Director Responsibilities

Executive Director - whose duties include but are not limited to: leading the Directorate and general meetings; acting as a primary liaison to other student organizations; representing CSSI on-campus; overseeing the activities of the Directorate; publishing a monthly report for the Advisory Board and other Directors consisting of the compiled monthly reports of the Directorate, including a monthly report of the Executive Director focusing on the general relations of CSSI with the rest of campus and results/status of the Executive Directors other duties, at a minimum; managing his or her department staff; updating the CSSI website until or unless a dedicated Webmaster is assigned; recording meeting minutes unless someone else is acting as scribe and present for the given meeting; sending out a weekly list-serv email; compiling, reviewing, and re-distributing the bi-weekly reports of the Directorate to the Directorate and Advisory board; and serving as a non-voting member. Director of Projects - whose duties include but are not limited to: acting as the Executive Director in his or her absence, overseeing the management of all CSSI projects; overseeing the recruitment and retention of Project Managers; managing his or her department staff; acting as a resource for project managers; providing the Executive Director with a monthly status report on all Projects in addition to the bi-weekly report. A project is defined as any work piece that is generally expected to be finished within a 12 month period. Determination of the status of a particular item as a Project or an Initiative, if contested, should be resolved via discussion at a Director Meeting ending with a majority vote. Director of Business Administration - whose duties include but are not limited to: keeping a current budget on all organizational expenditures; filing (or arranging to be filled) the appropriate paperwork when an expenditure is needed; providing the Executive Director with a monthly budget report in addition to the bi-weekly report; managing his or her department staff; managing daily operations and facilities within Matthews 037; participating in all major event planning by attending at least one early meeting for the specific purpose of identifying all expected purchases/expenditures so that a timeline can be established for when such purchases need to occur by, even if otherwise not involved with the event; and providing purchasing advice when a purchase is over $300 or when requested. Director of Engagement - whose duties include but are not limited to: coordinating Green Team volunteer efforts; providing professional development and social opportunities for members; finding innovative ways to reward volunteers and members; managing his or her department staff; hosting at least one non-work engagement event each month; providing the Executive Director with a monthly report summarizing and concluding all events (including what went well and what needs work) since the last monthly report in addition to the bi-weekly report. Director of Initiatives - whose duties include but are not limited to: managing large campus wide initiatives; seeking out new partnerships with university departments and organizations; coordinating Green Team logistics working with the Director of Engagement on the event plans and with the Director of Business Administration for the purchasing of all needed items with as much advanced notice as possible; brainstorming new initiatives for CSSI; managing his or her department staff; and providing the Executive Directors with a monthly report on the status of all Initiatives, focusing on changes since the last monthly report, in addition to the bi-weekly update.
