Practice Solutions offer a series of open seminars for organisations who wish to access up-to-date and informative events that will benefit the professional development of their staff and quality of service delivery. Each session is unique and designed to inform and raise awareness of key issues affecting the health and social care sector.

Mental Health Legislation


Thursday 20th October, 9.30am 4.30pm
This program has been designed to focus on the provisions of the new Mental Health law which comes into force within the next 12 months. The law affects local authorities, LHBs, advocacy providers and clinicians. Our associate Jonathan Morgan, who will be facilitating the event, has spent 12 years at the heart of the Assemblys decision making process and is passionate about ensuring that organisations have the right tools and knowledge to effectively deliver change. Learning Outcomes: Provide an insight into what the Welsh Government is seeking to change with this reform of Welsh mental health law Explain what the implementation of the Mental Health Measure means for patients, advocates, LHBs and local authorities Explore and outline practical solutions to organisations facing the new responsibilities in the legislation Cost: 125 + VAT per delegate

RBA Training Workshops


Thursday 17th November, 9.30am 4.30pm
using RBA as an effective basis for the commissioning of services To demonstrate the benefits of a Results Based Accountability approach to the delivery of high quality, cost effective services. Workshop aims: Explain how RBA can be used to inform the service commissioning process List possible outcomes in relation to service delivery and identify the evidence necessary to measure performance Explain how an RBA approach that evidences performance can assist completion of the newly introduced CCISW self assessment questionnaire Demonstrate how an RBA approach informs effective business planning and performance management Cost: 125 + VAT per delegate

Shaping Future Legislation


Thursday 10th November, 9.30am 12.30pm
In the autumn term the Assembly will start the consultation process on new laws for Wales that will have a direct impact on the health and social care sector. In response to this, our seminar will explore ways in which the sector can influence future legislation and ensure that organisations have the right tools and knowledge to effectively deliver change. Aims for this course are to: Explore the new challenges that will be attempting to influence legislation Understand how Wales can benefit from the construction of good laws based on evidence and constructive engagement. Cost: 55 + VAT per delegate

The Importance of Supervision


Thursday 8th December, 9.30am 12.30pm
Supervision is arguably one of the most important tools in the professional armoury of the health and social care worker/provider. Through the supervision process workers are enabled and given the confidence to develop skills, gain knowledge and receive support to deliver a high quality service to the organisations customers/clients. Research suggests that teams which have an active policy of Supervision stay together longer and are less likely to make serious and often costly errors in service provision and delivery. Aims for this course are to: To emphasise the importance of all staff receiving good quality Supervision To outline the core components of the Supervision relationship To explore different models of Supervision Cost: 55 + VAT per delegate
