Proudly Introducing, Kristen Muir!


Beginning in DECEMBER Kristen Muir will be joining our team! Back in 1987 while attending college, Kristen began teaching group fitness classes in the dance studio on her campus. Together with two other student instructors, she began a fitness club that allowed other students to take a multitude of classes each week through paying dues. Since then, she has taught a multitude of class formats. Currently, she most enjoys teaching barefoot classes, Barre, Boot Camp style class formats, BOSU classes, and Pilates. As a fitness instructor she works to inspire others to find the FUN in staying active from childhood through adulthood. Kristens educational interests have always been in the realm of helping people. From teaching special education to pursuing a Ph.D. in clinical psychology, she has tried to understand what motivates, what limits, and what can inspire people to do more than they believe they can. After having three children, she realized the limits of the public school system in California when it comes to physical fitness educational programming. business focused on fitness instruction and curriculum development for the Davis elementary schools. In 2008-2009 this programming was awarded the Silver Medal from the Governors Council on Physical Fitness and Sports for the services provided to the students of North Davis Elementary. On any given day, Kristen can be found at North Davis Elementary leading fitness sessions with upwards of 96 students at a time, at a Davis park coaching a youth soccer team, or at one of our Davis fitness locales teaching an energetic challenging class. Kristens mission is to empower those around her to go beyond the limits they set for themselves while finding the FUN in being active.

Coming to our gym presents you with the option to workout socially or individually; whether its in one of our group classes, with one of our wonderful personal trainers, or independently DSF wants you to feel comfortable and connected! Another way for us to stay connected is through our monthly newsletter! We are always excited to give you new info about whats going on at DSF. But the newsletter is only a oneway channel, from us to you. Although we know you appreciate it, we want to interact with all you lovely people too! Thats why we have Facebook and Twitter! You can check into Facebook, and let us know that youre hitting the weights, or treadmill. We will also be posting videos and photos of some of our classes so you can really visualize what some of the workouts entail! We want to be able to share in your journey to a healthier, happier life!

Kristens Classes!
In December, Kristen will be teaching at 4:30 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Join her for Power Fit on Tuesdays and Pure Tone Boot Camp on Thursdays. Both highenergy classes use interval training, to maximize your cardio and muscular benefits. To get us all off to a great Day Light Savings, Kristen will be teaching Boot Camp on Sunday, November 6th at 9:00am. Sleep in that extra hour and then come take an amazing class. You wont be disappointed! Power Fit description: Work the cardio intervals, using the step and BOSU for sports drills and plyometrics, to raise your heart rate. Power through the intervals of muscle work to bring your heart rate down, while building muscle and burning fat. Pure Tone Boot Camp description: This high energy class combines traditional interval training with fitness techniques from Pilates, ballet barre, and sports rehab. Firm, tighten and tone your entire body with the emphasis on length and precision.
