A decade ago, students had to compete not just while writing their exam but even to see their exam results put up on their school and college notice boards. However, with the ICT initiatives taken to make the availability of the results online, students no longer need to struggle, travel long distances and stand in unending queues to see their results. In just a few clicks, the students can view their results online of various academic, entrance and recruitment examinations held by several Boards/Institutions/Commissions (e.g. CBSE, ICSE, State Education Boards, UPSC, SSC, ICAI, ICAR, GGSIPU etc) in India. To make these results reach even the remotest corners of the Country, NIC has been disseminating results using multiple channels since 1997 so that more and more students can access them with minimal effort and time. Besides the World Wide Web (www), the results are also being made available through IVRS (Interactive Voice Response System), e-mail and SMS (Short Message Service).

RESULTS PORTAL
A specialized Portal developed for disseminating results (http://results.nic.inExternal website that opens in a new window) has become extremely popular amongst students and parents who can check the results from the comfort of their homes or a nearby cyber cafe. Through this portal one can not only get

an access to vital information like News Update, Result Statistics etc. but can also download mark sheets and other vital forms. As soon as the results are declared, the Result portal reflects them online under any one out of the three main categories viz.Academic(External website that opens in a new window), Entrance(External website that opens in a new window) and Recruitment(External website that opens in a new window) results. Students can also register themselves with the portal so that they can be informed via e-mail about the latest updates on the portal. The portal has three major sections namely- the Student Corner(External website that opens in a new window), the School Corner(External website that opens in a new window) and the Board Corner(External website that opens in a new window). The Student Corner lets the students access a whole lot of information, important web resources, admission announcements, admit cards, mark sheet, online counseling from time to time.
The School Corner can be customized according to the needs of the schools and academic

institutions and also provides its visitors information on services like getting school/institution wise consolidated results, electronic delivery of communications from the examination boards and alike. The Board Corner is the section through which the examination boards can announce various exams related information such as call for applications, submission dates, on-line submission of application forms, delivery of admit cards, result declaration dates etc. Messages will contain the words from the commissioner general of the examination department about the purpose and advantages of the online examination website and motivate people to utilize it up to maximum. Examination Calendar will display the various academic activities which are going to takes place in the current year. News and event contains the current affairs or latest updations or changes which are going to takes place near future. Contact us is going to have all the necessary information of all the contacts of the various authorities of examination department Select examination is the option which displays the types of various examinations from which the student will need to select his/her examination type to proceed. Enter your roll/registration number is the field in which student is supposed to fill their individual information to get the desired output. Submit is the button ,but clicking on to this button, result of the student will get finally displayed if correct information is filled in the text field.
