external support- assistance provided by state + districts
4 simple steps to build school’s capacity for these successful community
partnerships;
start with school priority- identify & discuss
work collaboratively- as a team
be persistent in seeking community partnerships

Schools can initiate partnerships in different ways.

Practices + activities can be aimed at;
improving reading, mathematical, oral & written communication, etc.

goal-focused community partnerships- workshops
Community partnerships on their own cannot ensure a school’s
effectiveness, but such partnerships are an important strategy
for creating inclusive schools.

An Evaluation of the Book
This book focuses on;

the necessary components + activities that aid schools in reaching

Weaknesses;
the author explains the same concepts in different contexts, this can be
confusing to readers
the book is based on an American perspective and the research was
done in American elementary and high schools, this makes one
question the validity and applicability to the South African context.
