Preface

The Slavic word for the sea

is “More” (pronounced mor-a) and it
really is a fitting name; the more you
see, the more you love it, and the
more you want to experience it.
I have had a lifelong affection
with the sea and have visited many of
the worlds oceans and seas but there
is a rustic maturity with the Adriatic
sea that really makes it a wonderful
place to live on or visit. These are a
few of my photographic observations.

This book is dedicated to the DeLorenzo

kids, CC, CM and JC who I was fortunate to
share some of these memories of Kornati
and the Slovenian seaside trips with.

TO WALK ON WATER PAIRS

ALL LINED UP
Rarly do things line up themselves
as these two times that were just
asking to be pictured. The seaside is
just full of unique (like the pier) or
birds that are gone the next minute.

LIGHTHOUSE FAMILY
There are so many rocks and coves along
the coastline and on the islands that there are
endless amounts of various light beacons to warn
ships and fishing vessels these are a few different
shapes and sizes and locations I’ve come across.
TALES OF TWO TIMES
I find it interesting to see how modern living and historical places come to-
gether in contemperary ways, these are two examples I took at the coastal old
town of Šibinek, Croatia.
Islands are wonderful things but rarely are they are so unique and
priceless they earn the distinction as a national park. Such is the case with
Kornati ( meaning cones) a large collection of small islands (365 by some ac-
counts) in the middle of the Croatian cost, a true national treasure.
MERCHANTS OF VACATIONS
Day-trip excursions are a wonderful way to experiance small uninhabitated
islands and coves.

COLORS OF THE COAST
It always amazes me the vi-
brancy of colors I find on the
seaside. There is so much
old stone work in walls and
chapels but then the bright
colors of painted houses and
boats, the sky and sea bring
it all together so well.

EVENING ON THE ADRIATIC
This is a special time of day for me, it brings closer to yet another wonderful
day, in summer the yachts all come in and fisherman in boats and on piers
dot the coastline for a catch in the pleasant evening air.

I’m just glad to have had another day in

paradise.

I have spent much of my time since January of 1999 in Croatia and

Slovenia as a full-time volunteer with the Family International looking for
social solutions for the benefit for the people of these lands.

I am also an amateur photographer and writer and I feel blessed to

be able to use these gifts to share with others the treasures that I’ve found,
photographed and stories I come across in my travels.

These few pictures contained in this book are but a mere fragment of
the places to experiences and see in the amazing Adriatic coast, but it is my
hope that it inspires and awakes an interest and curiosity in others to see it
for themselves too.

coast but other locations inland as well please visit the popular blog I write at:
