PLANNER
Develop preseason unit/dollar level plans for sales, inventory, markdowns and margin in
partnership with the Planning Manager and buyer. Develop assortment plans that tie back to the
monthly receipt targets. Partner with Planning Manager and Allocation Team to determine
monthly allocation strategies. Initiate analysis of business trends, which could include category
performance, regional, selling, size selling. In-season re-forecasting of category unit plans/ dollar
plans, focusing on future opportunities as well as minimizing sales/inventory risks. Manage the
Open to Buy with the Planning Manager and Buyer.

BUYER
Perform market analysis to define and assess current trends. Develop business strategies to
outline strengths, weaknesses, new opportunities and down trending businesses in apparel
market. Sourcing and monitoring delivery of product and quality control. Execute balanced
assortment including strategically selecting and purchasing product from vendor lines to create
and enhance assortments based on trend data. Achieve sales and margin objectives for
seasonal buying plans. Analyze and negotiate proposals for product based on trend, price,
delivery time and quality. Develop and maintain assortment plans and continually assess market
to identify and react to trends.

ALLOCATION MANAGER
Support regional buying strategy by developing allocation plans support stores that have unique
event, space, assortment and timing needs. As changes occur in trends and company objectives,
interpret impact on allocation execution and revisit the strategies with the planning and buying
team in responding to the changes. Ensure that allocation analyst understands execution impact
and reacts accordingly. Partner with planning and buying to drive purchase quantity decisions for
both initial buys and reorders that support departmental financial objectives and store needs.
Review all recommended purchase quantity decisions for both initial buys and reorders. Review
and approve assortment strategy by volume group in order to ensure high volume stores have
enough variety of styles to maximize sales.

DIRECTOR OF INTERNET
Directs all day-to-day operational activities of the site including content, production/operations,
sales, marketing, merchandising and customer service. Leads the team ensuring strong
individual and group results and good communication/teamwork. Understands e-commerce
technology and can serve as a strong liaison with IT group to keep site vibrant Keeps pace with
current trends in music/e-commerce. Identifies best practices and current/new technology and
determines their applicability to our site. Has experience managing a strong e-commerce site
(music site preferred) – and has a strong passion for music and pop culture. Has knowledge of
the music industry and/or music itself. Has some merchandise experience in a bricks & mortar or
e-commerce environment (e.g. @ Borders, Amazon, Barnes & Noble). Ideal candidate has solid
5+ years experience and knowledge directing an e-commerce function and team. Need to have a
working knowledge of merchandise buying, web design, call center customer service, music
industry relations, marketing, and photo shoots.

WEB DESIGNER
Responsible for creating an attractive web site that has a compelling and intuitive user interface.
Creates web page designs and develops new original graphics. Designs elements for landing
pages, templates and e-mail campaigns. Collaborates with the IT team to implement all aspects
of the design and user interface. Develops concepts for web promotional and online marketing
related projects. Collaborates closely with other internal music, internet and IT teams to ensure
consistent implementation of the brand. Provides artistic leadership and creative guidance to
team members. Must be highly skilled in Photoshop, illustrator, Flash and have knowledge of
web-based platforms, browsers, HTML and related technologies. Must have thorough knowledge
of Web best practices, including SEO and Web site optimization.

MARKETING MANAGER
Creates, implements and oversees communication and internet-related programs to effectively
drive the brand, visits to the site, and conversions of visitors to sales. Stays abreast of changes
in the on-line marketing environment to best serve the objectives of the organization and
propose/implement plans appropriately. Coordinates e-mail campaigns. Manages affiliate
programs and paid searches. Responsible for SEO (Search Engine Optimization). College
degree in Business / Marketing or related field preferred or 4 or more years of web marketing.
Strong computer skills (Excel & Access).

CUSTOMER SERVICE MANAGER


Ensures that customers to the site are satisfied and retained. Handles issues with customers and
ensures their satisfaction. Responsible for designing and implementing improved processes or
operational policies. Recommends changes to the site, products or services to fulfill customer
needs. Familiar with e-commerce technology, merchandise and shipping systems to resolve
customer concerns. Manages outsourced customer service group. Bachelors degree required or
relevant years of experience. 2-5 years of management experience in fast paced contact center
environment.

INTERNET MERCHANDISE MANAGER


Performs market analysis to define and assess current trends. Analyzes merchandise reports to
review business results and take appropriate actions to capitalize on business strengths.
Strategically select and purchase product from vendor lines to augment planned assortments
based on trend data. Analyzes and negotiates proposals for product based on trend, price,
delivery time and quality, and subsequently select the most appropriate vendors. Buys items
sold on-line. Determines trends, styles and quantity. Ensures replenishment of merchandise to
drive service, sales and gross margin. Merchandises product - determines where it goes on the
website. At least 3-5 years progressive experience as a Merchandise Buyer.

INTERNET TECHNOLOGY MANAGER


Serves as the lead architect in guiding the development for a combined digital commerce and
community based site. Manages the daily operations, network administration and
data/voice/visual communication environments. Maintains system and infrastructure
documentation. Leads the team providing daily and weekly updates to the site while developing
templates and tools to support the business goals. Manages and develops the digital music
technical team ensuring task timelines and quality are consistently met. Actively participates in
the design and development of new functions and future functionality ensuring appropriate
knowledge for updates and maintenance. Works with the team to schedule future updates,
promotions and enhancements. Provides timely reports on production effectiveness.

BUSINESS ANALYST
Develops, prioritizes, communicates and coordinates application changes to fulfill business
objectives. Develops an understanding and provides analysis of user and business
requirements. Defines digital commerce and community requirements and evaluation of
alternatives providing recommendations for application features, integration and implementation.
Coordinates vendor activity to achieve production fixes, application enhancements and manage
vendor delivery of production fixes and application upgrades. Ensures application readiness,
security and availability. Manages upgrade and new release implementation. Manages
integration efforts with other applications and initiatives.

JAVA DEVELOPER
Works with other team members to design, build and launch site updates and enhancements that
support business objectives. Actively participates in the design and development of new
applications, templates and future functionality of the site. Investigates new technologies and
methods to bring best-of-breed functionality to the site. 2-3 years experience in development
environments with Java/J2EE, Struts, Ruby on Rails experience valuable. Server software

knowledge in WebSphere, Apache, Windows 2000, Unix (AIX or other), Linux and other Java
application servers.

SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR
Analyzes, designs and documents requirements for the Hot Topic.com Music team. Develops
understanding and provides analysis of user and business requirements. Coordinates application
changes to fulfill business objectives. Produces specifications to meet business requirements.
Leads problem determination and coordinates issue resolution with other support areas as
required. Monitors operations to ensure positive customer interaction. Resolves user and
developer inquiries that arise during day to day operations.

QA ANALYST
Perform QA tasks for reporting, ad-hoc, small, and medium to large size projects, requiring
adequate planning and execution to ensure the applications meets design specifications and
quality standards. Effectively communicate with the IT Software Development department,
Business Analyst and Project Manager on matters of quality compliance, testing status and
issues. Create detailed test documentation (e.g. Test Plans, Test Indexes, Test Cases, etc)
based on functional/technical documentation and understanding of system and business
processes. Reporting bugs in a bug tracking database, regression testing and fix verifying.
Coordinate and support UAT Testing phases with end-users. Troubleshoot software defects and
identify root cause of issues.

SR. ORACLE DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR


Responsibilities include installation, updates/patches/upgrades, tuning, recoveries, backups,
security, user management and resource management for all critical business database systems.
Maintain relationship with Oracle and other database vendors and act as first point of contact
regarding technical and licensing issues. Administer, maintain, develop and implement policies
and procedures for ensuring the availability, security, integrity and recoverability of all Oracle and
MS SQL Server databases. Tune database, OS and SAN environments for high-volume and
large database environments. L  eadership role in the architecture, implementation and support of
an enterprise wide data warehouse and data marts. K  ey team member in implementation of new
systems requiring Oracle/SQL Server.

DIRECTOR OF FINANCIAL PLANNING AND ANALYSIS


Planning cycle process design, coordination and communications. Build strong relationships and
frequently interact with finance business partners to develop a clear understanding of business
issues. Development of financial presentations for Sr. Management and Board of Directors
meetings. Provide leadership to team in development and maintenance of financial models
supporting Balance Sheet / Cash Flow forecasting, Long Range Planning and the consolidation of
channel / divisional forecasts. Assist in the development of company financial targets; perform
