BACKGROUNDOFTHESTUDY
What do have in street foods? Most of the Filipinos especially the youth
are fun of eating street foods, that's why we choose this topic in case study.
Because these are selling on the street, the germs from pollution and insects will
plague there. Street vendors serve their food hot, but are we sure it's safe? Food
poisoning can cause fatal effects or even death to people who are at risk when
eating street foods. Now that many pollutants are everywhere, eating street foods
is dangerous. Street foods is often seen as dirty, but this is mainly a problem with
unlicensed vendors. However, many Filipinos particularly the low income bracket
still patronize it. A construction worker eating street foods says, "kapag dumaan
na sa apoy malinis na meaning all cooked food is safe.
Street food is ready-to-eat food or drink sold in the street or other public
places such as a market, by a hawker or vendor which often from portable stalls.
t is usually sold in busy public areas, such as: Pavements, roadways, back
alleys of markets, school premises, bus and railways stations, beaches, park and
other public spaces. While street foods are regional, many are not having spread
beyond their region of origin. Most street foods are both finger and fast food, it is
also cost less than a restaurant meal. The popularity of street foods is their
affordability and convenience. However, concern on cleanliness and freshness
often discourage people from eating street foods. With the increasing pace of
globalization and tourism, the safety of the food should become one of the major
concerns of public health authorities in many third world countries. And a focus
for governments and social scientists of these countries to raise public
awareness regarding to the possible hazard of street food that be their death.
The street food is food which can be obtained from sidewalk vendors with
a make shift or portable stalls. The most common street foods in our town are:
squid balls, fish balls, kikiam, balut(duck's egg with fetus), betamax(chicken
blood, shape into squares), isaw(b-b-que chicken entrails), tokneneng(quail egg
dip in batter of flour and water, deep fry), etc. These street foods are easy to find
outside the school gates, even behind the provincial hospital and other public
places where they offer most exotic delicacies. Eating street foods are
experiencing the culture. f you want to really understand how a culture is, try
their food. "We are what we eat is an old proverb. Our nutritional status, health,
physical and mental faculties depend on the food we eat and how we eat it
access to good quality food has been man's main endeavour from the earliest
days of human existence. Safety of food is a basic requirement of food quality.
Human health is a general condition of a person in mind, body and spirit,
usually meaning to be free from illness, injury or pain. Systematic activities to
prevent or cure health problems and promote good health in humans are
delivered by health care providers. Achieving and maintaining health is an
ongoing process, shape by both the evolution of health care knowledge and
practices, as well personal strategies and organized interventions for staying
healthy.
Base on the news from the internet, Babylyn Diloy, in her fourties, suffered
vomiting, scared skin and muscle pains when she ate fried squid rings or
calamares. She wears not to eat calamares anymore, even if somebody tempts
her to do it. According to the findings found by BFAD (Bureau of Food and
Drugs) through a series of laboratory tests that there's a huge amount of
formalin, a form of formaldehyde (a preservative) in the frozen squids being
imported from nearby countries (the recorded specimen was from China). What
happen to Miss Diloy was the contaminated calamares cause the adverse effect
in her body that circulated through her blood. Mr. Malcolm Sarmiento Jr. Of
BFAR (Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources) warned the public about the
safety of imported frozen squid as street food. Administrative order 195 of
Philippine government prohibits the use of such materials into a street delicacy. t
can be used in food processing that will undergo a through testing and
preparation to avoid unnecessary incident.
Astig ang pinoy! f street foods abroad are hotdogs, burgers, dim sum, and
fries, to modify it in the Philippines the fashion are fish balls, kwek-kwek, etc.
especially in the middle to lower class of population. Maybe better if you do that,
"Astig ang sikmura ng Pinoy. Still do not know why all the rage of Pinoy likes
this.

. Generalization/Conclusion

Based on the data, we generated conclusion that the possible effects of
eating street foods are:
O Bacterial infection, vomiting due to excessive eating.
O Food poisoning caused by poisonous substances comes from the vehicles
smoke.
O Throat infection due to infectious bacteria.
O We can also encounter some disease like E. coli from foods which are
processed.
O And illness like hepatitis, scared skin and muscle pains from contaminated
foods.
Despite of these, many people still eat street foods. According to others who
are eating these foods says that, it's depends on the human stomach. f the
stomach of the person is unstable or inefficient to eat this kind of food, it can
break him/her. But still, street food is a way to show the changing perspective of
the Filipinos and the reason for the patronage of many Philippine street foods are
the low and affordable price. But we should still remember that even the street
foods are inexpensive and delicious, we could still need to consider our health.
So when we eat a certain street foods, it is a must to ask first the vendors,
how she/he prepared those foods and we should know the personality of the
sellers we are buying for. t is for our own safety. Safety precaution is an ounce
of prevention. f we're selling food at home, we must ensure the safety of the
ingredients we are using, food poisoning can cause fatal effects or even death to
people who are at risk when eating street foods.
RecommendationsSuggestions
Based on the conclusion that have generated we have some
recommendations and suggestions. Sanitation or hygiene of street foods is the
only issue faced by each consumer and seller. Therefore we recommend some
preparations that can do to reduce the problem of sanitation.
O Someone else must provide food and taking money paid to not go the dirt
and germs from the money to the foods.
O The retailer also should always wash.
O The cooks and the one who prepares the sale should not even matter their
hands because there's a possibility that it will fall likely to the foods.
O Must also be no smoking near the food stall because it swallowed the smoke
caused by cigarettes.
O Cooking food should keep hiding, and not exposed to the sun.
O More appropriate if you buy only the cheapest oil so they are not for repeated
use.
O ndeed so important the hygiene and health condition of the seller to prevent
some diseases that can be transferred to the buyers.
O Street food vending should be regulated to include health checks for vendors.
Provision for appropriate clothing and food handling to avoid food poisoning
brought about by improper preparations and food handling.
O Also required the involvement of some public institutions to help more intense
enhancement of street foods.
O Hence government should provide comprehensive guidance of food safety
for the vendors, trailers and retailers of street food.
O And the establishment of small organizations in different areas of street food
vendors will do to better overcome the trade of street foods.
f the recommended preparations or suggestions should follow, all the
street foods can be safe. No more worries or issues for the sanitation and
hygiene of the sellers. And we can now safely eat street foods because our
health is more important than anything.
