I am of the opinion among the external organs in the human body the hand perform maximum activities. The hand is used to consume food and other items for survival. Hand is used to resist the opponent. Hand is used for maximum other activities by humans. Let me go to some interesting points about hand. Sincerely Gopala krishnan 17-3-2011 1. Kaiyyookku ullavan Karyakkaran It is a saying in Malayalam. The man who has strength in hand will be the prime person. Even literally taking the meaning, the person who has physical strength will always the leader. It also applies to a resourceful person. He will be the chief. A learnt person or wealthy will be admired by others. In the Mahabharatha story Bhima had a prime position because he had physical strength. When ever persons talk of physical strength, it is told strength like Bhima. But Bhima was a god fearing and he was very dutiful in worshipping Gods. 1a. Dhitharashtra Alinganam. Though blind Dhitharashtra was blind, he had physical strength much. Once he wanted to embrace all Pandavas. Srikrishna felt something rotten. While he desired to embrace all others were sent one by one for embracing. When it was the turn of Bhima, Srikrishna placed an iron idol in front instead of Bhima. As expected Dhitharashtra embraced tightly, instead of Bhima, the idol got broken in to pieces. This is called Dhitharashtra aalinganam. When a person is forceful in embracing or holding, this phrase is used some times. 2. Valathu cheyyunnathu, idathu kaai ariyaruthu

This is another saying. What is done by right had should not be known to left hand. This mean the people should be humble. After giving a donation of 1000-00 rupees, if the person start propagating his donation, there is nothing achieved out of it. 3. Kai neelam and kurukal. Hand is long means he is a more spending man but for required. Short means, he spends less than what is to be spent or cautiously spend. Hand is opened means spending much more with out accounts for wanted and unwanted things. Hand is closed means he is a miser depending on the tightness of closing. There are people who are with lengthy hand for wanted things, but close fist for unwanted things. These people surely saves more in money and all types of wealth. KAIMATAKKU is a word later developed indicating bribe. KAYYALAKATHAVAN is a term used to indicate a simpleton. He may not be able to do any thing effectively. 3a. Kaipidikkuka. It indicate a relation ship through marriage with opposite sex by a grown up. In Hindu and Christian religions the female and male partner hold hand in a marriage. 3c. Thaadikku kaikodukkuka. If a person put is hand or hands supporting his cheek, it is considered as a sign of sorrowful thinking. If a person simply folds his hands and sit, he is considered idle in nature. WHILE ASTROLOGY CONSULTATIONS ARE MADE, the person is first given certain directions for his behaviour and position of hand is one among them. Keeping both palms folded or simply keeping arms on thigh are considered good position of hands while sitting. While standing the hands can be to the sides. Moving both palms together is not considered good. 4. Sankhu chakra Gada Panae Dwaraka Nilayachutha When we talk of Gods and goddess, most are with some thing in their hands. Mahavishnu is depicted holding sankhu, chakram and Gada in his hand and blessing with another hand. Saraswathi is drawn holding veena and Grandha in her hand. There are Gods depicted asking for money. It is told in epics, Tirupathi sreenivasa is asking people to give money to repay the loan and interest he owe to Kubera for his marriage with Padmavathi. Normally

people visiting the temple make large offerings to their capacity. Though not extending hand, the Lord Siva at Ettumanoor is also to get offerings. 5. Kaineetuka This means to ask for help. NOT FOR ALMS. There are people self-dependent. They will not ask any help from others. They feel it as a prestige. They maintain themselves with in their income. 6. Handful. When measures are given to gods like parayidil, people take paddy in both hands, and put it in the measure. When water is offered during Sandhya Vandan, both handful water is offered standing in water in the river while performing arghyam. When with hesitation aval offering in a tied piece of cloth was given by kuchela to Krishna, Lord Krishna took a handful and put it in his mouth. The 2nd handful was stopped by Rukmini. 7. Closed palm The infants will have the palm always kept closed. We should not take effort to open it. The palm will be opened gradually as the infant grows as child and by about a year it will be fully opened. It is a sign of child growth. 8. Hands up Hands up and hands down, hands spread are all part of physical exercises taught in drill classes. If a person is not able to raise his hand, it is a problem to be seen. When a person express his defeating in a quarrel, he will raise his hand. Then further attacking should not be done on him. 9. Handsome and hands. What ever be a person handsome, his both hands will not be similar. There will be slight marking difference at least in length by a centimetre. It is not only with hands, but also with all organs, two in numbers. In the females it will be clearly visible with certain parts while development to youth. 10 Fingerprints and palmistry The finger prints are taken for identification. No two finger prints will be identical. The lines in the palm are read as a science and called palmistry.

11.Kaiyyoppu- Signature The signature of a person will also vary from another. The hand writing also vary from one person to other. Some people are able to write with left hand fluently. Some can write with both hands. Majority write with right hand. The reason how this occur is not clear. It is not necessary for a person to write with left hand, he should be left-handed. Alternatively all left handed people do not write with left hand. I am left-handed. But I can write only with right hand. 12. Use of hands Though we have two hands, we use either one or both as required for the occasion. For eating we use normally use right hand. For toilet use the right hand. Many people will receive money only if given by right hand. We use right hand for writing. But in computer works we use both the hands. For holding things like bigger coconuts we use both hands. For climbing trees we use both hands. During play to get foot ball the golly use both hands. In cricket both hands are used for bating. In playing cards both hands are used. For climbing up the stairs, either one hand or both hands are used. In kitchen both hands have to be used as required. For all yagyas both hands are used either intermittently or together occasionally. For abhishekam to the idol both hands are used by the priests. 13. Kaipunniam There is a word Kaippunniam. The grace of hand. This is specifically seen with doctors. If some doctors give even ordinary medicines, some illness troubling and complicated gets cured. Some ordinary ointment given by them will work wonders on body conditions like itching troubling for years. Similarly with money. If we get something precious like money or book from some persons it will get manifold. The reasons for the above are not coincidental, but facts observed and not possible to explain how and why of it. 14. Kara patiyattha kai. A person is said to have clean hand when he do not harm any body or being in any way. In Mahabharatha, Dharmaputhra is told as having a clean hand. When a person is straightforward he is said to have CLEAN HAND.

15. Description of hand The Hand has three major parts. The upper hand, the lower hand and the palm. The middle hand and upper hand bones are connected at Knee with a movable jointing arrangement. The upper hand is connected to shoulder similarly. The most important is the palm and fingers. With out palm and fingers, hand cannot function. The palm has flexible bones interconnected with lower hand in the wrist. Even in a finger there are three small bones interconnected. Many of the injections are given in hand. Temperature is measured in armpit. The life with out hand we cannot imagine. A person cannot walk with out moving his hand. But a person can do works with hand with out movement of legs!!. Hand in humans , monkeys and chimpanzee etc are developed for legs of animals. Shivering in the hands is a condition of illness. The palms has to be well cleaned also BEFORE EACH TAKING OF FOOD. The sweating in palm is considered an extreme condition of tension. Palm is the one of the organs hair do not grow in the body. Kaithadi ( waking stick) is used by elders for support while walking. Kaiyyura (gloves) is used for hygienic handling everywhere from Kitchen to Hospital. ABOUT THE AUTHORI am R.
