cainan lived seventy years and begat Mahalaleel. PM: Mahalaleel means praise of GOD which would be the correct interpretation. We see that Cainan no doubt loved The LORD because he named this child praise of GOD. Bear in mind though it is not written but it becomes obvious

from the word Qura they began to profane the name of GOD, that things are waxing worse and worse as years go by.

Genesis Chapter 5 verse 13: And Cainan lived after he begat Mahalaleel eight hundred and forty years, and begat sons and daughters.

Genesis Chapter 5 verse 14: And all the days of Cainan were nine hundred and ten years: and he died. PM: You hear a bit about cloning in this generation, hey when we got all these begatsdont worry it will never last.

Genesis chapter 5 verse 15: And Mahalaleel lived sixty and five years, and begat Jared. PM: Jared properly interpreted means descent.

Genesis Chapter 5 verse 16: And Mahalaleel lived after he begat Jared eight hundred and thirty years, and begat sons and daughters. PM: Again, more in the family and no doubt very large families.

Genesis Chapter 5 verse 17: And all the days of Mahalaleel were eight hundred ninety and five years: and he died. Genesis Chapter 5 verse 18: And Jared lived an hundred sixty and two years, and he begat Enoch.

PM: Now, here we come to a real special person. Enoch can be translated dedicated, or discipline. We know Enoch was a great one of discipline. We also know from the book of Jude that Enoch was a prophet and thats important absorb. Especially in as much in his name defines to initiate a new way, or to initiate a new discipline. The word initiate pronounced is enish-shoo-ate. We know simply by the name and the events that happened to Enoch and he being a prophet says a great deal more than is written, for the simple fact up until this day when the family began to grow. GOD walked with Adam and Eve and talked to them one on one, so you didnt need a prophet. A prophet is one that GOD speaks to and then that prophet sounds a warning to the people. So Enoch the discipliner or initiate: which is to say he initiated a new way of thinking because GOD instructed him for well find in a verse or two that he walked with GOD (as Adam and Eve walked with GOD in The Garden). So, Enoch still walked with GOD: This tells us that he was righteous and well disciplined. Whether you like it or not you will find all the people men and women that GOD utilized were well disciplined people. Disciplined to the way of GOD, that is to say GODS plan, wanting to fulfill GODS desire his children do. Anyone cant help to enjoy discipline due to being in control of ones self, which is what Enoch processed to fulfill GODS orders. Enoch no doubt disciplined himself in pleasing and loving GOD. GOD actually walked with him and talked with him. So you see we have to know and understand from his name and the events that happened that we have quite a bit going on at this time: that the pulling away from GOD and the intermixing of the Nephilim no doubt has already begun. The main point you need grasp

in the fairness of Our Father, dont think before the flood came they werent warned because there were prophets and preachers sent to them such as Enoch; which is easily documented as you go along in the next chapters.

Genesis Chapter 5 verse 19: And Jared lived after he begat Enoch eight hundred years, and begat sons and daughters. PM: You cant help noting with these large families the replenishing of the Earth by the 8th day man, which this particular chapter in as much has the article with being Adam and Eve seeing the 8th day creation is growing considerably.

Genesis Chapter 5 verse 20: And all the days of Jared were nine hundred sixty and two years: and he died. PM: Note that he was less than 40 years away from being from that 1000 year mark, but he wasnt the oldest. We will get to the oldest in a moment.

Genesis Chapter 5 verse 21: And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters. PM: The name Methuselah being interpreted in the Hebrew means Man of Dart, or a man with darts to the point of hitting/casting a mark. Having a father like Enoch I think you could put to that. It was part the discipline.

Genesis Chapter 5 verse 22: And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters. PM: Interesting point that GOD chose to take him out of this mess at a very young age.

Genesis Chapter 5 verse 23: And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years. PM: One year for each day of the year, but then what happened? Again, he did not die.

Genesis Chapter 5 verse 24: And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him. PM: He was translated/transformed, one of the only ones. So we see the goodness and it was his faithfulness and righteousness that brought this to pass. He must have been one kind of a prophet in the warning he would give. Methuselah will be the oldest man that has ever lived since day one, from either the 6th day or 8th day creation. Lets go go back to the genealogy of Cain and show you a little difference here though. In Cains genealogy youll find Methusael with EL being the title GOD. Whereas in Adams genealogy you have Methuselyah: YAH being the sacred name of GOD. Not his title but his sacred name in Methuselah. At the same time GOD sends you a special message in the fact that many of the names. For example Cain had an Enoch, Lamech, and near a Methuselah with Methusael. What is GOD telling you? There are two separate genealogies. In many times you may think

someone got the families mixed up here, not so. Its GODS way of telling you learn how to translate the names for yourself to grasp the meaning. At the same time the most important fact is to follow the gene. It would be through this gene that youre studying that is to say Adam (Ha-Adam) to be more specific that CHRIST the savior of the world would come through this genealogy.

Genesis Chapter 5 verse 25: And Methuselah lived an hundred eighty and seven years, and begat Lamech. PM: This is the oldest man. Remember Cain had a Lamech too. The name Lamech being interpreted means Powerful.

Genesis Chapter 5 verse 26: And Methuselah lived after he begat Lamech seven hundred eighty and two years, and begat sons and daughters.

Genesis Chapter 5 verse 27: And all the days of Methuselah were nine hundred sixty and nine years: and he died. PM: That being the oldest there were. Okay Lamech is at the end of this genealogy because he will be the Father of Noah, then we open into a new time period. YOU HAVE TO KNOW that NOAH was definitely a SON OF ADAM.

Genesis Chapter 5 verse 28: And Lamech lived an hundred eighty and two years, and begat a son.

Genesis Chapter 5 verse 29: And he called his name Noah, saying, This same shall comfort us concerning our work and toil of our hands, because of the ground which the LORD hath cursed. PM: Its strange but it means rest also, but to bring comfort to the land that GOD had placed a curse on. Lamech expected big things from Noah and Noah definitely did not let him down. That discipline that was handed down from his great grandfather Enoch was maintained. The name Noah also means rest or comfort, which you know Messiah CHRIST would be the comforter of all mankind and obviously has Noahs trademark.

Genesis Chapter 5 verse 30: And Lamech lived after he begat Noah five hundred ninety and five years, and begat sons and daughters. PM: These large families continued. Many, many people are on Earth at this time. Even, from the 8th day creation: not to mention from the land of NOD or the multi areas of which the 6th day creation.

Genesis Chapter 5 verse 31: And all the days of Lamech were seven hundred seventy and seven years: and he died. PM: Now were down to just Noah.

Genesis Chapter 5 verse 32: And Noah was five hundred years old: and Noah begat Shem, Ham, and Japheth. PM: Remember Noah was 500 years old before he had his first child.
