FIRE SUPRESSION SYSTEMS Overview Fire suppression systems were designed in accordance with the following standards: AS1940

AS2419.1 AS2941 AS2441 AS2118.3 AS1841.4 NFPA11 The storage and handling of flammable and combustible liquids Fire hydrant installations - Part 1 Fixed fire protection installations - Pumpset systems Installation of fire hose reels Automatic fire sprinkler systems - Part 3: Deluge systems Portable Fire Extinguishers Standard for Low-, Medium-, and High-Expansion Foam

The land facility is predominantly protected by a hydrant network with foam branch-pipe connection capabilities. The flammable fuel storage tanks will have a fixed foam system installed and portable foam extinguishers will be located at all necessary locations. The wharf facility will be protected by two remote controlled, high-velocity water / foam monitors erected on 4 m high columns at either end of the loading / unloading dock. A deluge system will be installed along the access jetty to maintain a safe method of egress. Hose reels and portable foam extinguishers will also be installed in necessary locations. Land Facility Fire Hydrant System The hydrant system comprises of an underground network of Polyethylene piping with sub-surface hydrant connection points located around the protected areas at a spacing of 80 m and not within 15 m of hazardous equipment. Double Headed hydrant standpipes will be located on the dedicated Fire Service vehicle and connected to each point as required. Fire Hydrant header sizes shall be designed as per AS2419.1 with a minimum flow rate of 5 L/s at a pressure of 700 kPa. The hydrant standpipes will be double headed with the purpose of delivering fire water as a cooling media or foam to blanket a fuel fire. Hoses will be connected that allow a portable fog nozzle and foammaking branch-pipe with pick-up tube capable of producing 4 L/s at a minimum pressure of 400 kPa which will also be located on the Fire service vehicle. The system shall contain ring mains to ensure multidirectional flow in the system. Isolation valves shall be provided to enable isolation of any section of the network without affecting the flow in remaining areas. A fire pump skid complying with AS2941, with a capacity of 120 m3/hr, will feed the hydrant system with potable water from a 300 kL tank adjacent to the potable water tank.

Fixed Foam System The Unleaded Petrol and Jet A1 storage tanks will have fixed foam protection installed as per AS1940 & NFPA 11 which will comprise of two foam chambers fixed at 180 deg on the top of the tank capable of introducing 4 L/min.m2 of foam to the surface of the internal floating roof structures. A foam shed will be located outside the tank bund area which will house a 5000 L foam concentrate tank and foam FireDos pump that will introduce foam concentrate into a piping system connected to the foam chambers. Ancillary Equipment Portable foam fire extinguishers will be located in every building, at the fuel station and around all protected areas where necessary according to AS1940 and AS1841.8. A Fire alarm system will also be installed. Wharf Facility The Wharf facility will be protected by the following systems that will all be fed by a large sea water Fire pump skid adjacent to the office building. The pump-set is designed in accordance with AS2941 and have a capacity of 470 m3/hr at 100 m. Every time the system is either tested or operated it will be flushed and rested with potable water sourced from a 22 kL tank located at the office area also. Fire Monitor System The loading / unloading dock will be protected by two remote controlled fire monitors located on 4 m high steel columns at either end on mooring dolphins. The monitors will be fed from a similar foam shed with a 5000 L foam tank and FireDos pump and will be capable of producing a flow rate of 32 L/s at a pressure of 690 kPa. Deluge Sprinkler System Sprinkler heads capable of delivering 1.25 L/s of water will be spaced at 3 m intervals along the jetty walkway to act as a cooling media to the pipeline and ensure that a safe method of egress is available. Hose Reels High-velocity hose reels capable of producing 3.75 L/s of water will be located at the land side and sea dock for handheld use. Ancillary Equipment Portable foam fire extinguishers will be located where necessary and a fire alarm system will be installed.
