Transmitter
1. Remove the rear housing, and connect AC power through the 3/4-inch conduit opening to the line terminals. (Check the nameplate on top of the transmitter for correct line voltage.) Apply power. (The indicator at the side of the transmitter will light when the invisible infrared beam is being emitted.) Replace rear housing. If more precise alignment is required, remove the back cover from the controls housing. Connect AC voltmeter clip leads to the ear jack terminals inside the housing. Correct polarity is not required. Set the voltmeter to the 15 volt scale. As the receiver is moved into alignment with the edges of the effective beam (see gure below), a higher voltage level will be noted on the voltmeter. Centering the receiver both horizontally and vertically, midway between the highest readings, gives the maximum strength signal at the receiver. Remove earphone jacks. Apply PST type or equivalent pipe sealant to earphone plug. Install earphone plug and tighten to 20 in/lb. torque. Reinstall rear housing cover.

1. 2. 3. 4. Remove the rear housing. The relay and logic card (if used) should also be removed. Place the receiver in its intended location opposite the transmitter. Connect the load to the proper terminals. Connect AC power to the line terminals. (Check the nameplate on top of the receiver for correct line voltage.) Plug the relay in. Set the mode selector switch to the UP, light operate (L.O.) position. Turn the sensitivity adjustment fully clockwise (maximum sensitivity). Apply power.

10. Tighten the mounting bolts on both transmitter and receiver. 11. Block the beam with the object to be detected. (When the beam is blocked, the receiver indicator will be OFF.) 12. To energize the relay when the beam is blocked dark operation (D.O.) set the selector switch to the DOWN position. If you are using a plug-in logic circuit card: 13. Be sure the selector switch is in the DOWN, dark operate, position. 14. Insert logic card. The sensitivity adjustment on the card MUST be fully clockwise. 15. Select light or dark operation with the selector switch on the card. Dark to operate relay - OUT position Light to operate relay - IN position 16. Set the time adjustments, if any, on the card. Turn the adjustments clockwise to increase the time delay interval, or pulse. Replace the rear housing: tighten screws to maintain watertight, dust-tight sealing.
Alignment can now be accomplished in several ways: 9. a. Watch the indicator on the side of the receiver. It lights to indicate alignment. For best alignment, center the receiver in the beam. Determine the beam center by watching the indicator as you move the receiver up, down, left and right. b. Use the earphone alignment aid. Remove the pipe plug in the side of the receiver. Plug the earphone into the exposed jack. As you move the receiver into alignment, static gives way to a denite tone at the edge of the effective beam. The tone weakens as you approach optimum alignment, then gets louder as you near the opposite edge of the effective beam. Midway (both horizontally and vertically) between the two loudest tones is where the beam is strongest (though the relay will energize anywhere with the effective beam.) c. Use the earphone cord with a volt meter for precision alignment. Remove the earphone plug from control housing and insert the earphone. Position the transmitter and receiver units until the loudest tone is heard.
