BASIC DATA OF THE DRIVE UNIT 1.1. Structure 1 2 3 5 4 Function of exchangers drive unit Controllable energy recovery from exhaust air Range of operation: The drive unit is an integral part of any rotary exchanger supplied by VTS company. Basic elements: 1. frequency converter 2. exchangers rotor 3. belt transmission of rotors drive 4. drive unit cabling 5. motoreducer asynchronous squirrel-cage motor coupled with a reduction bevel-gear 1.2. Functioning The main task of the drive unit is start-up and smooth control of exchangers rotary speed in a range of 3 to 10 rpm. Adjustment of rotor speed is achieved by changing voltage frequency feeding the motor. The wide range of the frequency converters functions enabled a detailed monitoring of drive unit operation parameters. DRIVE UNIT INSTALLATION AND CONFIGURATION IN THE VTS AUTOMATIC CONTROL SYSTEM ! CAUTION! Dangerous voltage! Connect the converter in non-voltage state Protect the circuit against an unintended switch-on. Apply the grounding circuit. All operations: assembly, start-up and maintenance should be performed by properly trained, responsible and professional staff. Ensure allowing for static discharge before touching the device. The control leads should be installed so as to eliminate inuence of distracted or capacitive inductive elds onto the automation functions. Fluctuations and aberrations of the rated supply voltage must meet requirements mentioned in the technical parameters. In other cases some functional interferences or hazardous states may appear. After switching off the frequency converter, some hazardous voltage from loaded capacitors may appear at conductive elements and power supply. Please use warning plates. 3.1. Power supply and control system connection of the exchangers drive unit The VS 21-150 CG ACX36-2 type control boxes manufactured by VTS are adapted for direct connection of the exchangers drive unit. These control boxes are conventionally equipped with suitable protection unit and clamps for feeding and control of the rotary exchanger. If the VS 00 HMI Advanced UI is connected to the control gear then conguration of the converter parameters can be carried out using the option Converter programming in Advanced tab. CAUTION! Before carried out an conguration you should manually set of parameters 8-31=2; 8-33=3; 5- 11=6. After sending parameters you ought to manually produce a procedure of automatic motor tuning (AMT) - started by function 1-29. Connection of drive unit power supply to the VTS control box is shown on the control box electric diagram. Connection of a communication line for the rotary exchanger control is shown on the automation application diagram supplied with the control box. 3.3. Motor protection ! Motor overload protection is realized on two manners. Frequency converter is furnished with numeric algorithm, which calculates time and value of the motor current overow (i 2 t integral). If the converter detects a overload, it turns off the motor and generates an alarm signal. Additional protection is a thermal relay inside the engine that brakes the control circuit of 19 input of the frequency controller in case of overheating, which shuts off the engine without generating alarm signal. The alarm requires canceling by turning off and on again the converters feeding voltage. After each such event you denitely have to wait 20 minutes before next start-up of the exchangers drive. This time is required for cooling down the motor. Immediate start-up may lead to the motors damage! 4. DRIVE UNIT INSTALLATION AND CONFIGURATION IN OPTIONAL AUTOMATIC CONTROL SYSTEM ! CAUTION! Recommended protection of a supply circuit of the frequency converter: 1. B6-type installation switch 2. Gg6-type fuse-element 4.2. Exchangers drive unit control The wide range of the frequency converters functions enables to adapt the exchangers drive unit to various needs of an user. The Micro Drive converter features: 1. 5 2-state control inputs, e.g.: start / stop / operating speed select / pulse input 2. continuous current or voltage input for setting operation frequency 3. congurable relay outputs 4. analog output 0-20ma 5. RS485 communication interface with Modbus protocol enabling full control of exchanger 4.3. Example of a converter conguration Taking advantage of optional elements S1 and V1 shown on the scheme in point 4.1 it is possible to get e.g. such funcionality of drive: 1. frequency setting via an analogue voltage input 2.
