MARINE PROCUREMENT LTD JOB DESCRIPTION GRADUATE ENGINEER

Summary Marine Procurement Ltd is a wholly owned affiliate company within the Edison Chouest Offshore group of companies (www.chouest.com). In-house design and building capabilities have made us unique in the offshore boat service industry. Our ability to design, build, own and operate, combined with a corporate philosophy to provide customers with the right vessel at a competitive price, has proven to be very successful. The company owns and operates a growing fleet of new generation offshore service vessels supporting a vast majority of the U.S. Gulf deepwater market, as well as a large independently owned fleet of research vessels. Our high-tech, high-capacity offshore vessels range from 87 feet to 348 feet, and are beyond comparison to any competition. The successful candidate will work as part of a small team based in the UK responsible for specifying and procuring equipment for the companys ship building yards in the USA and Brazil. The successful candidate will be required to undertake a wide range of duties including, but not restricted to, the provision of engineering support, procurement, expediting, administration and IT. Priorities Systems integration to ensure safe, reliable and cost effective engineering solutions are specified and installed in ECO vessels Develop product specifications with colleagues Evaluate preliminary designs Discuss and solve complex problems with suppliers and colleagues Recommend modifications for equipment as required Use mathematical modeling, analytical, conceptual and planning skills to solve problems Use computer aided design tools as required (including Autocad) Manage all electronic storage of design documentation Bid support Ensure all changes to design and / or specification are recorded and broadcast as required Attendance at factory acceptance tests Record, monitor and report progress on all major projects Ensure that equipment is shipped from suppliers to ECO shipyards efficiently and cost effectively Ensure that there is a high standard of communication between all the relevant parties about the status of shipments Co-ordinate and prioritise workflow Take initiative in managers absence Maintain comprehensive records and ensure that these are well organized

The successful candidate should possess the following qualifications and skills A degree in Engineering with demonstrable knowledge of the following: o The practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services. o Design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical drawings. o Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance. o Familiarity with raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods. o The use of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications. o CAD skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in their work The ability to manage multiple tasks Good problem solving Able to work unsupervised and to manage their own task list Enjoys working under pressure and to tight deadlines Please apply in writing by e-mail or letter to: John Beck Procurement Manager Marine Procurement Ltd The Estate Office Fenton Barns North Berwick East Lothian EH46 5BW john.beck@marineprocurement .com Applicants should enclose a cv and a covering e-mail / letter explaining why they wish to be considered for this position and their salary expectations.
