1. MeshDynamics Overview
• Basic Profile
• Founded in 2002 in Santa Clara, California
• Large scale production since 2005
• Creator of StructuredMesh(tm) technology

(c)2007 MeshDynamics & Datazen Technology Solutions Within

1. MeshDynamics Overview (cont’d)
• Market Achievements and Positioning
• Created the markets first third-gen solution
• Only radio-agnostic solution on the market
with multiple patents pending
• Military roots and ongoing custom feature
development for key defense applications --
features which are released into core
product line on a regular basis
• Key verticals/applications are municipal
networking, video surveillance,
transportation, homeland security/defense,
military and pubic safety

2. Intro to Mesh and StructuredMesh(tm)
• 1st Generation Mesh was “ad-hoc”
• single radio trying to do to provide access and
backhaul
• does not scale
• cannot support voice or video

(c)2007 MeshDynamics & Datazen Technology Solutions Within

2. Intro to Mesh and StructuredMesh(tm)
• 2nd Generation Mesh
• separate access and backhaul radios
• still does not scale
• still cannot effectively transmit voice and
video

(c)2007 MeshDynamics & Datazen Technology Solutions Within

2. Intro to Mesh and StructuredMesh(tm)
• 3rd Generation StructuredMesh(tm) emulates
a wired switch
• dual backhaul radios for uplink and downlink,
allowing simultaneous transmission and
receipt of data
• offers unlimited scaling
• minimal inter-hop delay (<1ms, per results
published by US Air Force)
• ideal support for video, voice and data

3. StructuredMesh(tm) for CCTV
Common Network Management System
• StructuredMesh(tm) is ideal for CCTV
Network Management System
transmission over any distance, even with
limited sink points to the wired network
• Up to 22Mbps of IP throughput (not over-the-
air signaling) available per mesh, between
wired “sink-points”
• Less than 1ms of delay between hops
• Standardized QoS support for triple-play June 14 2006, Army Board Presentation © 2002-2006 MeshDynamics, Inc. Proprietary and Confidential. Patents Pending. All Rights Reserved.

networks
• Robust security including AES encryption and
MAC address Filtering
• Graphical NMS for ease of network
management

3. StructuredMesh(tm) for CCTV (cont’d)
Common Network Management System
• Effistream feature set offers packet-based
Network Management System
QoS and security specialized for video
transmission
• Includes specialized features such as jitter
compensation, video-packet priority

• IGMP certification for UDP based video

surveillance as of next firmware release June 14 2006, Army Board Presentation © 2002-2006 MeshDynamics, Inc. Proprietary and Confidential. Patents Pending. All Rights Reserved.

• This is a real achievement, UDP is a major

challenge for all RF solution providers

3.1 Freedom of Frequency Selection
• StructuredMesh(tm) is fundamentally a radio-
agnostic technology
• Hardware implementation is modular, allowing
integration of any correct form-factor radio
• A variety of frequencies are available:
• 900 MHz (now)
• 2.3 GHz (within 2 months of order)
• 2.4 GHz (now)
• 3.5 GHz (6 months+)
• 4.9 GHz (within 2 months of order)
• 5.1-5.4, 5.47-5.725, 5.725-5.825GHz (now)

(c)2007 MeshDynamics & Datazen Technology Solutions Within

3.2 Mobility, Now
• Few available technologies allow mobility at
highspeeds -- even next-gen WiMax has
speed limitations, and will not be
commercially available for another 12 months
• MeshDynamic’s solution supports mobility
(rapid association of train nodes with
trackside nodes), at speeds of up to 250Km/h
• Mobility at speeds of up to 400Km/h already
in testing, due out in near-term upgrade
• Mobility translates to continuous,
uninterrupted flow of video, voice and data-
feeds at any track speed AND in the station

4. A Few Technology Details
• NEMA 67 rated outdoor device with
operational temperature range from -40 to
+85 degrees Celsius
Commercial Product
• Each node can accommodate up to 4-radios,
a node can be “stacked” to create an 8-radio
“supernode”
• Broad antenna options with standard n-female

connectors
• Broad power supply compatibility with PoE
standard pin-outs, 24V, 1A

(c)2007 MeshDynamics & Datazen Technology Solutions Within

4.1 Antenna Compatibility
• Standard N-Female connectors allow for
broad antenna compatibility
• Common options include Superpass, Huber-
Suhner, many others
• Antenna selection also depends on frequency
selection
• External amplifiers can also be deployed if
required (for most FCC and/or ETSI compliant
solutions this is unnecessary)
• Onboard radios provide up to 400mW of
output power, this can vary depending on
frequency and modulation

(c)2007 MeshDynamics & Datazen Technology Solutions Within

4.2 Power Supply Compatibility Military Ve

• Nodes are powered by 24V PoE

Up to 4 radios per Box
• Standard supply modules are provided by
MeshDynamics (usually housed in NEMA
boxes for outdoor operation)
• Specialized modules for specific
Power over Ethernet
environmental operations are available

5. Dubai Metro Design Concept
• Video feed from onboard IP Cams delivered to onboard mesh node(s)
• On board nodes have mobile association with track-side nodes,
allowing travel at speeds of up to 200 km/h
• Feed is relayed from on-board to track-side nodes
• Track-side nodes further relay the stream along the track until a wired
sink point is reached, from there, wired network takes over
