Continuous Filament Winding (CFW)
The Continuous filament winding process for GRP pipes takes its name from that the GRP pipes are manufactured on an endless re-forming mandrel and the GRP pipe length is only limited by transport restrictions. Due to the cost advantages of the process in long manufacturing runs of larger diameters, these GRP pipes are mainly used for larger diameter water transmission projects, irrigation, power and desalination plants and similar. The GRP pipes are however equally suited for sewers, force mains and industrial applications. The PLC controlled manufacturing process gives a very high level of control of raw material distribution and curing. It is an industrial GRP pipe process that ensures that the quality is repeated in every pipe. The GRP pipes are manufactured in a diameter range from DN600 to DN2600 and in pressure classes according to AWWA C-950 up to 32 bar (kgs). Any stiffness class class is manufactured including the standard SN2500, SN5000 and SN10000 GRP pipe classes. The most commonly used joint is the well proven REKA sleeve joint and in addition the GRP pipes can be supplied with lock or butt strap joints for restrained pipe designs. The joints ensures a fast and safe installation process. Standard and special fittings are manufactured out of GRP pipes and supplied to suit all diameters, pressure and stiffness classes. Quality is ensured through a constant QA program on incoming raw material through production and process control and of finished products. Pacific Pipes are developing raw materials together with the raw material manufacturers to maximise the long term properties of the GRP pipes and fittings.

Pacific Pipe Systems - GRP Fittings, Manholes And Specials

Pacific Pipe Systems manufacture a full range of GRP fittings in the standard diameter range of 100 mm to 3000 mm and in a pressure range from 1 to 32 bar. Fittings are fabricated for both the continuous filament process and the helical winding process. The stiffness classes of all fittings are equal to the stiffness of the pipes for the project they are supplied to. Standard fittings include all required bends, tees, wyes, reducers, flanges, puddle flanges etc. In addition to standard GRP fittings, Pacific Pipe Systems fabricate a wide range of custom made fittings and spools as per every specific project requirement. To ensure that every component of the piping system has the same corrosion resistance and long term properties, Pacific Pipe Systems design and fabricate in GRP: Manholes. Lifting chambers and shafts. Overflow tank farms for storm water and sewers. Storage tanks for potable water and fire fighting water. Other custom made tanks for chemical processes. Helical Winding (HW). Wrapped Or Resin/Glass Pipes

Helical winding has a long history spanning more than 60 years as a process for manufacturing composite products for GRP pipes and vessels as well as civil and military applications. During the past 15 years the helical winding process of GRP pipes has evolved into wrapped pipes and this process has proven its effectiveness and reliability. The wrapped GRP pipe process consists of a liner and inner reinforced structural layer of resin / glass. The central core is premixed in exact quantities of resin and aggregate and wound on the pipe. The outer layer is a reinforced resin / glass layer. The process ensures that the central core of the GRP pipes is located in the neutral axis of the pipe structure which is not subjected to any stresses during the operation of the pipeline. All stresses are on the inner and outer reinforced structural layers. This GRP pipe system is manufactured in a standard diameter range of 100mm to 3000mm. Larger / smaller diameter GRP pipes can be manufactured for special project requirements. The GRP pipes are supplied with the diameters and tolerances specified in Pacific Customer Acceptance Standard. It is a controlled reproducible process using first class raw materials resulting in a corrosion resistant, composite structure meeting the design and operation requirements of any specified project. The GRP pipes are field connected with glass fiber reinforced bell and spigot couplings or sleeve Reka couplings meeting or exceeding the requirements of ASTM D4161. The bell and spigot couplings can be supplied with lock joints and testing nibbles enable testing of all couplings in the field during the installation and before the final hydro test of the completed pipeline. For specific project requirements, Pacific Pipe Systems manufacture resin / glass pipes.
