They smelling candles his sister was selling for knew mom was going to find something for a school fundraiser so he went to work on creating manly-scented candles. Hart Main is thirteen years old and already a CEO of Man Cans. His product is the many scents he has created for the male sector. Imagine aromas of fresh cut grass, new mitt, or campfire. On the other hand, how about bacon, pizza, or leather? Young Main uses most things recycled to produce his product. He donates the chicken soup to Soup Kitchens and then recycles the cans for his candles. Our Daily Bread in Lima is one of the recipients of Harts soup. He has donated over 11,000 cans of soup Hart Main surrounded by his Man can candles to date. The brown paper label is which come in manly scents such as bacon, campfire, made from recycled paper. business started in the family kitchen but it quickly outgrew the space and they are now manufactured at a local candle making facility to Harts specifications. The success of the candles has created a full time job for another employee. This has been a family affair as Hart is still a student trying to keep a 4.0 (GPA). He says it is hard to keep up and he does not have much spare time. No cries of Im bored heard at the Main home. Harts dad said he started this business to make enough money to buy a road bike to ride in triathlons. Hart spent the first $250 he made in the candle business on sponsoring his own baseball team this past summer in the local Marysville recreational league. Entrepreneur Hart has appeared on TV and has been written up in several newspapers. A local store, Back to Nature, sells Man Cans scented candles for $12.95 each. Word is that women are purchasing them for holiday gifts for the men on their Christmas list.

A Perfect Day
by Richard Paul Evans Reviewed by Skeet Wolters This book by Richard Paul Evans touches the heartstrings. I am not a big fan of Evans as I feel he often down plays or minimizes the women in his books. I feel he is excessively full of himself! Now, having said that, I admit this book was easy to read and took an interesting turn of events that made me want to say, Ha! The women got even with you! I will not give away the ending, and I recommend the book as it is interesting and has a message for all busy people these days. always wanted to write. She takes a job to cover finances and he stays home and writes the novel, A Perfect Day. A Perfect Day is a book about his wife, Allyson, and her last few months with her father as he suffers from cancer. The book jumps to the top of the bestseller list and becomes a big hit causing the writer to get a big head. He wants more and more of the fame and less of his wife and their child, Carson. Michael, an angel, enters into the picture and tells Robert he has X amount of days to live and that makes Robert take another look at what he is doing and what he wants from life. To tell more would take away the mystery of the book and I highly recommend you read it to find out for yourself. The Coldwater Public Library has the audio book version, paperback and regular fiction. An interesting aspect of The

Perfect Day is that the reader gets a glimpse of what the publishing world is all about. It is always pleasant to learn something new when we read a book. Happy reading! Skeet

The

white dress

Having a traditional white wedding dress is part of the dream for many modern brides. This year, beautiful white gowns are to be found in many different shades and textures. The tradition of wearing a white dress is relatively recent. When Queen Victoria was married in a white dress in the nineteenth century, all the Western world followed suit. Before that, brides wore their most beautiful dress, no matter the colour. While the white dress came to represent the virginal purity of the bride, in North America today it is mostly a stylistic convention. Now

most brides typically choose white dresses in a range of different shades and add creative touches with textures and accessories. Indeed, a bride will allow her personality to shine through the hue of white she chooses: diamond-sparkly pure white, pearlescent white, whites tinted with pink, ivory, and antiqued yellow. Each of these shades offers a unique look that sets the tone for the celebration. A fitted wedding gown must highlight the brides figure. The positioning of each bit of embroidery and each ornament on the gown must enhance the most beautiful features of the bride who wears it, while hiding any small imperfections. Everything should be designed to make her feel dazzling and glamorous. Ideally, the gown should Largest selection of Cake and Candy Decorating Supplies in the area have a timeless elegance. style, or with delicate, luxurious buttons, the gown will be in harmony with the personality of its owner. Those with more classic tastes will choose little or no embroidery; those with a more extravagant flair will be wild for sequins and shiny pearls. This year, there is a wonderful blending of the vintage dress with a modern look. Lace is used on gowns with tulip, empire, or A-line cuts. Straight-cut gowns embellished with satin ribbons or natural materials are also very popular. Many vintage style dresses are adorned with floral motifs that are created with fabrics, embroidery, or pearls. Fashion trends are also dictating both the combination of a simple cut with a large quantity of ornamentation or just the opposite. The key here is to find sumptuous fabrics and a perfect cut in order to create all the glamour a bride could want.

Tips to make your destination wedding a success
No two couples are the same, and as a result, no two weddings are ever the same. Weddings can run the gamut when it comes to style, from ultraformal, black-tie affairs to laidback ceremonies on the beach. One increasingly popular style is the destination wedding. When a couple decides to have a destination wedding, a walk down the aisle often takes place in a tropical locale. There are a host of factors that determine whether or not a destination wedding will go off without a hitch. Budget. Though destination weddings are often more affordable than traditional weddings, couples should still establish a budget. Destination weddings are typically more intimate affairs with far fewer guests. Fewer guests means fewer mouths to feed and less

money needed to feed them. However, destination weddings can also come with some hidden costs. For instance, couples might want to fly their parents or the bridal party. If the wedding is taking place out of the country, that can significantly increase the cost of the wedding. So before making a final decision on a destination, first determine how much can be spent and how that compares to what a wedding in a particular destination is going to cost. Attendance. Though a couple should get married in whatever location they prefer, most couples would prefer their most intimate friends and family members attend the services. Therefore, a successful destination wedding ensures those people closest to the couple can afford to attend. This means couples will need

to provide significant advance notice to friends and families. Save-the-date cards should be sent out earlier than they would be for standard weddings. This gives guests time to budget for the trip and align it with their work schedules. If late notice is given, then attendance will likely fall short of a couples expectations. Also, couples who give advanced notice but still find their guests cannot make it might want to reconsider the destination, instead looking for one thats more affordable. Help. Couples should know planning a destination wedding will go much more smoothly with the help of a wedding coordinator from the chosen destination. Such a coordinator will know the local vendors and procedures for getting married. Sometimes, this help is even

part of a resorts services. Couples who choose a resort destination for their wedding might want to consider only those resorts with on-staff wedding coordinators. If couples find a resort they love that doesnt provide a wedding coordinator, look for a coordinator whos readily available online. This will save money on costly international or long-distance telephone calls. Laws. Marriage laws vary de-

pending on location, and couples should research the marriage laws of any destination theyre considering before setting any plans in stone. Overseas marriage licenses arent necessarily as easy to obtain for nonresidents and might take a long time to be issued. Know the hurdles before deciding on a destination and setting the plans in motion.

NEWLY RENOVATED

A wedding doesnt have to be a mammoth event with 300 guests and a costly price tag. Many couples choose to walk down the aisle and then celebrate on a smaller scale. Millions of weddings take place across the globe every year. According to the Association for Bridal Consultants, the average American wedding includes 175 guests, and the average size of the wedding party is 12 people. Many couples may view these averages and feel pressured to throw a big wedding. But smaller events can be

Advantages to a smaller, intimate wedding

just as much fun and easier on the pocketbook as well. One of the more obvious advantages to a small wedding is the cost. Many large weddings cost between $20,000 and $30,000 dollars. A small wedding will

be significantly less simply because there are fewer people to feed. Catering costs account for a large chunk of wedding budgets. Another benefit to a smaller wedding is a couple may be able to afford a higher-priced venue. Maybe theres that historic castle or high-priced mansion that would be over budget if 200 guests were coming. With a much smaller guest list, the venue might now be affordable. Or, couples can look outside of wedding halls to restaurants for a nice dinner. Small weddings tend to be more intimate. Couples can spend more individual time with guests instead of having to spread their time thinly around a large reception hall. Special moments, such as speeches or words of wisdom, may bear more significance when the group is intimate. Destination weddings have become quite popular and are most successful with a small group. Keeping a large guest list in order can prove challenging when traveling, which makes destination weddings ideal for small guest lists. Also, costs will be kept down if the couple is paying the travel fees for invitees.

Observations ... by John Bruns WINNERS AND LOSERS against Nebraska was so bi-polar it was hard to describe if you did not It has not been a normal preseason see it, and the Buckeyes had exactly or regular season for Buckeye one completed Buckeye pass against football. Suspensions, firings, and Illinois, but won. Even Woody lost voluntary departures have come the prior game where the Bucks had on a regular basis. In recent years only one completion back in 1976. the Bucks have played some ugly The Bucks, despite everything, football on occasion, but that was have won more than they have lost to usually reserved for championship date, and I have found them extremely Bowl games. During the regular entertaining. I do not know what to season, they have dominated Big Ten expect from game to game or quarter and other opponents. It was just a to quarter. They are many things, matter of how big the spread and how but they have yet to be boring. GO graceful the victory. BuCKS. Things have changed. It was not I watched most of the contest when long after the tornado that Dorothy the Texas Rangers edged the Detroit realized she was no longer in Tigers by 10 runs to win the American Kansas, and it was not long into the League Championship in the final season for all of us to realize that the game. They were forced to take no-win positions and decisions, but now that they are out of office, they can travel the country and world on a great pension and act as true statesmen. They are now honored and given credit for the difficult job they did and can get great seats for any sporting event. One must wonder why President Obama is working so hard to get re-elected. I suppose the Texas Rangers will be easier for me to watch in the World Series than the Yankees or Red Sox, but I would have much preferred the Tigers, or the Indians, or the White Sox. The Rangers. I occasionally have to wonder if they are one of those new expansion teams that are in the National or American League.

Marion Local took a big step towards a Midwest Athletic Conference championship with a 7-0 win over Coldwater in Friday night football action. However, the Flyers still face another stern test Saturday night as Marion Local visits Stadium Park in Delphos to take on Delphos St. Johns in a crucial league battle. The Flyers currently sit in the drivers seat of the conference, standing at 6-0 in conference play and 7-1 overall. However, the Blue Jays and the Cavaliers are each 5-1 in the league so a Delphos St. Johns victory could mean a three-way tie at the top of the standings.

Flyers look to take control of MAc

After falling to Lima Shawnee in its opener, Marion Local has won seven straight games, scoring at least 26 points in every game except for this past Fridays against Coldwater. The Flyers also currently stand at the top of the playoff standings for Region 24, Division VI. Meanwhile, Delphos St. Johns is in an unusual position with a record of 5-3 overall but the Blue Jays are third in the Region 22, Division VI playoff point race. The three losses have come to teams with a combined record of 21-3 on the season. Delphos St. Johns has won four of its last five contests. See FLYERS, page 14

(Continued from Page 13) Coldwater (6-2 overall) looks to rebound this week as the Cavaliers host winless New Bremen on Friday. The Cavaliers are currently fourth in Division V, Region 20 but the orange and black does need some help to ensure a home game in round one of the playoffs. The Cardinals suffered a heartbreaking 41-40 overtime loss to Parkway last Friday and face a huge challenge the final two weeks of the regular season. New Bremen hosts Delphos St. Johns next Friday. The Cardinals have been limited to single digits in points five times on the season and have given up at least 27 each week of the season. Fort Recovery won three of its first four games but has since found things much more difficult. The Indians are coming off of a 35-14 loss to Delphos St. Johns but will host St. Henry this week in a battle for Mercer County pride. The Indians are currently 3-5 overall and 1-5 in the league while the Redskins come in 1-7 overall and 1-5 in the conference. Fort Recovery posted a 34-33 win over New Bremen in week four while St. Henry defeated Parkway 42-13 in week three. Speaking of the Panthers, the black and gold currently stand 3-5 overall and 2-4 in the league after the victory over New Bremen. Parkway hosts Minster on Friday, with the Wildcats trying to hold on to the eighth place spot in the Region 24 rankings. Minster enters the game at 5-3 overall and 3-3 in the conference. In the remaining league game, Versailles is still trying to lock in a playoff berth as well. The Tigers, who are 6-2 in all games and 4-2 in the MAC, are coming off of a key 21-20 victory over Minster. Versailles hosts Anna (5-3, 3-3) in a must win game if the Tigers want to play in week 11. Kenton and Wapakoneta continue to lead the Western Buckeye League after each picked up big wins on Friday. The Wildcats are now 8-0 overall and 7-0 in the league after a 70-33 victory over Celina. Kenton hosts Defiance (4-4, 3-4) in week nine while Celina (1-7, 1-6) welcomes in Elida (5-3, 4-3). Wapakoneta is also 8-0 and 7-0 following a 77-12 victory over Van Wert and the Redskins visit Lima Shawnee (4-4, 3-4) on Friday. The Cougars (0-8, 0-7) are at St. Marys (3-5, 2-5) this week. The other game in the WBL will have Lima Bath (4-4, 3-4) at Ottawa Glandorf (6-2, 5-2).
