Introduction
I am so pissed off, my sister doesnt let me use the phone, and shes always talking with her boyfriend and friends. My mom and dad make me do study and clean the house all the time. My brother is always telling me how nice and good son he is. My dad wont let me go out with my friend because he says the city is not safe anymore. I hate my life.

Our family is one of the most important things in our life, whether we get along or not. But there are certain situations that make us feel frustrated and we have the need to express them.

Well, in this unit you will learn to use certain verbs to communicate your feeling about your family, friends, work and school. Also you will learn to talk about the memories of your family using the grammatical structures used to and would to express stories from the past. As you can see, these two topics are very common and personal. The fact that you will be able to express your feelings and talk about the happiest memories in your life will help you to communicate better with your friends.

Used to and would

Learning notes: Remember these topics are used to talk about memories or situations that happened in the past. Example: I had a wonderful childhood. I used to be with my family all the time. We would travel to many different places during the summer and winter holidays. We used to visit my grandparents and stay in their farm. My dad used to read at night to us and my mom used to cook our favorite food. I miss being a child. My parents are divorced and we dont travel together anymore.

Closing
My grandpa died a couple of years ago; today the whole family will come to my grandmas house to celebrate him. He was a great man, he used to play soccer and read to us stories at night. He would talk to me about his life, and help my dad whenever we had problems. He was a great man and I miss him a lot. In this unit you learned two important topics, the first one: How to express your feelings mainly when you are angry or upset with someone. And in the second topic you learned to talk about your family memories, using the grammatical structures used to and would.

As you can see it is very important for all the people to express their emotions. Relationships are never easy and most likely someday you will have problems with the people around you. Because we arent the same, we think, feel and have different opinions; it is common to have these confrontations. Also talking about our family and our memories is very important, because it gives us the chance to share with our friends our feelings and stories about the people we care the most.
