Shechinah, My Sister in the Wind by G. Rayzel Raphael I feel supported by the universe From the Source of where all life begins, Floating through time and space that blankets me Gently carried by the wind. Shechinah! Heal my mind and body Shechinah, I call to you my friend, Use your powers of radiance Help my hurting heart to mend. Your presence in my life so subtly Sometimes I forget to let you in. The shelter of Your love protects me

Shechinah, my sister in the wind. Shechinah, my sister in the wind I trust Your love to make me whole. Your Ruach rustles in the wind Your wings cradling my soul. Shechinah, Shechinah, Shechinah, Shechinah, my sister in the wind You whisper in the wind You spiral in the wind my sister in the wind.

Proverbs Words of Wisdom (Hokmah) by Solomon, son of Bathsheba and David To know Wisdom and instruction; To comprehend the words of Understanding; To receive the instruction of Wisdom, justice, right, and equality; To give prudence to the simple; To the youth knowledge and discretion, That the wise person may hear, and increase in learning, And the person who understands achieve wise guidance; To understand a proverb, and a figure; The words of the wise and their sayings. - Proverbs 1: 2-6 Wisdom cries aloud in the street She speaks her full voice in the broad places;

She calls at the head of the noisy streets, at the entrances of the gates, in the city, she utters her words: "How long, you thoughtless ones, will you love thoughtlessness? And how long will scorners delight them in scorning? And fools hate knowledge? Turn you at my admonition; Behold I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make my words known to you. Because I have called, and you refused, I have stretched out my hand, and no one paid attention, You have disregarded all my counsel, And would not respond to my admonition; I also, in your calamity, will laugh, I will mock when you are afraid, When your fear comes like a storm, And your calamity comes like a whirlwind; When trouble and distress come upon you. Then they will call me, but I will not answer, They will seek me earnestly, but they shall not find me. For they hated knowledge, And did not choose to be in awe of the Divine; They disregarded my counsel, They despised all my admonition. Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, And be filled with their own devices. For the waywardness of the thoughtless shall dash them, And the confidence of fools shall destroy them. But whoever harkens to me shall dwell securely,

And shall be quiet without fear of evil." - Proverbs 1: 20-33 "Get wisdom, get understanding; Forget not, neither disregard the words of my mouth; Forsake her not, and she will preserve you; Love her, and she will protect you. The beginning of wisdom is: get wisdom; yes, with all thy getting get understanding. Extol her, and she will exalt you; She will bring you honor when you embrace her. She will give to your head a chaplet of grace; A crown of glory will she bestow on you." -Proverbs 4:4-9 Doth not Wisdom call, And Understanding put forth her voice? In the top of high places by the way, Where the paths meet, she stands; Beside the gates, at the entry of the city, when we come in the door, she cries aloud: "Unto you I call, and my voice is to your children. O you thoughtless, understand prudence, And you fools, be of an understanding heart. Hear, for I will speak excellent things, And the opening of my lips shall be right things. For my mouth shall utter truth, And wickedness is an abomination to my lips. All the words of my mouth are said in righteousness, There is nothing dishonest in them.

They are all plain to those who understand, and right to them that find knowledge. Receive my instruction, not silver, And knowledge rather than the best gold. For Wisdom is better than rubies, And all things desirable are not to be compared with her. . . .. Adonai was with me from his beginning before the most ancient works got underway, I was established from everlasting, from the beginning. Before ever the Earth was When there were no depths, I was brought forth; While as yet the earth had not been made, nor the fields, Nor the beginning of the dust of the world. When the heavens were established, I was there; When a circle was set upon the face of the deep, When the skies were made firm above, When the fountains of the deep showed their might, When it was decreed that the waters should not transgress the boundaries, When the foundations of the Earth were established; Then I crafted by his side, creating with him; And I, with him, delighted every day Rejoicing always with him, Delighting in the habitable Earth, And my delights are with all children. Now therefore, children, harken to me: For happy are they that keep my ways. Hear instruction and be wise,

And refuse it not. Happy are those who harken to me, Watching daily at my gates, Waiting at the posts of my doors. For whoever finds me finds life, And obtains favor with the Divine. But those who disregard me damage their souls; and they who hate me love death." - Proverbs 8: 1-11; 22-36 Wisdom has built her house, She has hewn out her seven pillars; She has prepared her meat, she has mingled her wine; She has sent forth her maidens, she calls, Upon the highest places of the city: "Whoever is thoughtless, let them go the other way"; As for those that lack understanding she says to them: "Come, eat of my bread, And drink of the wine I have mingled. Forsake all thoughtlessness, and live; And walk in the way of understanding." - Proverbs 9: 1-6 Second Kings And the king [Josiah] commanded Hilkiah the high priest, and the priests of the second order, and the keepers of the door, to bring forth out of the temple of The Lord all the vessels that were made for Baal, and for the Asherah, and for all the host of heaven; and he burned

them without Jerusalem in the fields of Kidron, and carried the ashes of them unto Beth-el. And he put down the idolatrous priests, whom the kings of Judah had ordained to offer in the high places in the cities of Judah, and in the places round about Jerusalem; them also that offered unto Baal, to the sun, and to the moon, and to the constellations, and to all the host of heaven. And he brought out the Asherah from the house of The Lord, without Jerusalem, unto the brook Kidron, and burned it at the brook Kidron, and stamped it small to powder, and cast the powder thereof upon the graves of the common people. And he broke down the houses of the sodomites, that were in the house of The Lord, where the women wove coverings for the Asherah . . . . And the altars that were on the roof of the upper chamber of Ahaz, which the kings of Judah had made, and the altars which Manasseh had made in the two courts of the house of The Lord, did the king break down, and beat them down from thence, and cast the dust of them into the brook Kidron. And the high places that were before Jerusalem, which were on the right hand of the mount of corruption, which Solomon the king of Israel had builded for Ashtoreth the detestation of the Zidonians, and for Chemosh the detestation of Moab, and for Milcom the abomination of the children of Ammon, did the king defile. And he broke in pieces the pillars, and cut down the Asherim, and filled their places with the bones of men.

Moreover the altar that was at Beth-el, and the high place which Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin, had made, even that altar and the high place he broke down; and he burned the high place and stamped it small to powder, and burned the Asherah.

Song/Chant: Kulanu May-Elilah translated/transliterated by Jane Litman from a song by Z. Budapest) Kulanu may-elilah v'nashuv elayah k'mo teepat geshem zoremet yama We all come from the Goddess and to Her we shall return like a drop of rain flowing to the ocean...
Snakeskin by Asphodel P. Long

I begin to shed the aged mottled skin It was a good skin in its day Thick brown scales enclosing me Sheltering me from the pierce of stones, sheltering me From voices, and from hearing Those who called me. Who called in anger Who called in love But today at this new moon As the dark of the sky shadows our earth In the deep shade and the thick cloud At this new moon in autumn I push out of my skin I move through its tunnel I move on the earth Hearing voices, voices of anger Voices of love. I am a snake I am a creature in her commonality I move into my unprotection The stones do not scrape me I feel the warmth of earth and sun A fresh breeze murmurs over me Is it the wind of renewal, the breath of rebirth?

I stretch out into a new way I praise. Praises be.

Song: For Our Great Mother Lives (Melody: Yigdal) by Judith Laura For our Great Mother lives Sing praises to Her name Who was and is forever changing and the same. In her we can be whole. In her we can be free. She was and is and shall forever blessed be.

You are the first and the last, Creator, Mother of All, with us through all generations; You guide us with compassion and loving kindness. She who neither slumbers nor sleeps wakes those who sleep, gives speech to the speechless, frees the enslaved, keeps the unsure from falling, and straightens the crooked. To Her we give thanks. To She Who Treads on the Sea - - Asherah dorechah haYam - - we would sing the wondrous song of the sea, our tongues rippling with joy like the waves, our lips open wide as the sky, our eyes bright as the sun and moon, our arms and hands spread like eagles' wings, our legs swift as gazelles. Yet still would we praise you more, our Goddess and Goddess of our ancestors, for all you have done for us and for our ancestors, and for bringing us close, and staying with us. You have been with us through slavery, Goddess of Freedom. You have helped us overcome oppression in many lands and continue to help us be free. So let us help our sisters and brothers overcome oppression and achieve freedom. Mother of All, as you have fed us, may we feed the hungry. As you have made our lives plentiful, may we sustain abundance for all. As you have protected us from war and disease, may we protect the Earth and

II. Prayers, Shema & Blessings Nishmat kol chay teverech at sh'mech Nishmat ha'Olam Every living soul will bless your name, Soul of the Universe. And the souls of all living will praise and exalt and always remember the Mother of All Living, in whom we all are exalted. For ever and ever you are our Goddess who sees us, helps us, and sustains us in times of trouble and who brings us success.

act for peace and good health for all. Your mercy continues and your kindness is with us always. Great Goddess, be with us forever. We and all creation grew in your womb; from you are we born. With our limbs, tongues, mouths, and entire bodies, and with our spirits and souls, we thank, bless, praise, exalt, worship, and make holy your name, and in you are we blessed, exalted and made holy. And we will sing with you forever and ever. Of She who is eternal and holy it is written: "Happy are they who find Wisdom and Understanding. For gains from Wisdom are worth more than gains from silver and gold. She is more precious than rubies. Length of days is in her right hand, and riches and honor in her left hand. Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. She is a Tree of Life to those who grasp her, and happy are those who keep her." (Proverbs 3:18) All righteous people honor Her and those who bless Her are blessed and made holy. As we gather, it is our joy to glorify Her name, our Mother and Mother of all generations, and to praise, honor, adorn, bless, and exalt She who is our Goddess and in whom we are honored, blessed, and exalted. Along with Solomon, son of Bathsheba and David, may we sing praises to Wisdom and to all her Holy Names

forever. You are great and holy in heaven and Earth, our Goddess, and Goddess of our ancestors; let us praise you, sing to you, and glorify you. We bless you and thank you now and for eternity. Mother of All, Great Goddess of Gratitude, whose wonders are unending, whose love is manifest in singing and who loves the music of our songs, Great Goddess, Creator of all worlds, may you be with us, and us with you, now and always.

Song: How Lovely It is (Melody: Hine Ma Tov-Round) adapted by Judith Laura [Some groups may also sing the traditional Hebrew] How lovely it is when all people speak of Her peace and freedom (2x) How lovely it is when we all meet together. (2x)
Half Kaddish [We follow tradition here and say this in the traditional Aramaic:] Yitgadal veyitkadash shemeh rabah - - (Amen.) be'almah di verah chir'uteh veyamlich malchuteh, bechayechon uv yomechon uvechayey dechol bet yisroel ba'agalah uvizman kariv. Yibarach veyishtabach veyitpa'ar veyitromam veyitnaseh veyit'hadar veyit'aleh veyhit'halal shemeh dekedushah, berich hu. Le elah min kol birchatah veshiratah tushbechatah da'amiran be'almah. Ve'imru: "Amen." Call To Prayer Barechu et Asherah hamevorechet. Let us bless She who is the blessed one.

The Goddess creates continually in overflowing love. She opens dawn's gates and parts the curtains of the sky. As the sun, She rises from her couch and as the moon from her bed. She is the light of the world and of all creation. She who with love lights the Earth and we who live here, is our Great Mother who renews creation each day forever. Since ancient times has She been with us, whole and holy. Eternal Goddess who gave birth to the Universe, may we always share in your abundant love. Be the source of our strength and the rock of our refuge; protect and shelter us. You flow through all and you encompass all. Be with us while we are on this Earth, and may we be with you in the World to come. You are All, and all exist in you. You are with us in life, guide us through death, and stay with us in all lives to come.

First Blessing Before Shema Beruchah Asherah hamevorechet le'olam va'ed Bless She who is blessed forever and ever. Blessed be She who is Goddess of the Universe, who gives birth to all, who creates light and dark, and with whom we create peace. All creation will thank you, praise you, and say: Ein kedoshah kaKedoshah None is as holy as Goddess. All creation will exalt you, Selah, Creator of All, in whom we are exalted.

Song: Mother of All by Judith Laura (Melody: "Adon Olam") (1) Mother of All O Womb Divine Whose spiral spins Through all of time Be with us now and never part Forever dwell here in my heart.

(2) She is the Source, the mystery deep, inspiring song, protecting sleep. From Her we come to Her return. None greater is than She who lives. (repeat 1st verse)

We Bless the Holy One We bless the Holy One, our rock and strength, Mother who birthed the holy ones. We bless Asherah, of whom it was written in ancient days: She birthed 70 sons.
May your name be praised forever, our Mother, who gives birth to life forms in all worlds including us here and those with you in the spirit world. With those who attend her in the spirit world, and with those in all realms of the universe, we declare aloud in awe the words of the Living Divine. She loves all creation and all created are pure, empowered, and attend her in awe. In holiness and purity, they honor and adore her with songs and chants of blessings and praise. The name of the Goddess is great and awesome - - for her name is Holy. With serenity, clarity, and holy song, all creation declares the Mother of All is holy, and we declare in awe: Kedoshah, kedoshah, kedoshah, haKedoshah melo kol ha'eretz Shekhinah. Holy, holy, holy is the Holy One. The whole earth is filled with Her glory. And the holy beings in all realms give praise, saying: Beruchah gedulat Asherah Shekhinah

Goddess Who Gives Birth Our Great Mother gives birth to all that is, has been, and shall be, for She is all creation. In her great double spiral She spins all life.
And as She rested on the bank of the great river, all the stars of the Universe shimmered in her hair. Between her thighs ebbed and flowed all the waters of Earth. In Her right hand She held the Sun and in her left, the Moon. And when She touched the Moon to her breast, Earth's sister planets flowed from them, as did all in the Milky Way. From Her double spiral all that lives evolved, from forms of a single cell to those of many cells; from that which grows in the earth or swims in the ocean to that which walks on the earth or flies in the sky. And she has placed within each living thing Her double spiral of life, that all might know that She is the Source of all life.

Blessed is the grandeur of She who flows through all. They bring music to the blessed Goddess, to the living, abiding, enduring Goddess. Their songs praise her, for in Her we accomplish great things, create new ideas and inventions, heal the sick, prevail in righteousness, and show the way to peace. It is She who brings miracles through us, and renews her creation each day. As the Psalm says, "To the one who makes great lights, whose great kindness lasts forever." With our Goddess, may we make new light. Beruchah at Asherah yoledet ham'orot. Blessed is She who gives birth to the lights. Second Blessing Great is your love for us, Great Goddess, you have shown us the greatest compassion. Our Mother, our Creator, in memory of our ancestors who trusted you and whom you taught about life, we trust in your kindness and teachings. Loving Mother, in your kindness may our hearts grasp, understand, observe, listen, and learn, and may we teach, perform, and fulfill every word of your teachings with love. [Optional: Shema Yisroel: Adonai Eloheynu, Adonai Echud. Hear O Israel: The Lord our God, The Lord is One]

Shema Yisroel: Asherah Elohataynu, Asherah Shlemah Harken descendants of ancient tribes: She is Our Goddess, She is whole. Beruchah Avodah; gedulat havayatah le'olam va'ed. Blessed is the Work; the grandeur of her being is eternal. You shall love the Divine with all your heart, all your soul, and all your might. And the knowledge given to you this day shall be in your heart. And you shall teach it to your children, and you shall speak of these teachings when you sit in your house, when you walk outside, when you lie down and when you arise. You shall declare these teachings openly and display the signs and symbols of the Divine for all to see. We love our Goddess as she loves us. Like a mother, she has nurtured the earth and sent rain at the right time and warmth of the sun so the crops might grow. She has ensured a plentiful harvest so that we have enough to eat and drink. In gratitude we accept our obligation to protect the Earth so that it may continue to flower and bear fruit; so that the rain will remain a pure nourishment, the sun will shine in a way that nurtures not harms, and the air will be pure to our breath and will sustain us. We will protect the portion of Earth we live on, and we will strive to protect the entire Earth, so that our children may inherit a world filled with the milk and

honey that flows from the Mother of Earth. And we will teach these things to our children, that our days may be many upon the Earth, and our children's days may be many, and the bounty of our Mother may flow to us and through us forever. It is written that in ancient times, Moses told our ancestors to make fringes on their garments and to place a blue thread on the corner fringe to remind them to follow the Law not only by thought and prayer, but also by actions. So we are reminded today that we are obliged to act for justice and freedom. As She who is our Goddess feeds, shelters, and protects us, so shall we feed those who are hungry, house those who need shelter, protect those who are persecuted, free the oppressed, heal the sick, strengthen the weak, support the frail, and bring peace to the world. By these actions, does our holiness increase and are we drawn closer to the Holy One. After Shema May these teachings always be with us. They are beloved, admired, pleasant, sweet, noble, and good. May we always meet in perfect harmony. The Eternal is our Mother; she protects us. She endures and her name endures. She shall be with us for ever and ever.

And the knowledge of the Goddess lives and endures forever and ever. As She was with our ancestors, so she is with us and with our children and our children's children. From all generations to this generation to all generations that shall be, Asherah haElah -- Elataynu, Elat imotaynu - Elataynu; Eim imotaynu - - Imenu; Haganat imotaynu - - Haganataynu. She is Goddess-- our Goddess, Goddess of our ancestors - - our Goddess; Mother of our ancestors - - our Mother; protector of our ancestors - - our protector. You are our creator and the rock of our rescue who cares for us and saves us: You are eternal and your name is eternal.

Sarah. Elat Revka. Elat Rachel v'Leah, v'Elat kol imotaynu. Blessed is She who is our Goddess and Goddess of our ancestors. Goddess of Sarah, Rebeccah, Rachel and Leah, and all our mothers. Goddess who is full of wonders, we approach you with wonder, awe, and joy. When we are good, you are good; when we are kind, you are kind; for all of creation flows from you and through you. You remember the good deeds of our mothers and fathers and you bring a time of great joy and reunion when all people again openly utter your name. Elah, eim, breeah, haganah; Beruchah at Asherah, haganat Sarah. Goddess, Mother, creator, protector. Blessed is Asherah, Protector of Sarah. 2. Strength Asherah chazakah le'olam ve'hi mekor kochaynu. She who is eternally strong is the source of our strength. She continually brings forth new life, even from that which seems dead. [from Shemini Atzeret to Pesach, add:] You are the wind and the rain. 1. Ancestors Beruchah at Asherah Elataynu ve elat imotaynu. Elat [at all times, continue:]

III. Morning Amidah & Personal Prayers [Traditionally there are different parts for leader and for congregation. Here, we will leave who says what up to each individual group.] May the Divine open my lips, so that I may speak praise.

In your graciousness, you feed the living and revive the dead, support the frail, heal the sick, and free the oppressed. We trust in you, and you help us arise from the dust. You flow through us, source of strength. You are with us in life and in death and you will bring us new life like the flowering of spring. Beruchah at Elah, Eim ha'Olam, mechayah hameitim. Blessed is Goddess, the Eternal Mother, who brings life to the dead. 3. Holiness You are holy, your name is Holy and the holy ones continually praise you, Selah. Blessed are you, the Holy Goddess. We declare your name holy in this world, as it is in all worlds, as we say together: Kedoshah, kedoshah, kedoshah, haKedoshah melo kol ha'eretz Shekhinah. Holy, holy, holy is the Holy One. The whole earth is filled with Her glory. In a great loud voice, awesome and strong, they stand to face the holy ones who face them and say: Beruchah at Shekhinah ha'Kedoshah, zoremet elolam me'eim hakol. Blessed is the Holy Presence flowing into the universe

from the Mother of All. Goddess, be with us here now. Thank you for returning to us and being with us in our lifetime. We proclaim your presence and your holiness to all for eternity and welcome your return to Zion by saying, Hallelujah. We shall always speak of you and your name shall never leave our lips: Elah, Asherah, Shekhinah, Kedoshah, le'olam hazeh le'olam haba le'olam va'ed. Goddess, Asherah, Indwelling Presence, Holy One, in this world and the world to come forever. Beruchah at Asherah ha'elah ha'kedoshah. Blessed is Asherah, the Holy Goddess. 4. This Day On this day, regardless of our worldly status in our daily work, we stand as equals before our Goddess. We set aside the striving, the burdens, the competition of our weekday life and turn our hearts and minds to the indwelling presence of the Divine. We have felt alone, though She has been in our hearts. But today in joy and trust we gather to speak Her name together as her name was spoken by our ancestors. There was a time when she was disguised, hidden, and in this secrecy there were some who forgot her Name. But today we remember Her as she remembers us. As

we set aside our masks and the veils of everyday life, we stand before the Divine without pretense, so do we remove the veil of her disguise and declare her Holy Name openly, in faith and in joy. Our Goddess and Goddess of our ancestors, care for us as we rest from care. Make us holy in your teachings, and help us teach others of you. Your bounty fills us and we rejoice in your blessings. Purify our hearts so that we may bring honor to you. Thank you for the love we find in you, and thank you for helping us come together on this day. Let us rest now from our daily labor as we say: Beruchah at Kedoshah mekadeshet haShabbat. Blessed is Holy One, who hallows the Sabbath. 5. Temple Restoration May She who is Our Goddess rejoice as we, her children, restore her to the Temple Service. In the Temple built by Solomon, our people honored Her, when the Temple was rebuilt, She was given a place. When the Temple was destroyed she was exiled with us, our Shekhinah. Shekhinah, Asherah, Kedoshah, Elah, we restore you in our prayers and in our sanctuary, and we ask that you remain here enshrined, as you remain enshrined in our hearts forever.

[on the new moon (Rosh Hodesh) add:] Goddess and Goddess of our ancestors, may our thoughts and words reach you, and may you look with favor upon us and upon the memories of our ancestors. As this month begins, we trust in you to help us when we are troubled, encourage us when we lack strength, crown us with achievement, and bless us with love and peace. [at all times say:] May we continue to witness your joyful return to Zion. Beruchah at Elah, Eim hakol, Asherah, hamachazirah shekinatah le'tziyon. Blessed are you, Goddess, Great Mother, Asherah, as you return your presence to Zion. 6. Thanksgiving We thank you for being here with us, Goddess and Goddess of our ancestors. And we give thanks to our ancestors-- to Sarah who was your priestess, to Rachel and Dinah who sheltered you, to Solomon and his family who kept the you in the Temple, and to all our ancestors who sought to preserve you and to our parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents who honored you as Shekhinah and by other names. Great Goddess, you are with us forever, our strength and our protection

from aeon to aeon. We thank you for our lives which dwell in your life, for our souls which dwell in your soul, and for your wonders which we experience daily and which are with us morning, noon and night. Your love never ends, your kindness never ceases. In love and trust, we rest with you forever. [Several moments for silent prayers of thanks from your heart. We then pray aloud:] For all these things may your name be blessed and exalted always and forever. Beruchah at Elat Todah, meviah tovah lechayim velach naeh lehodot. Blessed are you, Goddess of Gratitude, whose brings good into our lives and to whom we give thanks. Our Goddess and Goddess of our ancestors, with these words we invoke your triple blessing: May Goddess bless you and protect you. May her face shine upon you and grant you grace. May her presence flow through you and bring you peace. 7. Peace May all people enjoy peace, goodness, and blessing, mercy, equality and freedom.

Barchinu Imenu kulanu ka'achat be'or Shekhinah. Bless us, Mother of All, as one in the light of your indwelling presence. For in the light of your indwelling presence you gave us the teachings of life and the love of mercy, charity, righteousness, with blessings of freedom and peace. May all people be blessed at all times with your peace. Beruchah at Elat haShalom, hamevorekhet kol chai bashalom Blessed are you, Goddess of Peace, who blesses us with peace. Torah Service [In Goddess congregations in addition to the Torah scrolls, the Ark also contains either a symbol or a physical representation of Asherah, such as a pole, a tree branch (preferably female date palm), a representation of female date palm, or an Asherah statue. Whichever of these is used, before placing it in the Ark, it should be ritually purified and dedicated. Because there is ample evidence that the Torah scroll replaced the Goddess figure in the shrine-like ark, we are restoring Her to her appropriate place. Like the

ancient Goddess representations, the Torah is crowned and robed in ritual splendor, paraded and venerated. It is therefore suggested that if a pole is used, it be decorated, and if a Goddess statue is used, that it be robed and crowned similarly to the Torah scrolls. Real trees and tree branches need no decoration. As with the Torah scroll, where veneration is not worship of the Torah itself, but rather giving honor to our people's law and history, so with the Asherah, we are not worshiping the statue itself but venerating what it represents. Our Torah service begins with saying:] The Divine is in all creation and all created exists in the Divine. Goddess flows through all creation, from the smallest particle to the largest galaxy; from the single cell to the individual plant, animal, and human. She interweaves all created, all created interweave with her, and She is the interweaving of creation. She is with each of us and all of us. She has been with us from the beginning, in every age; She is with is now and will be with us in all eons to come. Asherah has been our Goddess, is our Goddess, and will be our Goddess. Asherah is with us eternally. Asherah holds us close and gives us strength. Asherah blesses us with peace. In ancient times, She was robed in splendor and sheltered in a shrine. So today she reclaims her place in the Ark. For She is Torah, just as the law and the

stories of our people are Torah. Our Mother Sarah was her priestess. Our mothers Rachel and Leah, and their daughter, Dinah, protected her. Solomon worshiped her in the Temple and called her Wisdom. In our exile, she remained with us as Shekhinah. Our grandmothers and greatgrandmothers whispered her name in Yiddish and Ladino. She has also been called the Tree of Life, and as the Tree, the menorah is her symbol. Mother of All Living, whose compassion knows no end, may your return to Zion heal our wounds, restore us, and bring balance to all creation. We place our faith in you, Great Goddess, who flows through all worlds. [Ark is opened] And on the day that the tabernacle was reared up the cloud covered the tabernacle; even the tent of testimony; and at evening it appeared as if fire was upon the tabernacle, until morning. (Numbers 9:15) And they shall beat their swords into ploughshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore. (Isaiah 2: 4) And now we understand that the cloud of the Tabernacle was the Shekhinah, the holy presence of the Divine, who dwelled with our ancestors in the desert and showed them the way to safety. May She

dwell with us always, keeping us safe and leading us to peace. May the Divine Presence open our eyes to see truth, open our ears to hear all that is said, open our minds to Wisdom, and open our hearts to love. May we find the sacred in the teachings of our ancestors and reveal what we find therein without fear. May the truth make us free and whole. [The Torah Scroll and the Asherah are taken from the Ark] [Optional: Shema Yisrael Adonai Eloheinu Adonai Echad Hear O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is One.] Shema Yisrael: Asherah Elataynu, Asherah Shlemah. Harken descendants of ancient tribes. She is Our Goddess, She is whole. Shlemah Elataynu, gedulah Asherataynu, kedoshah shemah. Our Goddess is whole, She is great, Her name is holy. [Facing the ark, Torah scroll and Asherah are raised as the following is said:] Together, let us glorify and exalt the Divine [Those holding scroll and Asherah face congregation. All sing Ashrey Asherah. The first section of the song

is sung while still on the bimah, the middle section repeats as as we proceed through the congregation, the last section is sung as the scroll and Asherah return to the bimah. [Before the scroll is placed on the reading desk, the following is said:] May the Source of mercy be merciful to us and be with us, as She was with our ancestors. May she sustain us in times of trouble, and help us to work for the greatest good for all. May She help us to replace prejudice with understanding, persecution with justice, and hatred with love. As she is merciful to us, may we show others mercy; as she sustains us, may we help others to endure. May we be interwoven with Her and with each other forever. [Torah scroll is placed on reading desk. Asherah is placed either on same desk or on another table nearby. Torah scroll and Asherah are "undressed" and "dressed" at the same time.] May all who seek refuge be protected and sheltered. As we declare it, so be it. We proclaim the greatness of the Divine and we affirm that Shekhinah fills these teachings. [Person's name] is called to read.

Beruchah shenatnah Torah l'amah Yisrael bikidushatah. Blessed is the Source, who gives Torah to our people in holiness. [Traditionally, 7 people are called for "aliyah," that is, to stand and on bimah and observe the reading.] We are blessed to have lived to this day. Torah/Asherah Blessings [All on the bimah recite the following:] [before touching the Asherah:] Baruchu et Asherah hamevorechet Blessed is Asherah, the blessed one. [before touching the Torah]: Baruchu et Adonai hamvorach Blessed is Adonai, the blessed one. [the next two blessings remain in the masculine and are recited in Hebrew only] Baruch ata Adonai Eloheinu melech ha'olam asher bachar banu mikol ha'amim venatan lanu et Torato. Baruch ata Adonai noten haTorah. [The Torah portion is read]

Baruch ata Adonai Eloheinu melech ha'olam, asher natan lanu Torat emet vechayay olam nata betocheinu. Baruch ata Adonai noten haTorah. [Four persons are called to the bimah. Two will raised the Torah and the Asherah and the others will dress them] [The Asherah is raised:] This is the Asherah whom our ancestors worshiped, who was banished by those who feared women, who survived as Wisdom and Shekhinah. [The scroll is raised:] This is the Torah that Moses received in the cloud of the Shekhinah and gave to the children of Israel. And so it continued: the cloud covered it, and the appearance by fire at night (Numbers 9:16) [The Torah scroll and Asherah are "dressed." The Ark remains open, and the Torah and Asherah are held by persons seated during the Haftarah that follows. Before proceeding with the Haftarah, the leader asks for announcements of deaths, marriages, births and requests for prayers for healing. Prayers and blessings are said according to what is needed and the group's custom.] Blessed are you, the Divine, who is eternal. We give thanks for the prophets, women and men, whose words

you inspire. They speak truth, even in the face of oppression. They bring your teachings into the world. [Haftarah is read. Some groups may substitute or add after the Biblical prophets, readings from recent writings about the portrayal of women and/or the female divine in the Scriptures which serve as contemporary prophecy.] Blessed are you, the Divine, who is eternal. You flow through all worlds and speak through those who seek you in every age. Goddess of Faith, who helps us replace fear with faith, you come when we call, you fulfill what we speak, all your words are true and just. Faithful are you, Asherah, our Goddess, and every word you speak through us is fulfilled, for you are our Mother, faithful and merciful, Asherah, Our Goddess, whose every word is true. We thank you, Goddess, for returning to us through the dreams and words of prophets in our own time. You bring with you the promise of balance and reunion. As has been promised: the female and male aspects of the divine shall be reunited in perfection and harmony, and the age of bliss and perfection shall be born. Beruchah at Asherah haganat Sarah. Beruch ata Adonai, magein David Blessed is Asherah, Protector of Sarah. Blessed is Adonai, Shield of David.

We thank and bless the Divine for Torah, for this service, for the prophets, and for this day of rest. Beruchah at Kedoshah mekadeshet haShabbat. Blessed is Holy One, who hallows the Sabbath. Prayer for Scholars and Community Supporters May those who teach and support us on Earth be blessed on Earth with good health, long life, plentiful food and shelter, abundant gifts, radiant vision, and lively and honest descendants who carry on with distinction what they have begun. And may our supporters and teachers be blessed in all worlds with grace, loving kindness, honor and mercy. May the Mother of All bless you, fill your lives with the joy of learning and the joy of loving, enable you to live long enough to accomplish your goals, grant you long and healthy life, protect you and rescue you from all peril and disease. May the Goddess be your guide and protector at every time and every season. As we declare it, so be it. Prayer for the Congregation May She who blessed our mothers, Sarah, Rebecca, Rachel and Leah, and our fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, bless this holy congregation and all holy congregations. May we receive this blessing and may it extend to our children and all that is theirs. May this

blessing be to all who dedicate this sanctuary and to those who enter this sanctuary to pray, and to all those who donate material goods and non-material gifts, and who give charity to the poor, and to all those who work for the needs of the community. May the Holy One bless them and reward them with success and remove from them all disease, and grant them peace. As we declare it, so be it. [On the Saturday before the new moon (Shabbat before Rosh Hodesh), those holding the Asherah and the Torah stand and face the congregation and the following is said: May She Who is Our Goddess renew us for the coming month for goodness and blessing. Grant us a long life, a healthy life, a life of peace, a life of freedom, a life of equality, a life of abundance, a life of blessing, a life of goodness, a life of grace, a life of honor, a life of fulfillment, a life of love of learning, a life of love of the divine, and a life of love of one another. As we declare it, so be it. The new moon, the month of _____, is on (date) and may it come to us and all people for good! May the Holy One bring us renewal with the new month and may it be a time of life and peaceso be it of joy and happinessso be itof safety and comfortso be it. As we declare it, so be it.]

[At all times, we continue as we begin to return the Torah and Asherah to the Ark.] [We rise as, also rising, the person holding the Torah scroll holds it in the right arm and the person holding the Asherah holds it in the left hand or arm.] Hallelujah. Let us hail the Holy Name and exalt the Divine, in which we are exalted. [Those carrying the scroll and the Asherah begin going toward the ark as we say:] The glory of the Goddess flows through earth and sky, and we sense the Divine Presence in all that is. She will always be with us, and us with her. Hallelujah. [The major key verse of Ashrey Asherah is sung as Torah and Asherah are returned to the Ark.] And whenever the cloud was taken up from over the Tent, then after that the children of Israel journeyed: and in the place where the cloud abode, there the children of Israel encamped. (Numbers 9:17) She is a Tree of Life to whose who grasp her, and happy are those who keep her. Her ways are ways of pleasantness and all Her paths are peace. (Proverbs 3: 17 &16)

Blessed is She who is our Goddess and Goddess of our ancestors. Goddess of Sarah, Rebeccah, Rachel and Leah, and all our mothers. [Goddess who is full of wonders, we approach you with wonder, awe, and joy. When we are good, you are good; when we are kind, you are kind; for all of creation flows from you and through you. You remember the good deeds of our mothers and fathers and you bring a time of great joy and reunion when all people again openly utter your name.] Elah, eim, breeah, haganah; Beruchah at Asherah, haganat Sarah. Goddess, Mother, creator, protector. Blessed is Asherah, Protector of Sarah. 2. Strength Asherah chazakah le'olam ve'hi mekor kochaynu She who is eternally strong is the source of our strength. She continually brings forth new life, even from that which seems dead.

V. Musaf Amidah & Personal Prayers [Some of this portion repeats the morning Amidah and some groups may wish to read these sections silently. They are bracketed in italics. We begin with a short

[from Shemini Atzeret to Pesach, add:] You are the wind and the rain. [at all times, continue:] [In your graciousness, you feed the living and revive the dead, support the frail, heal the sick, and free the oppressed. We trust in you, and you help us arise from the dust. You flow through us, source of strength. You are with us in life and in death and you will bring us new life like the flowering of spring.] Beruchah at Elah, Eim ha'Olam, mechayah hameitim. Blessed is Goddess, the Eternal Mother, who brings life to the dead. 3. Holiness You are holy, your name is Holy and the holy ones continually praise you, Selah. Blessed are you, the Holy Goddess. We respect and declare your holiness as in the secret speech of the angels who declare your holiness. And with all spiritual beings, we call to each other and say: Kedoshah, kedoshah, kedoshah, ha'Kedoshah melo kol ha'eretz Shekhinah. Holy, holy, holy is the Holy One. The whole earth is filled with Her glory.

Her glory fills the Universe and each of us asks: "Where is the source of Divine Presence?" And we answer, "Blessed." Beruchah at Shekhinah ha'Kedoshah, zoremet elolam me'eim hakol. Blessed is the Holy Presence flowing into the universe from the Mother of All. May the Divine be merciful and gracious to us as we say: [Optional: Shema Yisrael Adonai Eloheinu Adonai Echad Hear O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is One.] Shema Yisrael: Asherah Elataynu, Asherah Shlemah. Harken descendants of ancient tribes. She is Our Goddess, She is whole. She is our Goddess, source of life, our Mother, our protector, who is once again with us for all the world to see, divinity. "I am Asherah, your Goddess." We welcome your return to Zion by saying, Hallelujah. In every age we declare your greatness and holiness. We shall always speak of you and your name shall never

leave our lips: Beruchah at Asherah ha'elah ha'Kedoshah Blessed is Asherah, the Holy Goddess. 4. This Day and Sacrifice In ancient times our ancestors believed that they were required to sacrifice animals to the Divine. On the Sabbath two lambs were ritually slaughtered in the Temple. Our people no longer sacrifice any living thing, nor does Goddess require it. Mother of All Living asks us to protect the Earth and all born into this Earthly realm and to be mindful of those given unto our protection: our children, animals that live with us, and all others whose lives are entrusted to us. Our ancestors also poured libations of wine to the divine as part of the sacrifice. Today from this wine [hold up goblet or glass with wine] we pour a libation to symbolize the blood of our mothers who gave us birth and to honor the Mother of All through whom all life flows and is born. [pour libation]. And we bless and name in our hearts those who have sacrificed for us: our elders who set aside their wants so that we might thrive; our teachers for all they gave and continue to give so that we and our children might learn;

our co-workers who encourage us so that we might succeed; our relatives who nurture us so that we may remain close; our friends who show us kindness so that we may love and be loved. For all these and other sacrifices, not required but freely given, we give thanks. And we acknowledge that we are called upon to remember our elders, care for the sick, comfort the bereaved, strengthen the weak, give charity to those who are in need, and accept help when we are in need.

[Our Goddess and Goddess of our ancestors, care for us as we rest from care. Make us holy in your teachings, and help us teach others of you. Your bounty fills us and we rejoice in your blessings. Purify our hearts so that we may bring honor to you. Thank you for the love we find in you, and thank you for helping us come together on this day.]
We thank you for the Sabbath as we say: Beruchah at Kedoshah mekadeshet haShabbat. Blessed is Holy One, who hallows the Sabbath. 5. Temple Restoration [May She who is Our Goddess rejoice as we, her children, restore her to the Temple Service. In the

Temple built by Solomon, our people honored Her, when the Temple was rebuilt, She was given a place. When the Temple was destroyed she was exiled with us, our Shekhinah. Shekhinah, Asherah, Kedoshah, Elah, we restore you in our prayers and in our sanctuary, and we ask that you remain here enshrined, as you remain enshrined in our hearts forever. {on the new moon (Rosh Chodesh) add:} Goddess and Goddess of our ancestors, may our thoughts and words reach you, and may you look with favor upon us and upon the memories of our ancestors. As this month begins, we trust in you to help us when we are troubled, encourage us when we lack strength, crown us with achievement, and bless us with love and peace. {at all times say:} May we continue to witness your joyful return to Zion.]
Beruchah at Elah, Eim hakol, Asherah, hamachazirah shekinatah le'tziyon. Blessed are you, Goddess, Great Mother, Asherah, as you return your presence to Zion. 6. Thanksgiving for Teachers

Goddess of Gratitude, we give thanks for the teachers who looked deep with the Earth and found you there. We give thanks for the teachers who looked deep within our history and found you there. We give thanks for the teachers who looked deep within our writings and found you there. We give thanks for the teachers who look deep within their hearts and found you there. We are thankful for the gifts our teachers have given us: gifts of their time, of their careers, gifts of their money and of other material things, and for all sacrifices our teachers made to bring you, Our Goddess, back to us. We are grateful for the teachers who live with us now and we are grateful for those who now rest in your arms and who will live forever in our hearts. We name them silently now, and declare that their names are and shall forever be blessed. [short pause while we silently name them.] For all these things may your name be blessed and exalted always and forever. Beruchah at Elat Todah, meviah tovah le'chayim velach naeh lehodot. Blessed are you, Goddess of Gratitude, whose brings good into our lives and to whom we give thanks. Our Goddess and Goddess of our ancestors, with these words we invoke your triple blessing:

May Goddess bless you and protect you. May her face shine upon you and grant you grace. May her presence flow through you and bring you peace. 7. Peace May all people enjoy peace, goodness, and blessing, mercy, equality and freedom. Barchinu Imenu lakolah ka'achat be'or Shekhinah. PERSONAL PRAYERS Todah Elah, Asherah, Eim Olam Thank you for keeping me alive to this day. When I was a child, the Divine was always called, "he." When I was a teen, they told me menstruating women couldn't set foot on the bimah.

When I was a young woman, they told me I couldn't be counted in a minyan for prayers after my mother died. When I began singing songs to you, Goddess, women couldn't be ordained as rabbis or cantors. But now we call you Divine and in most places our praying is counted. Now we stand on the bimah and we honor our bleeding as sacred. Now with glad hearts we sing to you Goddess, Asherah, Eternal Mother, in the language of our ancestors. Elah, Asherah, Eim Olam Thank you for keeping us alive to this day. Villanelle for Women Travellers by Asphodel P. Long Dear women who have made the pilgrimage To far off lands to seek Her mystery And teach yourselves your own sweet heritage, And meet Her, new found, with Her your life engage In temples, caves, and ancient masonry Dear women who have made the pilgrimage Who seek to understand the old language Wiped from our souls with such ferocity But never lost , and now bright upon the page As banners fly with Her immense image On hill and tower, they shake triumphantlyDear women who have made the pilgrimage Dance sing and shout for joy, regain the stage For women everywhere in slavery

Help them find Her in all their righteous rage. Bless all who work to build the Goddess Age Who mark the path of our own life's journey, Dear women who have made the pilgrimage To far off lands to seek Her mystery.

As it is written in our teachings may it be this day in your heart: Goddess is the Divine in all spiritual realms and in the Earth. She is all that is, there is nothing outside the Divine. We hope to soon see the reunion of the Divine, and we trust that the time will come soon, when all aspects of Holy are united. For you, Goddess, restore the balance to hasten this time. And may the day come soon, when all are reunited in perfection and harmony, as the age of bliss and perfection is born. Then shall all on Earth give homage to you and speak of you. For you shall be with us forever and ever. And we trust that it will be as we have received it:
