The Hague The bachelor programmes at The Hague focus on Communication (International Communication Management), Media & Entertainment Management, Marketing Management and Business Administration. It is involved with the community and accessible to everyone. Since INHolland University The Hague is a relatively small-scale school, it is able to pay a lot of attention to the individual student and address specific student issues. The royal city of The Hague is full of life. When it comes to culture, its in a prime location. It hosts international festivals and has a wide range of museums, cinemas, theatres and music cafs which guarantee plenty of variety and diversity. The Hague is a beautiful and charming city which is in constant motion. The historic centre is characterised by small streets, pleasant piazzas and many cafs where you can also sit outside to eat and drink. You can relax here as well as enjoy the shopping. Whats more, the lively seaside resort of Scheveningen is just a short tram ride away. Most rooms are reasonably priced, and there are student flats next to the university which accommodate up to ninety students. The university building has many facilities: a good-quality restaurant, a beautiful garden, a library, various places to work and study either alone or with other students, a silence centre and modern computer workstations. Theres even a temping agency for students. The university has extensive modern ICT facilities that enable you to complete your assignments on site or at home, and it has its own students association which organises lots of activities throughout the year.
Amsterdam/Diemen The campus Amsterdam/Diemen offers a range of bachelor programmes in Communication, Media & Entertainment Management, Economics & Management, Health, Sport, Welfare & Life Sciences, Teaching & Education, Social Work, Ideology and Technology & Logistics. The campus is a mirror image of Amsterdam. Just like the inhabitants of the capital city, it is convinced that great new things stem from diversity, which is why its so international. There are at least seventy different nationalities among the student population just one reason why its the place to prepare for our increasingly global lifestyle. Of course, everybody has heard of Amsterdam. The Dutch capital with its picturesque canals and canal houses is the perfect place to study. Theres no other city in the Netherlands where you will find so many trendy bars, restaurants, pubs, nightclubs, cinemas and theatres. There are internationally famous clubs and stages, and you can shop till you drop. It is full of energy day and night! INHolland University Amsterdam/Diemen offers many facilities. College halls, practical training rooms and project rooms are fully equipped for a modern education. It has various cafs where you can relax after classes. You can make use of a good-quality restaurant, the library, a copy shop, professional audio-visual media and modern computers. The university also has extensive ICT facilities which mean you can do your projects throughout the university or at home. It has a silence centre where you can pray (all religions), meditate or simply relax in peace. It also has a range of on-site shops such as a hairdresser, a bookshop, a business laboratory and an advertising agency. INHolland Amsterdam/Diemen has several locations: De Boelelaan (Health, Sport, Welfare & Life Sciences, and Social Work), Laan van Kronenburg (Teaching & Education and Religion), Louwesweg (Dental Care), and Wildenborch (Communication, Media & Entertainment, and Economics & Management). Each location has easy access to public transport. Haarlem INHolland University Haarlem focuses on economics, technology, education, health care, social work and media-entertainment. Within each of these fields, it offers a wide range of bachelor programmes. It prides itself on its enterprising and progressive approach to
education. Haarlem offers programmes such as International Business & Management Studies, Media & Entertainment Management, and Tourism & Recreation Management. Haarlem is not only the attractive and historic centre of the Netherlands bulb-growing district. It is also a student town with a long tradition of student associations there are currently at least sixteen! The town offers a variety of art, culture and events, and it has a unique selection of shops, bars and cafs, making it a great place to socialise. The universitys building has been purpose-built with an eye on the educational and technical demands of today. It has extensive facilities for students, from a library with various databases and a fine restaurant to excellent computer facilities and an on-site bookshop. There are plenty of study places and project rooms, a repro-centre and a service desk where you can borrow professional audio-visual media. The extensive modern ICT facilities enable you to complete your assignments here or at home.
You can even use your own laptop as the whole building has an excellent wireless network (WiFi). There is a built-in recording studio for the Media & Entertainment Management course, enabling students to work on professional TV and radio productions essential for practical experience. It also has a student broadcasting station (FEELIN) which is run for and by the students. There is a sports hall available to all students and employees of INHolland University as well. The campus is easily reached by public transport. Theres a railway station within walking distance, and various bus lines which run nearby. Rotterdam INHolland University Rotterdam offers bachelor degrees in Communication (International Communication Management), Media & Entertainment Management, Management & Economics, Law & Administration, Teaching & Education and Social Work, giving students a range of options. Studying in Rotterdam means studying in a world city. Over the last few years, it has become known as a city of culture; it hosts several annual festivals and boasts a variety of small and large museums. Going out and socialising can be great fun here. You can go shopping or dancing, visit one of the many cafes and clubs and admire Rotterdams impressive skyline and modern architecture. Most students find suitable and affordable accommodation in Rotterdam within a relatively short time. The university itself is housed in a modern, transparent building in the new development of the old harbour. The premises are eight stories high and built out of glass and steel. There is a breathtaking view over the river and the iconic Erasmus Bridge. The building is very near the lively centre of Rotterdam, and it is easy to reach by public transport: metro and tram stops
are just a stones throw away, and the railway stations are just a ten-minute walk away. There is a large, decent restaurant, a bookshop and a library. There is a silence centre where you can pray (all religions), meditate or simply relax in peace, and there are special facilities which give better access to the physically disabled. Modern computer workstations and study areas provide places for you and your team to study, and the extensive ICT facilities make it possible to do your assignments here as well as at home. Finally, there are two very active student associations which organise activities throughout the year such as skiing and sailing weeks, a gala, debates, themed parties and various social gatherings.
Programmes
INHolland University of Applied Sciences offers a broad range of international bachelor programmes, all taught in English. The bachelor programmes range from business to technology. Not only do they provide excellent management prospects in a dynamic and highly competitive professional world, they also provide the skills necessary to work in a multi-cultural environment. Curriculum All our bachelor degree programmes are based on the major/minor model. This means the programme consists of: a major, a specialisation minor and a differentiation minor. The major (50%) focuses on the broad range of knowledge and abilities that you need to become a manager in your chosen career. In the minor (25%), you specialise in specific areas of your choice. You use the remaining 25% of the minor to differentiate your learning programme according to your own preferences and ambitions. Key elements of education You will divide your time between lectures, tutorials, projects, group work, self-study, field trips and other activities. You will also work in small, multi-cultural teams solving real-life, work-related problems. This is a great learning experience both personally and professionally. Internships As a part of your studies you will undergo a compulsory internship, (usually) in the third year of your studies. This will give you the opportunity to put your theoretical knowledge into practice. By the time you graduate, you will have already gained valuable work-experience, giving you a jump-start in your career. There is more and more demand for real-time information in todays business world. Information, and the communication of it, is the life-blood of organisations. This means the role of the information technology engineer is crucial, too. Nearly all organisations make use of computerised technology from global networks and databases to a PC on a desk. Therefore, IT professionals are essential to keep the modern wheels of business turning. INHolland Universitys bachelors degree in Information Technology teaches you how to become one of these valuable professionals. Themes To develop the knowledge, skills and know-how that you need for a career in Information Technology, our programme focuses on software, hardware and mathematical modelling, as well as mathematical subjects related to engineering programs. Vital communication skills and knowledge of how to run and organise a business is also part of the programme. Subjects include programming, software engineering, network management, computer architecture, mathematics, report writing and presentations, business organisation management and international corporate strategy. Profile of the profession Professional IT engineers are motivated fastthinkers who enjoy working in a dynamic and specialised environment. They need good communicative skills, and they know how to implement their analytical skills and technological knowledge. They move from solving day-to-day technical problems to realising the strategy of their organisation. Whether they are an employee working behind the scenes, a freelance consultant working on the front line, or an entrepreneur running their own business, they make a difference to every organisation. Positions open to IT engineers can generally be grouped into software development; database management and the development of database applications; network design and management; and web-based applications and IT consultancy. Potential employers include software houses, banks, data communication companies, e-commerce companies, government organisations and IT consultancy firms. Structure of programme The Information Technology programme consists of a major, a specialisation minor and a differentiation minor. The major develops your basic competencies in information technology, and the minors allow you to specialise and personalise your course. We believe in competence-based education at INHolland University, so you do practical (lab) work in addition to attending lectures and classes. This practical work can be performed individually or in small (multicultural) groups and is assessed throughout the programme. In the third year, you do a six-month internship in an (international) organisation. Specifics This is four-year, full-time programme. When you graduate, you will be awarded the degree Bachelor of Engineering (B Eng). This internationally recognised degree means you can apply for masters programmes in the Netherlands and abroad. This programme is available at the INHolland campus of Amsterdam/Diemen. The certification code is 35168. This English Stream programme is officially registered as Bedrijfswiskunde. INHolland Universitys bachelors degree in Leisure Management focuses on an industry that affects us all. We all like to make the most of our free time, whether its seeing the latest film at the cinema, playing our favourite sport, attending that long-awaited concert, or getting our thrills in a theme park. The leisure industry is not only booming, its also an important part of the economy. Its growth and diversity has a huge impact on business today. This brings fresh challenges to those providing our leisure facilities: how to continually satisfy that demand and how to ensure high quality services enrich our lives. Themes This programme helps you to achieve the knowledge, skills and attitude needed for a successful career in leisure management. Themes include working with clients; creating and organising leisure products; managing a business (finance, policy-making, quality assurance, production processes, marketing & project management); teamwork, leadership and communication; maintaining external contacts and contributing to the study of leisure through research and information analysis. Profile of the profession Most Leisure Management graduates take their skills and knowledge into a wide variety of settings within the fields of arts, tourism, events, the media, sport and recreation. Leisure managers work in a variety of environments which include cultural organisations, international congresses, global sporting events, exhibitions, theme parks, theatres, cinemas, museums, sports centres and festivals. Examples of positions open to graduates are event management, festival management and congress and conference management. Structure of programme The leisure programme consists of a major, a specialisation minor and a differentiation minor. The major develops your basic competencies in tourism, and the minors allow you to specialise and tailor your course to match your personal interests and ambitions. It is a project-based programme which means working in multicultural project groups on assignments to identify and solve complex problems. You also attend lectures and workshops and, in your third year, you do an internship (preferably) abroad. There are project tutors and a personal study coach who guide and support you, but you set your own learning goals, identify your strengths and weakness, and reflect on your achievements. This requires a significant degree of individual input, and you must be able to structure and manage your own time. Specifics Leisure Management is a four-year full-time programme. When you graduate, you will be awarded the degree Bachelor of Business Economics (B Ec). Themes Since any company can achieve a global presence from day one, our programme focuses on international business. We consider questions such as: how does a consumer behave and why? How should we calculate the cost price? How can we optimise distribution and logistics? Who is our target group and how do we communicate effectively with it? How do we manage customer relations and improve our competitiveness? Other topics include analysing customer behaviour, optimising supply chains and e-business, helping a company establish a global presence, and dealing with clients from different cultures. Profile of the profession Marketing managers play an important role in business because marketing and management are at the heart of every organisation. Therefore, the marketing manager is an essential member of any management team. Successful marketing managers understand how to respond to the demands of the international market and how to communicate effectively with people from divergent cultures. As a marketing management graduate, you have an array of positions open to you. Some of the highest paying and most sought-after jobs in business, governments and NGOs are: Marketing Manager, Product Manager, Purchasing Manager, Marketing Communication Manager, Client Services Manager and Account Managers in Advertising. Since marketing managers need to communicate effectively in an international environment, we offer instruction in French, Spanish, English and German, all by native speakers. In the third year, there is a 23-week internship in an approved (international) company of your choice. Specifics The Marketing Management programme is small scale which means you will have plenty of personal contact with lecturers, tutors and a study coach. This is the central point of contact for international students with questions about studying at INHolland University of Applied Sciences. As a prospective student, you can ask the IIRO to send you a programme brochure or registration package. This you must do via Studielink at www.Studielink.nl. Please note that the enrolment procedure for international applications can take more than three months. To improve your chances of following the course of your choice, we advise you to enrol as early as possible and send in all the required documents. Admission requirements English test: The ability to understand, speak, read and write English at a good level is the most essential requirement for foreign students wishing to enter a Dutch university. Students from non-native speaking countries (countries other than the United Kingdom, Ireland, the United States of America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa) need an IELTS certificate with an average score of 6 for writing, reading, listening and speaking. The IELTS certificate is compulsory for Chinese students, although other international students may enter with a TOEFL certificate iBt 80 (Internet Based Test) with an overall score of 80 on reading, writing, listening, speaking. The Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) and Proficiency in English (CPE) are also accepted. For more information on TOEFL, visit www.ETS.org. For more information on IELTS, visit www.IELTS.org. School diploma: A secondary school diploma and final grade list is required for entering a bachelors degree programme. If your diploma and transcript is in English, German, French or Spanish, send a copy of both with your application form to INHolland University of Applied Sciences. If your diploma is in any other language, you will also need to enclose a certified translation (in English, German, French or Spanish) of your diploma and transcript. Please note that foreign diplomas are evaluated to check that you have the required level to enter the degree programme of your choice. You will also need to show your original diploma and transcript to our Student Administration upon arrival.

Do you need a visa (MVV)? Nationals from the following countries do NOT need a visa: Australia, Canada, Iceland, Japan, Monaco, New Zealand, Norway, South Korea, Switzerland, the United States of America and all EU-member states. Nationals from any other country do need a visa. INHolland University of Supplied Sciences will help you if you need a visa by applying for a visa (MVV) on your behalf. We have a special visa service to do this, which is free of charge. You can contact this service by e-mail: VisaService@INHolland.nl or by phone +31 (0)23 522 3275. What about the costs? The tuition fee for the academic year 2009-2010 has not been determined yet. To give you an indication, the 2008-2009 fees were 1,565 for Dutch and EU students, and 6,500 for nonEU students. If you have a Dutch bank account, you can pay your tuition fees in ten instalments. The cost of books and readers is between approximately 500 and 1,250 in the first year. Many of these books will be referred to throughout the programme, so the cost will be lower in subsequent years. How do you enrol? International Offices The International Office is one of the first contact points for international students at INHolland. Each INHolland location has an International Office. The office assists all INHolland students with non-study related issues, such as information on studying abroad, grants and scholarships, and questions related to IND (Dutch Immigration and Naturalisation Service). It also organises social activities for international students, advises Schools on the internationalisation of curricula, organises symposiums on internationalisation, and negotiates and maintains contracts with partner institutions abroad.
