Project Management Options

Customers often utilize multiple project management tools within their organization. Primavera gives you a choice. With Evolve, you can manage your tasks and WBS with any of the following:
Evolve native project management capabilities Microsoft Professional desktop (ProjectLink) Microsoft Project Server 2007 (ProjectServerLink)

Synchronization from Evolve

MSPS Benefits:
Primavera leverages and integrates with the delivered Microsoft Project Server APIs This allows us to share global data (e.g., resources), and enterprise configuration data (e.g., Calendar Policies and Task Codes) It also ensures that information is visible not just within a specific project plan, but also to enterprise stakeholders

Evolve Data into Project Server

Primavera provides Microsoft users with this data:
Positions and Staffing information Enterprise Resources and their calendars Project calendars Non-project commitments Actuals and ETC

Project Server Data into Evolve

Microsoft provides the following transferred data to Evolve:
Tasks Schedules Milestones Task Assignments

Add PWA Data to the Evolve Dashboard

Publishing from MSPS to Evolve

As part of the MSPS integration, you can push changes from MSPS to Evolve by using MSPs Publish function. Note: The ProjectServerLink resolution screens and options exist in Evolve. This differs from ProjectLink, where the options and resolution screens reside within MS Project desktop.

Conflict Resolution Screen

Publish from MSP Desktop into Evolve

Project Creation
MSPS integration provides flexibility in how an Evolve project links to an MSPS project:
Link an Evolve project to an existing MSPS project by selecting from a list of MSPS projects Create a new MSPS project based on the Evolve project dates using a pre-defined MSPS template Create a new MSPS project based on the Evolve project dates without a WBS (no template)

Global Catalogs
One advantage of MSPS is global catalogs: data that can be applied to any MSP project, and subsequently copied to Evolve. Evolve can load the following as global catalogs:
Task Codes and Task Groups Holiday and Workweek schedules for resources and projects (calendars in MSP) Resources

Is the ProjectLink Sample Macro In the MSPS Integration?

In the MS ProjectLink integration, we supplement the delivered functionality with customizable visual basic code. Microsoft Project Server 2007 leverages a different technical platform than the desktop tool. Therefore, with the MSPS integration, we include most of the macro functionality built in. This includes:
Download Evolve Calendars to MSP Download Resource information such as non-project commitments to MSP Download Actuals and ETC from Evolve to MSP Resolve resources that are unknown

Is the ProjectLink Sample Macro In the MSPS Integration? (cont.)

The following functionality is not included in the MSPS integration. It is still available via MS ProjectLink.
The ability to create positions from MSPS into Evolve The ability to replace a position with a resource assignment on a task Transferring custom field data from MSPS to Evolve.

Support for Federated Servers

Microsoft Project Server supports Federated Servers: network of MS Project Servers. Evolve supports Federated Servers in these ways:
A single Evolve server can connect to any number of MSPS Servers Each Evolve project can connect to any configured MSPS server connection
