Technical Design
The system consists of a high pressure cylinder bank with either manual or pressure operated cylinder top valves. The
cylinder bank and a unique manifold are stored in their own insulated room. Valves are connected to the manifold using
flexible high pressure hoses.
From main distribution valves, a piping system is used to distribute the gas to the discharge nozzles which are placed
CO2 Fire Extinguishing System uniformly throughout the protected spaces. The system is operated manually from a release cabinet located centrally,
or from release cabinets placed close to the protected space.
Machinery Spaces, Pump Rooms and Cargo Holds
When releasing the system, the main distribution valve opens while simultaneously the pilot gas to the pressure oper-
ated CO2 cylinder top valves is delayed for a specified time. After the delay, the cylinder top valves open and the gas is
discharged through the piping and nozzles into the protected space.
The cylinders with manifolds and discharge hoses can be delivered assembled in rack modules. The system can also

It extinguishes fires using CO2 by reducing the oxygen content in the space.
The CO2 gas has proven to be a fast acting fire extinguishing agent and is
effective on deep seated fires in cargo holds. Local systems for paint lockers
and galley ducting are available and smoke sampling systems for cargo
holds can also be incorporated in the CO2 system package.
