INTRODUCTION . NGO word stand for Non Government Organization is a legally constituted organisation created by natural or legal persons that operates independently from any government. NGOs are funded by partially or totally by government, the NGO maintains nongovernmental status by excluding government representatives from membership in the organization who works for the people of the societies like Orphan, poor children and family, old people, Physically challenged people etc in the societies .This type of organization is also called non profit organization where people works to serve humanity irrespective of caste and creeds. NGOs are funded totally or partially by governments, the NGO maintains its non-governmental status by excluding government representatives from membership in the organization. In many jurisdictions, these types of organization are called "civil society organizations" or referred to by other names.

Akshaya Patra Foundation


They began this initiative with the vision that No child in India shall be deprived of education because of hunger. Akshaya Patra Foundation is a not-for-profit organization working for educating children, institutional care, health related issues and many more. It is a Non-Governmental Organization in India. It runs the worlds largest NGO midday meal program for underprivileged school children in India. The Akshaya Patra Foundation is a public, charitable, secular Trust, registered in Bangalore. The Board of Trustees comprise missionaries of ISKCON Bangalore, corporate professionals, and entrepreneurs.

Madhu Pandit Dasa, Chairman an M.Tech post graduate from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Mumbai, Madhu Pandit Dasa is the visionary who initiated the Akshaya Patra program in the year 2000, developing a technology-driven operating model. Chanchalapathi Dasa, Vice-chairman Chanchalapathi Dasa, is a post-graduate from the premier institution, the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and provides strategic directions to the Akshaya Patra program. Chitranga Chaitanya Dasa, Program Director A food expert, CC Das brings with him special skills in fund-raising and was instrumental in setting up the overseas offices of the Foundation.

T.V.Mohandas Pai, Board member, Infosys Technologies An ace chartered accountant by profession, Mohandas Pai has held key positions in Infosys since 1994. In addition to his current responsibilities, Pai is working with governments and decision-makers across India to improve the quality of education in the country. Abhay Jain,Head - Group corporate affairs, Manipal Education and Medical Group Abhay Jain is one of the largest distributors for polymers in South India. He is on the Board of Governors of the prestigious Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIMB) and the Maliviya National Institute of Technology, Jaipur. He has also served as the vice president in the Birla Group of companies. Ramdas Kamath,Vice-president (finance & admin), Infosys Technologies Deeply committed to the socio-cultural development of India, Ramdas Kamath is involved in philanthropic activities and is particularly passionate about underprivileged children's welfare. V.Balakrishnan,CFO, Infosys Technologies Bringing with him several years of finance and accounts expertise, Balakrishnan also serves on the boards of Infosys Technologies Australia Pty Limited and Infosys Consulting, Inc, both wholly owned subsidiaries. Raj Kondur, Chairman, Nirvana Business Solutions An alumnus of the Harvard Business School, Raj Kondur has worked for several years in Morgan Stanley and AT Kearney in the US and is known for his expertise in fund management.

Awards and recognizition.


The Akshaya Patra foundation has been recognized for its good work by organizations and personalities all over the world. CSO Partners Annual Reporting Award 2011 (runner-up) Indian Express Innovation Award ICAI Gold shield award for excellence in financial reporting President Barack Obama's letter of Appreciation In a letter, Akshaya Patra was heralded by President Barack Obama as an imaginative approach that has the potential to serve as a model for other countries. Place in the LIMCA book of World Records Akshaya Patra has been recognized by the Limca Book of Records and was the winner of the 2008 CNBC-TV India Business Leader of the Year Award.

SMILE FOUNDATION.
As a Social Venture Philanthropist, Smile Foundation promotes and catalyses universal education among underprivileged children, create the process to embrace these children into mainstream in a sustained manner, facilitate them to emerge as productive assets, and set the foundation for nation building. Celebrity and guests Celebrities are ambassadors, of the society they are from, to the rest of the world. They are loved at home and now, also worldwide. They have the power of influence on millions. People across ages and segments consider them as role models. And mostly follow with great conviction the ideas promoted by their favourite star. It thus becomes very important for the celeb that he/she endorse a worthy cause. Smile Foundation has received immense support from many celebrities of the country and appreciates their big contribution in bringing Smile to this height. Board of Advisors Smile Foundation is managed by a Board of Advisors which comprises of individuals from diverse backgrounds and expertise. The body is formed for a period of one year and a few independent members with eminence and reputation are nominated each year. Members of this board meet once every quarter. Mr. Santanu Mishra an Associate Member of ICSI (Institute of Company Secretaries of India), is an Alumni of Indian Institute of Management (IIM -A). Besides also holding a degree in law, Mr. Mishra specializes in Enterprise Transformation, strategies and Scaling up. Mr. Yogesh Jagia, a Lawyer by profession with specialization in economic laws, practices in Delhi High Court & Supreme Court of India. Mr. Praveen Gupta is a Masters in Business & Economics(MBE) from Delhi University. He advices to the top corporate houses in India on various strategic issues.

Dr. Ira Dash Rajguru, a Doctorate in Social Sciences with specialization in HR and Women Issues, has been working with HR dept of Unicorp and subsequently worked as a HR consultant to Ingramico, Icons & V5 Global. Interested i n writing, she has authored the book Women and Education in Rajasthan. Mr. Nesar Ahmad, is an associate member of ICSI (Institute of Company Secretaries of India). He specializes in Company Secretarial services, Corporate Laws, Business Re-structuring, Merger & Amalgamation, Merchant Banking and Legal Matters. At present, Mr. Ahmed is the Vice-president of the ICSI.

QUESTIONS:

1. Do they work equally for surfer and for people who come to page deliberately? Ans. Akshaya Patra Foundation and Smile Foundation working for providing food to poor childrens, educating children, institutional care, health related issues and many more. It works equally for both surfer and people who came to page deliberately. The webpage has certain catchy information which attracts the readers eye such as, pictures, how to help, social networking website follow link, projects. In their portal which tells about the stories of the children who have faced various circumstances are now currently with the foundation so that they get good knowledge so as to compete in the real business world to earn of their livelihood in simple and straight way. These websites also has link which tries to help out children who visit the site for the first time. Having a user friendly site eases off the workload of the organization as well as the person who access the page of the NGO. They try to figure out the problem area and recommend the requisite solution so that those children who are not covered by any NGO could be made a part of them 2. Possible audience includes volunteers, donors, clients, and

employees. Does the page provide material for each audience? Is the material useful and up to date? Ans. Both the NGOS are working on providing quality education to the underprivileged children so that in future they could stand on their own feet. Being having a user friendly

website it contains the detail of their Ngo, their trustees, their vision, their client celebs associated with them ,their programmes, and how one can support their noble cause by donating them. Yes all the web pages on their site depict a true picture of their organisation and well the audience to go through the initiatives their goals, aspiration, dreams etc.The material is frequently updated so as to provide the audience the quality information about the foundation and also trying to expand its reach so as to cover more of underprivileged children who are deprived of education so as to help them to stand on their feets in the future.

3. Can you think of ways that the page could better serve their audience? Ans. Both the NGOs have a proper website which is user friendly and has almost every relevant information. It has also links to follow it on various social networking sites such as face book. so as to facilitate the task of the clients who want to be a part of the noble cause which they have started in their portal describes out the vision, initiatives, programmes, photo gallery, their info, how one can associate with them, their disclosures, how one can reach out their children, partnership, media and each and every aspect. Following things to be improved: No search tab in the webpage to find desired information . Adding interesting videos of their events or short stories to the home page to generate interest. Details about their updating of website are not mentioned. The webpage doesnt have a feedback tab .
