Once upon a time there was a King in a distant land who had a Wazir and a Barber.

Both
Barber and the Wazir had landed themselves special place in the King’s eye based on their
respective specialties.

Everyday the Barber will notice that whenever King will ask Wazir on how are the things
going he will just say “nothing could be any better. People are satisfied, well fed, secure and
praise His Highness”. And every time on hearing this Barber will say to himself, how come!?
In the place he lives, people are around him are all tired of the ever rising inflation,
unemployment is at peak, bandits have turned into big army in their own now and people
continuously curse the King for his poor policies!

Barber became certain that Wazir is pulling bluffs on the King and keeping him ill informed,
so one day in best interest of the King he was serving and in order to justify the high
benefits and salary he was getting from the King he begged King’s pardon and respectfully
stated right in front of the Wazir that Wazir is unfortunately pulling bluffs on the King.

To Barber and Wazir surprise, King didn’t get angry on the Barber and told him that he is so
pleased with his honesty that from today onwards he will make him the Grand Wazir.

Barber turned Grand Wazir was given a pay rise, a celebration feast, audience with the
Grand Court and then above all place in the exclusive Royal Enclaves. Every day the Barber
will wake up in the most affluent part of the country, see nothing which could be any better,
with people all looking satisfied and content, well fed, secure and praising His Highness. And
he will tell so when the King will ask him.

After a month of the same continuous jargon, one day King reminded him how he
complained what then Wazir used to tell of everything being right, how come ever since he
has become the Grand Wazir he says the very same? To which this Barber turned Grand
Wazir said, “Your Highness, I tell you what I see around in the Royal enclaves”. And he was
not lying, everything was indeed alright there.

This short story reminded me of our very own Rehman Malik, adviser on Interior to Prime
Minister Yusuf Raza Gillani. Mr Rehman Malik was born in Sialkot to a common Barber, since
then he climbed the social ladder by
making right choices and right friends. Today he is one of the richest people in the place and
has since moved the social status of all of his family.

I personally always used to wonder how come people rising from the lowest levels of
society like Rehman Malik do not care anymore for the very place they came from, but now
after going through my own narrated story once again I realize that they just simply live in
the Royal enclaves now.

Rehman Malik has come a long way, being a Chief of Federal Intelligence Agency (FIA)
where he infamously collaborated with Mossad and RAW over Taliban and other similar
groups, to eventually running a

way to London in a self imposed exile after he was removed from the post by ex-PM Nawaz
Sharif after he allegedly sent a 200 page report citing corruptions of his to ex-President
Rafiq Tarrar. He has since came on the surface as one of the biggest business partner of
assassinated ex-PM Benazir Bhutto, where he rose so much in influence as to even sideline
the party mighty like Makhdoom Ameen Faheem, who devoted all of his life to the Bhutto’s
Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).

Rehman Malik also made headlines for himself being linked with many suspicious actions
during and after the events which took place around the assassination of Banazir Bhutto.
And then lately over his un-paralleled support for Pervaiz Musharaf through some surprise
statements.
Now this man lives in the Royal enclaves with being virtually the Interior Minister as all
would be MInisters declined taking the Ministry after seeing twice assassination attempts on
Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao.

So now know you know about the Barber.
