PARENTS’ EVENING

Please use the Parents’ Evening as an
opportunity to meet your child’s teacher. There
will, obviously, not be sufficient time to deal with
serious issues, but it affords both parties the
chance to form a partnership to assist your
children. Grades 1 to 5 own classrooms

VANDALISM AND THEFT
There has been a spate of vandalism. Several
toilets have suffered damage, toilet paper
replaces ceiling paint, school uniforms blocking
toilets. We do everything we can to ensure clean,
healthy toilets. Reporting vandalism is not
“splitting”, it is being a responsible citizen. Please
assist us by enforcing these values. The theft
monster is rearing its ugly head again. Please
ensure that your children do not bring any
valuables to school. Children must make sure
that all tog-bags are placed in the classrooms
during break. Theft is a very serious matter and
we investigate all incidents.
TRAFFIC
Last Friday, my worst nightmare became a
reality. Thankfully, no damage was done and
both driver and pedestrian were unharmed. The
observance of the traffic rules around the school
is a priority. Far too many parents are parking
badly, facing into on-coming traffic, and even
driving onto the pavement itself. You are
endangering the lives of our children.
HOLIDAYS
We wish all our families a wonderful holiday, safe
journeys and a safe return on 18 April.

SCHOOL UNIFORMS
Our sports uniforms can look so smart if worn
correctly. Unfortunately, some of the children are
not wearing it properly. Once again we ask your
assistance in keeping our children smart and
proud of their uniforms.
STAFF
Mrs. Marais, Mrs. Tallack and Mrs. Duley are
leaving us at the end of the term. We wish them
everything of the best in their business ventures.
We thank the teachers for their dedication to our
children and Mrs. Duley for consistently striving
to ensure that we are all on the cutting edge of
computer technology.
To the six families who will be leaving Bryandale
– we wish them happiness in their new schools.
Congratulations to Miss. Dale, who will be
getting married to Zac Swallow on 25 March. We

SCROLLS - CRICKET
These are pupils who have shown sustained

CRICKET
week ending 17 March 2006
U10s Played against Dainfern with the A side
winning by 2 wickets. Braden Stephens and
Jordan Marshall took 3 wickets and Robin
Smith made 30 runs. The B side made 42 runs
and lost by 1 wicket.
Under 11A made 200 runs for 4 wickets in only
25 overs. They bowled Bryneven out for 117 and
won by 83 runs. Allan Hector made 70 runs not
out and Sheldon de Robillard made 79 runs.
The Bs made 84 runs and bowled Bryneven out
for only 45 runs. The whole team contributed
towards the batting and bowling figures.
U13s played against Bryneven, the As made a
brilliant 216 runs for 6 wickets, they then bowled
Bryneven out for 128 winning by 88 runs. Kyle
Drake made 85 runs and Robert Carlisle made
71 runs and took 2 wickets…
The B side made 99 runs all out and restricted
Bryneven to only 89 runs. Corbin de Kock made
52 runs and Tyron Bond took 3 wickets for 8
runs, the whole team played very well.
The C team had an SA in Australia type of
game…they were chasing 132 to win and ahead
on the run rate when lightening intervened and
stopped play!
The D team made 98 runs for 7 and bowled
Bryneven out for 50 runs!! Well done to Jessica
Perreira, Ben & Brandon Treadwell for each
taking 2 wickets.
Cs & Ds unbeaten so far – Well Done!!
TENNIS
The Senior Boys played Tennis against
Laerskool Jan Celliers who won by 29 to 34.
The Senior Girls last match of the term was
against Blairgowrie. Bryandale won with a score
of 54 to 9.

SOCCER
There was a six a side soccer tournament held at
Parktown Boys High on Friday 17th March. Our
squad of 8 boys played very well and after
loosing the 1st game remained unbeaten for the
rest of the Tournament!! Congratulations for
achieving 2nd place and winning a very generous
prize of a kit voucher for the First Team!! Well
done boys!!
SPECIAL MENTION
Mr. de Beer would like to make special mention
of two recent exceptional cricket scores that were
achieved by two of our teams against Bryneven!
Perhaps they were inspired by the Proteas’
recent one day record-setting victory?
The U11A Team scored 200 runs in only 25
overs with Alan Hector scoring 70 not out and
Sheldon de Robillard 79 Runs. We won by 89
runs.
The 1st Team Scored 216 Runs for their 30
overs with Kyle Drake scoring 85 runs and
Robert Carlisle scoring 71.
We won by 88 runs… Excellent play Boys!!!
COMPUTER COURSE
COMPUTERS FOR BEGINNERS
We will be running a new Beginner’s Computer
Course on Saturday March 25th at 11h00. This
course runs for 6 weeks. Training is aimed at
people with very little or no computer skills. The
Introduction to Computers is a hands-on
computer training course, which covers:
