Janice Hendrie presented her husband Mike with a trip to the Detroit Tigers Fantasy Camp, knowing that he hadnt played baseball since he was a child. Always enjoying athletic competition, Mike had followed his father for 30 years in ice boat racing all over the Midwest. His Dad had won many championships, and Mike at age 52 was still in good physical condition as he took that sport (continued on page 2)

50 National, HoHoKam Park, Sacramento Giants 6, San Jose 2 -- John Yandle allowed two hits through nine innings, but a determined Sacramento Giants team scored four in the 10th to claim a third straight 50 National title. Jerry Toman threw all 10 and had the gamewinning RBI for the Giants. by Jeff McGaw 60+ Mountain, HoHoKam Park, Greenwood Ridge Dragons 14, Sacramento Solons 5 -The Dragons scored seven runs in the third to take a commanding lead. Larry Hendrickson threw all nine. Mark Adams and Randy Olsen had two RBI apiece in the win. Tony Shimetz and Mark Fess had three hits apiece. by Jeff McGaw 60+ Wood Bat Central, Phoenix Municipal Stadium, El Paso Tejanos 8, Tucson Golden Aces 6 -- A five run seventh inning, and a strong outing from starting pitcher Jesus Munoz pushed the El Paso Tejanos to victory. Roberto Padilla was 3-for-3 and scored three runs for the winners. Chuck Milo was 2-for-4 for the Aces. Jason Johnson, HardBall 45 Central, Phoenix Municipal Stadium, So Cal Sun Devils 13, Rochester Red Wings 0 Dave Morrow threw a complete game shutout for the Sun Devils who turned six double plays on defense. Rochester pitchers helped the Devils with six hit batters. Sun Devil slugger Pervis Cowens was 3-for-4, and center fielder David Bird, who had a fractured right wrist, had a bunt single and a double down the left field line. by Jeff McGaw

Kroon turned a key double play in the ninth to end a Tiger threat. Cale Shepherd had three hits including two doubles. -- by Alejandro Rodriguez. 35+ Mountain, Salt River Fields, Chicago North Cubs 9, Tri Valley White Sox 3 -Jim Balian pitched a complete game for the Cubs while teammate Javier Gamboa was 2for-4 with a double, triple and two runs scored. White Sox. catcher Oscar Samano was 2-for-3 with a double, a triple, and three RBI. Eric Pickett tripled for the Sox. Jason Johnson, HardBall 50W American, Tempe Diablo Stadium, New Era 5, Dallas Rangers 1 -- An eighthinning RBI single by Tony Frescura, and a sacrifice fly by Ed Warnke drove catapulted New Era ahead to stay. Right-hander Phil Trocivia allowed just five hits in the complete-game win over the top-seeded Rangers. by Jason Skoda. 50W Central, Tempe Diablo Stadium, Fort Worth Phillies 9, Houston Baseball Club 8 - Postponed for four hours due to wet fields this game finally got started at a little past 5:00pm and both teams came out swinging. Tied 8-8 after nine innings, fittingly this game needed extra innings to get a winner. Other players there shared with him about the MSBL league available in his hometown and in 1999 he became a player again. By 2000 he was going to the World Series, and hes been attending ever since. Two years ago he started up the 65s after winning the 58+ American Division. Last year his team lost in the championship game and they are giving teams a battle again this year. A 40 year Real Estate/Builder/ Developer in Michigan, Mike is still working through this tough economic times, especially in the hard-hit automotive community. Both his sons live block from each other in Chicago so visiting family can be accomplished in one trip. Mike, Jr. (35) and Andrew (30) attended the University of Michigan after earning MBAs, now work in the business world. Janice is a retired 39 year high school Spanish teacher. Most of the Detroit 65s live in the Detroit/Flint area, but Mike enjoys a couple of his teammates from Puerto Rico. In his 8th trip to the World Series, Mike has been to the championship table to collect 4 rings, in 58+ Central, 60+ National, and 65+ American. He also has attended the Fall Classic, and now assists Steve Sigler and Gary DAmbrisi in running the new MSBL Grapefruit Classic held the last weekend of March in Winter Haven, Florida.
