Granville Academy in New Haven provides fundamental business and


financial skills that will facilitate their future assimilation into the economic
mainstream. It is intended that students share their knowledge with others,
and ultimately create teams that will build strong and economically viable
inner-city communities based on free enterprise.

An after-school
Coaching and Counseling Laboratory
Equipping youth to succeed in the Global Marketplace
Encouraging them to seek high-level executive careers, not just
jobs.
Mentoring them through a five-year program, that teaches
the fundamentals of capitalism and life skills.
Enabling them to acquire the necessary motivation and
self-confidence needed to be successful in the business world.

FACT SHEET

Granville Academy is a national after school program that prepares inner city youth, but not exclusively, for
success in the global marketplace by teaching the foundations of business, finance, technology,
entrepreneurship, character building, community service and the opportunity for training on business
ownership.
Granville Academy New Haven has a board of directors for governance and fundraising to support its operation.
The organization is incorporated and has a 501(C3) status.
MISSION STATEMENT
The Granville Academy prepares youth to understand and prepare to work in the global marketplace as it is
today, and as it is evolving here and around the world. Experience proves that as students learn more about the
workings of the economic system, the more likely they are to become productive citizens in their communities.
The mission of the Academy is three fold:
 To help youth enter and succeed in global market-driven economy.
 To provide a foundation for their continued growth as world citizens.
 To instill in them a giving-back spirit focused on helping others and communities around the globe.
The Granville Academy enlists the services of volunteers, businesses and community groups to achieve our
mission.
Meeting Location: Hospital of Saint Raphael
Student Capacity: 75 – 100
Targeted Population: Middle and High School students from New Haven and other Connecticut towns.
Eligibility Requirements: Motivation, Potential, Team Player, Grades, Parental Involvement, Essay on
“Why student wants to attend Granville Academy”, Student and Parent
Interviews.

Phase V Business Exploration and College Preparation
