COMMENTS
FRONTAL IMPACT SIDE IMPACT CHILD PROTECTION
Structures in the dashboard presented a potential risk to the knees and femurs of both the driver and passenger. The Captiva scored maximum points for the dummy performance in the side impact and pole tests. However, in the pole test, the curtain airbag did not deploy fully and the car was penalised by one point. The front passenger's airbag cannot be deactivated and a rearward-facing child restraint should not be used in this seating position. The label warning against doing so was not available in every European language. The presence of ISOFIX and top-tether anchorages in the rear outboard seats was not clearly marked. The Captiva has a seatbelt reminder for the driver and passenger's seats which met Euro NCAP's requirements. The Captiva scored maximum points for the protection offered by the bumper to pedestrians' legs. However, the front edge of the bonnet did not score any points.
Euro NCAPs rating applies fully only to the model with the specifications detailed here. Some equipment may not be fitted as standard to all versions in all countries. You should ensure that your car is fitted with the safety equipment you require.
