Many people thing that the terrorist feel they have been wronged by something or someone and that

giving them something will end the fight be it land or money, but history has repeatedly shown us that by appeasing the terrorists we are only giving them what they want, and prolonging the fight. They will continue to take everything they are given but they never stop wanting more. An example of this is clear in the Israeli- Palestinian conflict. Israel allows the PLO to return to the west bank and Gaza and form the Palestinian Authority, Israel supplied weapons and the Americans provided training to the Palestinians so they could start a army to fight crime and terrorism. Israel was repaid by the terrorists by suicide bombings in malls, restaurants, clubs and busses. More recently Israel pulled all Jews from Gaza and gave all the land to the Palestinians. The Israelis left behind infrastructure and greenhouses, which could have been used for businesses by the Palestinians. The moment the last troops were out of Gaza the terrorists destroyed what the Israelis left behind and again repaid them with rockets on Sderot and Ashkelon, two Jewish cities bordering Gaza. Many of you are thinking that these problems were brought on by the Israelis stealing Palestinians land, but what was it that the United States did that angered Al Qaeda? Many will say it is because America has troops in Saudi Arabia where the two holiest locations to the Muslim people are, these people are wrong. This fight is not about the terrorists wanting America out of the Middle East. This was is about the pride of one individual. Osama Bin Laden, and that's all it is about. In 1991 when Saddam Hussein Invaded Kuwait, Saudi Arabia was worried and was looking to get help to protect its oil fields. Osama Bin Laden offered his assistance to help protect his homeland with the help of his Mujahadim, who had helped protect Afghanistan from the Russians in the 80's. But rather then gamble on Bin Laden's holey warriors, the Saudis asked for help from the United States, and this wounded Bin Laden's pride. Now Bin Laden is on a quest to show the world that he is the true protector of Islam, do not be fooled this is a war of religion. The only thing that has ever worked is not to try to negotiate with these people but to fight them with force. You will find that with any military action against terrorists once you start to make some headway they will start to yell about a Hudna or temporary cease fire. When you are in a poker tournament in Casinos Online or land based and your opponent is almost out of chips, do you back off and let your enemy regroup or go all in and force him out. The Only way to defeat terrorism is to fight terrorism whenever and wherever it shows its head, and to never let up on those who would use terror to forward their goals.

!. For all to be aware of their surroundings and the possible scenarios. 2. Terrorism is caused by dictatorships. George Bush has the right idea, to end dictatorships, either by theUS deposing them militarily, or by the oppressed people rising up to depose the dictators. I haven't heard a better idea of how to end terrorism. Trying to ignore terrorism is not it. Hoping terrorism goes away by itself is not good. 3. Poverty Racism Nationalism Xenophobia Disenfranchisment Elitism

Unfettered and uncontrolled capitalism Religous Extremism All in that order! 4. I'm not sure if you can stop it anymore. I think it can be lessened quite a bit; and I do agree with the previous answerer that removing the funding is probably the best way. However, I disagree with a military way of doing it. There are various problems that all lead to the creation of terrorist groups. The biggest two are the inherent weakness of a poor state with big ambitions (Afghanistan, North Korea, Iran, Iraq, Syria, and so on) and the indifference of the bigger and richer nations (America, Britian, France, Russia, and so on from there). When the time came for the Allies in WW2 to decide what to do with the world in the aftermath, they completely ignored the Arabic/Persian peoples; America in particular. All of those countries felt that it would be politically advantageous to try to make up for the Holocaust by providing Jews with their own homeland. A worthy goal, but the promptly put it land that was home to quite a few Palestinians at the time. I'm not blaming the Jews mind you, but the Palestinians felt slighted by the takeaway of what they saw as their homeland. The Jews didn't really have a choice in location either, it was simply given them and they took it. But Arabs saw that as a huge slight to them; secularly true, but even more on a religious basis since some of their holy land is in present-day Israel. Added to that, America started setting up military bases throughout their land without their consent and on their holy land as well. Which only served to tick them off more. Many power-hungry dictators took advantage of this by telling a bunch of ticked-off Arabs that they could and would deal "properly" with those that had done these injustices. They blamed Jews for taking the land and Americans for backing them up and giving them the land (and taking some themselves). But of course, there is no way they could fight us on an equal level. So with a little propaganda and high talk of martyrdom, the power-hungry dictators that had been put in power based on their talk of fighting the "Great Satan" that had taken their holy land started convincing their subjects that they should become terrorists. Talk of "you will die, but Allah will give you paradise with 70 virgins because you died fighting to gain back what was taken from God." If you heard that enough from the time you were very little you'd believe it too. And I know if I thought it was true I'd be more than happy to find myself some virgins ready and willing to go at it. Now that we know why they do it, it can be easier to stop it. Unfortunately, we are seen as the devil. If Satan himself came to you and asked you to quit attacking him because he is doing something good for you, would you stop? Of course not, since it would be fighting for God. That is how they see it. We can tell them we are there for them but they see it as nothing more than lies designed to limit resistance while we commit more evil. And I reiterate that I know we are doing good and not just a bunch of talk, but they don't see it that way. And I don't think we can convince the terrorists themselves. But done properly we might be able to "convince" their funding governments it is better if they stopped the funding. We have the unfortunate tendency to lump all Arabs together and think they are all willing to die. Most are like us, they just want to live happy and as easily as possible. If they think we can do it for them, they'll take it. If they think the terrorists can do it, they'll take that. But this Iraq war has them convinced no one is on their side and that both sides (America and Insurgency) are out for their own power. If we leaveIraq, I believe it will go a long way toward convincing the Iraqi people we aren't out for world domination or control of their country. At first violence will rise, but eventually enough Iraqis will see what civil war is doing to them and they will work for peace themselves. It will eventually work itself out, that is the way of life. It will always balance so that it can continue to exist.

Less angry Arabs mean less converts to terrorism. But now to the government. Iran, Syria, so many more are all out for their own power (the governments, and I know they are because all leaders are--that is the nature of those with ambition). If you can show them how continued terrorism will end with the loss of their own power, they'll work themselves to stop it (mainly by cutting off their funding). Leaving Iraq can free up our armed forces and give us something to threaten with. Iran, Venezuela, North Korea are all uppity because they know we can't commit forces to attacking them strongly enough to overthrow them. But pull out and we will have the more troops available for threatening. And if those in power over in those countries begin to see we can remove them, they'll back off. They encourage terrorism because it is an effective method for attacking a larger foe like America. But ifAmerica is strong enough to remove them from power, they'll quit encouraging attacks on America out of fear of the loss of power. Saddam stood his ground at the beginning of the war because he thought France,Russia and China would step in on his behalf militarily; and America would not stand against all three. He was wrong (they just wanted to stay out completely), but because he thought (thought being the most important word here) he could survive the attack with power intact he pressed the issue. With diplomacy and working with the other nations, and a decent threat from an unencumbered military onAmerica's behalf; we can all stand together against Iran and north Korea and Venezuela and restore peace. Terrorism will continue, but much more limited without backing from these states. First, get out of the United Nations, which is the world headquarters for terrorism. Next, refrain from becoming involved in foreign wars. Never go to war without a Declaration of War from Congress. Stop taking sides with nations and factions that are fighting. Gee, that sounds like what the liberals and neocons call "Isolationism". The alternative is perpetual war for perpetual peace.
