WHAT IS THE 10TH TERM
IN THE SERIES ..
357,363,369…
• IT IS AN AP
• Basic formulae is : Tn = a+(n-1)d
• A=first term, d=difference between
2 terms.
• 357+(10-1)6
• =357+54
• =411 Ans.

www.afterschoool.tk
How many terms are there
in the series:
201,208,215 … to 369?
• It is also AP (arithmetic progression)
• 201+(n-1)*7 = 369
• 7n – 7 = 369-201
• 7n=168+7 =175
• N=175/7 = 25 ans.

www.afterschoool.tk
What will be the 10th term
in the series: 7,14,28 ..?
• Is it 70
• No –sorry
• It is a geometric progression.
• = A*R^(n-1)
• A = first term, R = ratio of second term
from first = 14/7 = 2
• =7 * 2 ^(9)
• =7*512 = 3584 Ans.

www.afterschoool.tk
What will come next in the
series: ½ ¾ 5/8 7/16 ?
• The numerator is in AP
• The denominator is in GP.
• The answer is : 9 / 32 ans.

www.afterschoool.tk
What will come next in the
series: 0,4,18,48,100 ..
• It is the difference of cube and square.
• 1^3 – 1^2 = 0
• 2^3 – 2^2 = 4
• 3^3 – 3^2 = 18
• 4^3 – 4^2 = 48
• 5^3 – 5^2 = 100
• Difference of 216-36 = 180 ans.

www.afterschoool.tk
What is x:
8,9,8,7,10,9,6,11,10,x,12?
• There are three series:
• Ist series: 8,7,6,..
• IInd series: 9,10,11 ..
• IIIrd series: 8,9,10 ..
• Thus the answer is 5 (as per first
series).

www.afterschoool.tk
Which term of the series
5,8,11,14, .. Is 320 ?
• This is AP
• 5+(n-1)3 = 320
• 3n-3 = 315
• 3n = 318
• N = 106 Ans.

www.afterschoool.tk
What will come next:
165,195,255,285,345 ..?
• First no. is 15*11, second is 15*13, so on.
Each number is multiplied by a prime
number with 15 (in series).
• The prime number series is :
11,13,17,19,23,29 so on.
• Last number is 15*23. next prime number
is 29.
• 15*29 = 435 Ans.

www.afterschoool.tk
What will come next in
series:
66,36,18 ?
• Each number is product of digits of
the preceding numbers.
• 6*6 =36
• 3*6 = 18
• 1*8 = 8 Ans.

www.afterschoool.tk
What will come next :
4,10,28,82,244,730?
• Each number is on the line increasing
power of 3 +1
• Alternatively, we can calculate these
number by multiplying by 3 and
reducing 2 from that.
• 730*3 = 2190-2=2188 ans.

www.afterschoool.tk
What will come next:
3,6,5,20,7,42,9,72 ?
• There are two series:
• 3,5,7,9,11 so on
• II series is:
• 6,20,42,72 (increasing 14 – next + 8 in
row)
• Another logic is to multiply the first digit
by 2,4,6,8,10 – in the series – and first
digit is increasing by 2.
• Thus next item is 11 Ans.

www.afterschoool.tk
What will come next:
4,5,9,18,34,59 ..?
• We are adding 1,4,9,16,25,36,49 .. In
a row (these are squares of numbers
in a row )
• 1 is square of 1,4 is square of 2, and
so on.
• Next number will be: 59+36 = 95 Ans.

www.afterschoool.tk
What will come next:
1,2,3,6,9,18,27,54?
• Once we are multiplying by 2 and
next we are multiplying by 1.5. In this
way we get 54 by multiplying by 2.
thus now we multiplying 1.5 * 54 we
get: 81 Ans.

www.afterschoool.tk
What will come next:
19,2,38,3,114,4,456,5?
• 2280 ans

www.afterschoool.tk
What will come next:
3,7,15,31,63,127?
• Here we are multiplying each number
by 2 and adding 1 in that.
• 3*2+1 = 7
• 7*2+1 = 15
• So on.
• 255 Ans.

www.afterschoool.tk
Among 5 persons, V is taller than M, but not as
tall as R. J is taller than D, but shorter than
M. Who is tallest?

• From Ist line: r>v>M

• From II line: M>J>D
• Combining these, we get R as tallest.
• Ans.

www.afterschoool.tk
We have 4 numbers, when we add or subtract them, we
get results from 1 to 40 (all numbers). We take or or
more numbers. Which are these numbers: options are :
I 1,5,15,20 II 1,3,9,27 III: 2,8,18, 20

• By hit and trial

• 1,3,9,27 will give you any number
between 1 to 40 ans.

www.afterschoool.tk
Delhi and Kolkata both have population
of 1 crore in 2000. Delhi has a growth
of 5% next year and decline of 2% in
next year and so on. Kolkata had a
consistent growth of 2%. Which city
will have more population at the end of
2004 and by what %?

• Population of Kolkata will be 1.082

crore but that of Delhi will be 1.058
crore. Thus population of Kolkata will
be more than Delhi by 2% approx. at
the end of 2004.

Afterschooolian Rahul can solve 50
question of maths or 40 questions of
English in one hour. He gets 60 minutes.
He spends 20% time reading the paper..
He attempted 20 English questions.
How many questions did he attempt of
maths in remaining time?
• Total time left: 60-12 = 48
• Time taken for one english question: 60/40 = 1.5 ;
total time for english: 20*1.5 = 30. Time left : 18.
time requried for one question of maths: 60/50 =
1.2 so number of question: 18/1.2 = 15 Ans.
