Assignment Handout: You have become a psychologist. You find that there are many ideas going through your mind as you learn about Piaget, Erikson, Freud, and Adler. You start to think Hmm, maybe I can create theory about developmental psychology based on parts of these theories. For your unit project, you will have to create a hypothesis which could potentially become a theory in developmental psychology. You will create a hypothesis which integrates information from the theories we will discuss in class. I will provide as much assistance throughout this project as necessary. Once you have your hypothesis in mind, and OKd by the teacher, you will begin to find ways to test your theory. Essentially, you will be using the scientific method. To test your hypothesis, we will take trips to the local daycare towards the end of the unit. You will be observing children ages 2-5. You will have to create a grid on which you will keep track of whatever you are observing. Throughout the trips to the daycare, you will keep a journal to help me address whatever issues you are having with the project. Please see the rubric for how you will be graded.
