TRIM Context Microsoft Excel

2003 and 2007 add-ins

To integrate TRIM Context with MS Excel 2007:
Install the pre-requisites on each target computer:
o o Install .NET Framework 2.0 This is not required on Microsoft Windows Vista The Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Tools for Office Second Edition, If it is not already installed, download vstor.exe from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=F5539A90DC41-4792-8EF8-F4DE62FF1E81&displaylang=en and install it. Ask your IT support personnel if you are unable to download and/or install the files. Install Microsoft Office 2007. Note: You need to install Microsoft Office 2007 Primary Interop Assemblies (PIA) if Office 2007 is installed prior to .NET Framework 2.0. It is a Microsoft Windows Installer package that contains the Primary Interop Assemblies for 2007 Microsoft Office products: Download PrimaryInteropAssembly.exe. This file contains o2007pia.msi which is extracted when it is run. Install o2207pia.msi. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=59DAEBAABED4-4282-A28C-B864D8BFA513&displaylang=en

Install the TRIM Context Excel 2007 add-in:

o Run Excel2007AddIn.msi, supplied by TOWER Software. Note: If installing on Microsoft Windows Vista: Run Excel2007Addin.msi as Administrator using Start All Programs Accessories. Right-click Command Prompt and select Run As Administrator. Type msiexec /I [Path of Excel2007Addin.msi] and press Enter. o Excel2007AddIn.msi saves the file tsjXL12.xlam to C:\Program Files\TRIM Context\Samples\Desktop. This integration file sets up the TRIM Context keyboard shortcuts for Open, Save and Save As within Excel 2007. Note: When rolling out the Excel add-in via Group Policy, ensure that it is rolled out on a per user basis rather than a per machine basis

Configure the TRIM Context Excel 2007 add-in

o If installing on Windows versions prior to Vista: Copy tsjXL12.xlam to the C:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\Microsoft\Addins folder. If installing on Windows Vista: Copy tsjXL12.xlam to C:\Users\[username]\Appdata\Roaming\Microsoft\Addins o o Open Excel, click on the Office Button and clilck on the Excel Options button Select the Add-ins option. At the bottom of the dialog is a drop down list with the caption Manage. By default, this will have Excel Add-ins selected and a Go button next to it. Leave the default selected and click Go. The dialog Add-Ins displays with a list of the currently available add-ins. Select Tsjxl12, if it is not selected already. Click OK. Close and reopen Excel. You can now use a keyboard shortcut, for example, CTRL+S for Save - a TRIM dialog will now display.

Removing the TRIM Context Excel 2007 add-in

o o Open Excel, click on the Office Button and click on the Excel Options button Select the Add-ins option. At the bottom of the dialog is a drop down list with the caption Manage. By default, this will have Excel Add-ins selected and a Go button next to it. Select COM Add-ins and click Go. A dialog box will display showing the Excel12Addin check box selected. Remove the selection and restart Excel. The integration between TRIM and Excel will be switched off.

o o o Run Excel_XP_2003AddIn.msi, supplied by TOWER Software. Accept the licence agreement and follow the instructions on screen. Excel_XP_2003AddIn.msi saves the files tsjexcel10AddIn.dll and tsjExcel10Callback.xla in C:\Program Files\TRIM Context. Note: When rolling out the Excel add-in via Group Policy, ensure that it is rolled out on a per user basis rather than a per machine basis.

Removing the TRIM Context Excel 2003 add-in

o o In Excel, from the Tools menu, select Add-Ins. The Add-Ins dialog box displays showing the check boxes tsjexcelAddin.ExcelCallbackFunctions and TsjExcelCallback selected o o Remove the selections and exit Excel. The integration between TRIM and Excel will be switched off.

Run Excel_XP_2003AddIn.msi, supplied by TOWER Software, select Remove and follow the instructions on screen.

Saving a file locally or in a different format using Excel integrated with TRIM Context
In some circumstances, a user may want to save a file to a location other than TRIM Context, or in a format other than a spreadsheet, for example .csv format. You can configure TRIM Context to allow for this: In TRIM Context 6.1 SP6: o o o o o o o From the Tools menu, point to User Configuration, and select Options. Click the Integration tab. Check Integrate TRIM with all ODMA-compliant applications. Un-check Use ODMA directly with TRIM. Check Allow access to Windows File Open and Save Dialogs. Start or re-start Excel for the options to take effect. When you save in Excel, a Local button will be available to save the file in a different supported format, and to a location other than TRIM.
