ADVENT LESSONS

Week 1 The Advent Wreath. Light candle (Purple). Advent means coming. We have a very special day coming in a few weeks. This lesson shares the meaning of advent for kids and how the history of the wreath and advent candles, have a significant role in our lives today. Kids will connect with the Gods never ending love, heaven, and exhibiting the Fruits of the Spirit. (Mouse) Week 2 - The Shepherds Receive Hope. Light Candle (Purple). Shares the importance of how God looks at the heart not at how important we are or how much we know. He calls those who seem the most unlikely yet have a humble heart that is willing to serve Him. Kids will connect with the popular and not so popular group. Gods love gives hope to all people. (Lamb) Week 3 The Angels Bring Peace. Light candle (Purple). Shares how God uses different means to share His Peace & Good News with those in the world. We must be ready to hear what God wants to reveal to us through the Word, our friends, the church, our teachers, and even our own parents. Kids will connect with the importance of communicating for God and using carefulness in every day speech. (Donkey) Week 4 The Star Bring Light. Light Candle (White). Shares the importance of why we need to be a light and how we can do just that in all the darkness that surrounds us. Kid will connect with how they can share Christ with others. (Pig) Week 5 The Baby Jesus Brings Love. Christmas Sunday Light candle (Pink). Love came down at Christmas. This lesson shares the important message of why Jesus left all the splendor of heaven to come to earth to be born to the poor carpenters home of Joseph and Mary. Kids will connect with the love that Jesus will bring to their hearts. (Cow) Week 6 The Wise Men Find Joy (Sunday after Christmas Day) Shares what God has to say to us after the BIG DAY is all over, and how can we show his love by sharing the gifts He has given to us with others. His love will fill our hearts with

joy. Kids will connect with giving of their talents to be used for the glory of God. (Camel)

Snacks

1. Bagels spread with cream cheese and topped with red and green gumdrops. 2. Cream cheese shaped into a Christmas tree sprinkled with green sugar. 3. Red and green jell-o made using Christmas cookie cutters. 4. Pretzels dipped in white or dark chocolate with a red or green M&M on top. 5. Popcorn balls dipped in white icing to coat. 6. Pizza made using biscuits in muffin pans. Spray pans, tuck in biscuit, and add sauce, a pepperoni, and a little cheese on top. Bake according to directions on the can. 7. Taco shells (cut into 1/8 parts) fry and dip in confectioner sugar. Place all in a brown paper bag after fried and shake the bag. Pour out the chips. Yummy! Can use cinnamon sugar instead. 8. Lime pop poured into red punch, then adding small dips of green or pineapple sherbet on top to melt. 9. Plain sugar cookies and provide icing, m&ms, string liquorish, and small candy canes for the kids to decorate. 10. Ice cream cones dipped on crushed peppermint, or either add a small candy cane on top.

MUSIC Recommendations A Big Barrel of Carols Includes most of the traditional Christmas songs. However you must have a computer to operate since this is used with windows media and it does not have choreography for the songs. Lyrics and soundtracks are provided.

No Wonder Musical DVD provides choreography and can be used with a DVD/TV player. Selections can be chosen that meet your needs.
