About ITER ::

The Institute of Technical Education and Research (ITER), established in 1996-97, is located at Bhubaneswar and is spread over 40 acres of landscaped area within the corporation limit of Bhubaneswar. It is 8 kilometers from Bhubaneswar Railway Station, 4 kilometers from the Airport and 2 kilometers from the Govt. bus stand. The institute is responsive to the changing demands of the society. ITER has attained the status of a premier institution of engineering and technology in eastern India. National Board of Accreditation (AICTE) has accredited and reaccreditaed all its eligible programmes. ITER has gained respectability in technical education for its innovative curriculum, impressive placement, industries interface and well qualified faculty members. The institute has an enrolment of nearly 5600 students who follow a pre-announced academic calendar. The institute has MOU with IIT Bhubaneswar, IMMT Bhubaneswar, NALCO, CIPET, Infosys, Mindtree, Hexaware, and Wipro to orient the teachers about the needs of the research, development and industrial consultancy. Accordingly students are constantly motivated to apply the knowledge and skill.The students are sensitized and groomed to work in an environment characterized by changing technology and transnational mobility. ROBOTICS CLUB The ITER Robotics Club was established in 2007. IRC is a learning center which focuses on using robotics as means to i student's interest and further challenge their intellect in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, (S.T. analytical, and strategic thinking. We offer a variety of programs for students focusing on engaging hands-on explorat robot design skill, building, and programming. The placement cell of ITER identifies the industry needs and demands from time to time and prepares its graduating engineering and MCA students who are on the threshold of an exciting career in the field of technology accordingly. The placement cell is committed to continuous learning, and creating positive ideas, through rigorous training which prepares the young techies for a successful career. Our primary objective is to enrich students' human capital through the creation of a learning environment. We are dedicated to help our students to achieve worthwhile positions in different fields in the corporate sectors. Students' communication skills are developed through communication and personality development courses. ITER has signed an MOU with Infosys Technologies under Infosys Campus connect program to train the final year students. ITER has also signed an MOU with Hexaware Technologies limited to establish a Nodal Centre for Hexaware at ITER referred to as the Hexaware Academic Centre for Excellence (HACE) ITER has signed MOUs with Wipro Technologies & Mahindra & Mahindra (Auto Sector). The institute conducts sessions to make the pre-final and final year students industry ready.

The Institution provides facilities for hostel accommodation for both boys and girls. The hostels are spacious, safe and secured with a cordial environment and surrounded by pleasant landscapes. A hygienic kitchen has been provided in each hostel with large dining halls. The rooms are well furnished. ITER has two in-campus girls' hostels accommodating one thousand students. Both the hostels have round the clock Wi-Fi connectivity and medical facility. Similarly, ITER has four boys' hostels accommodating one thousand students. Proper hygienic condition and strict supervision is maintained throughout.

ITER has its dedicated transport for the day scholars, covering entire Bhubaneswar. Route plans are chalked out keeping in mind the convenience of the students. The institute has deployed twelve medium sized buses so as to save time for students in commuting to and from the institute.

The institute makes all out efforts to bring-out the hidden talents of the students and nourish in them leadership qualities, excellent communication skills and a developed personality, so that they grow up as professionals of global standards to flourish in professional career.

Holding up of regular yoga sessions and meditation practices are also a feature to encourage students for developing their individual talent and health. This is also aimed at building their positive attitude and providing them relief from feelings of burden and disappointment, if any.

As per Hon'ble Supreme Court's judgement the institute ensures a ragging free environment both inside the academic premises and hostels. An anti-ragging cells under the Chairmanship of Prof. (Dr.) B.K. Sarap functions for the prevention of ragging in all its forms. Further, the Cell has senior faculty members as members who counsel the students to be aware of Hon'ble Supreme Court's judgement and how to abide by it.

The Institute has a very good canteen where snacks, vegetarian fast food, hot and cold drinks, ice cream, etc. are available to cater to the needs of students and staff serving the palate of every kind. The well laid out tables, neat serving counter excellent sanitation and cosy atmosphere make it a most frequented place in the Institute. The added attraction is the fruit juice kiosk set up by Himachal Pradesh state undertaking..

The Institute has the facility for outdoor treatment in the campus. In case of emergency students are taken to the SUM

In a pragmatic approach to Institute - Industry interface Siksha O Anusandhan University has signed MOUs with CIPET, HEXAWARE, IMMT, INFOSYS, NALCO, WIPRO and, MINDTREE. The MOUs mostly envisage : Industrial visit by the students / in-plant training / students' projects. Human Resources exchange programme. Jointly conducting short term courses, seminars and symposia. Utilizing the infrastructure facilities. Developing computer and web based training. Developing technology support. Acheiving qulaity and productivity improvement. HOSPITAL, which is three kilometers away from the Institute. SUM HOSPITAL, the state-of-the-art modern hospital creates images of hope, happiness and well-being. The dream of Siksha O' Anusandhan to build an ultra modern 750 bedded hospital having latest medical facilities with a team of dedicated & efficient Doctors and Nursing staffs has become true. The hospital is widely recognized as the modern health care center in the state & adjoining areas. It started functioning from July 2004 having 500 beds, 120 cabins with multi speciality facilities.

Admission Procedure ::
The students are admitted through SAAT/AIEEE or any equivalent National level entrance test. There is also provision of Lateral Entry of 10% of sanctioned intake for Diploma holders directly to the 3 rd Semester in their respective branch of study as per the University guidelines. All students admitted to the Institute shall have to abide by the rules and regulations of the Institute. Decision of the Institute's authorities in this regard is binding on all students. Students admitted to the Institute have to give an undertaking to the above effect countersigned by the parents / guardian. Reservation

Student Discipline ::
Students shall maintain discipline and decorum, both inside and outside the Institute and hostel premises. They shall abide by the rules and regulations of the Institution and the University and shall not indulge in any objectionable conduct such as breach of discipline, disobedience, reprehensible conduct and disorderly behaviour including ragging. They must extend courtesy and cooperation to all the employees of the Institution. If it is found that a student has committed any offence, he / she will be called upon to explain his / her conduct and if his / her explanation is not satisfactory, the Dean of the Institute, being the disciplinary authority, may take disciplinary actions, such as imposition of fines, suspension and rustication from the College as he deems fit. Ragging in any form inside or outside the institute and hostel premises is strictly prohibited. Ragging being a cognisable offence, the punishment for ragging may be summary expulsion from the institute. Consumption of alcohol / narcotics (Gutkha) and smoking inside or outside the Institute and hostel premises is banned. Any student found under such influence has to face punitive action. Use of cell-phone in classrooms, laboratories, examination halls, library, meetings, seminars and conference is strictly prohibited. Any of the following acts will be considered as an act of misconduct and will be severely dealt: Inviting outsiders to the Institute and hostels without the permission of the authorities. Bringing antisocial elements to the Institute and hostel. Unauthorized absence from the class and hostel. Mass absence from classes. Motivating students to boycott classes or demand postponement of examination or tests Taking part / participating in agitation, which may be considered unlawful by the authorities. Willful participation in vandalism or damage to the Institute and Hostel properties. In addition to exemplary punishment the entire loss due to damage will be recovered from the individual or groups. Stealing or mutilating library books and other properties of the Institute and hostel. Misbehavior with fellow students and employees of the Institute. Adoption of unfair means in any form Any other act, which may be viewed by the authorities as an act of indiscipline. All students are issued with identity cards, which should be in their possession while in the Institute or outside. The same should be produced whenever required.

Department of Mechanical Engineering ::

The department was set up a decade ago. Now, it has graduated to offer M.Tech. & Ph.D. Programmes in emerging areas relevant to the context of industry in the present scenario. As a core branch the department grows in rhythm of the needs and demands of the global industries. In recognition of progress and excellence in teaching, research and infrastructure achieved by the department, the under graduate programmme has obtained the accreditation from National Board of Accreditation (NBA) of AICTE in 2004 and re-accredited in the year 2008. The department has started Ph. D. programs from 2005 under SOA University and admission to Ph.D programme is open to students twice a year for the Autumn and Spring semesters. Nine students have registered for the Ph. D. program till date. Mechanical Engineering is a creative discipline that draws upon a number of basic and applied sciences to design, build, and optimize the devices, machines, processes, and systems that involve mechanical forces, work and energy. It is one of the most diverse fields of engineering influencing almost all.phpects of our life. In the light of recent modern technologies, the job description of mechanical engineers has changed substantially. Applied higher mathematics, engineering mechanics, computational techniques and design technology are still the core disciplines. Besides those, today's mechanical engineers are dealing with subjects like thermodynamics, electro-mechanical technology, manufacturing technology and management, material science and simulation. They will also face interdisciplinary problems where they will have to employ their soft skills. The program has been adapted to these new requirements. Mechanical engineering is amongst one of the early branches of engineering started in the institute. The department was established in the year 1998 with approval of AICTE for B. Tech. program with intake strength of 40 students. Looking into the rapid growth of infrastructure in the department, the student intake has been increased to 360 in three phases. The M. Tech. program (Thermal engineering specialization) with intake strength of 18 students was introduced in 2004-05 academic session. We aim at quality teaching so as to stimulate intellectual curiosity, creativity and innovativeness of the students. With a dedicated team consisting of highly qualified and experienced faculty members in all streams of mechanical engineering, the department aims at providing education and research of worldclass level. The department is broadly divided into three academic groups: Design engineering, Production engineering and Thermal engineering. The department has an excellent placement record and many of our alumni are holding top positions in government and private sectors. Department of Civil Engineering ::

As a core branch department has grown to eminence with renowned faculty, updated curricula, and c defined research areas. The three identified areas of academic curriculum and research are concrete, c infrastructures systems and environmental engineering. The department understands the social responsibility of incorporating new materials to minimize construction residuals for the preservation environment. As the department has advanced laboratories, it is offering consultancy services to the Department of Water Resources, Govt. of Orissa. The department is providing consultancy services i the areas of Civil Engineering. It offers B.Tech., M.Tech. and Ph.D. programmes. Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering ::

The analog and digital electronics circuit laboratories are well equipped with circuit simulat packages like Multisim, Tanner tools and Pspice etc. The signal processing laboratories hav advanced softwares like Matlab (version 7.1) with toolboxes i.e. image process, fuzzy loigc genetic algorithm, signal processing. The microprocessor and microcontroller laboratory houses hardware and softwares like Kei 51, Keil MCB 2919-ED, Reil MCBST M32E-ED, Keiliu MDK-ARM. Basic Electronics Laboratory

The Basic Electronics Laboratory provides basic hands-on-training at the Undergraduate lev This laboratory introduces students to identify and learn basic characteristics of basic components like diodes, BJTs, FETs, OPAMPs and Digital gates. CROs, Function Generato Regulated Power Supply, Bread Boards are available in this laboratory.
Analog Electronic Circuits Laboratory

This lab takes care of the understanding of various electronic circuits taught at the 3 rd seme level. Stress is given for design and implementation of the circuits both using components a bread boards and using simulation softwares like MultiSim and P-Spice. CROs, Function Generators, Regulated Power Supply, Bread Boards, are available in this laboratory also.
Digital Electronic Circuits Laboratory

This lab takes care of the understanding of various digital electronic circuits taught at the 4 semester level. Stress is given for design and implementation of the circuits both using components and bread boards and using simulation languages like Verilog and VHDL. CRO Function Generators, Regulated Power Supply and Bread Boards are available in this labora like other laboratory.
Communication Engineering Laboratory

This lab takes care of the understanding and hands on training of various analog and digital communication techniques. It provides ample opportunities for a student to understand vario

nuances of analog and digital communication. The equipments like DSOs, CROs, Function Generators, and Communication Trainer Kits are available in this laboratory.
Communication System Laboratory

This lab takes care of the understanding and hands on training of various analog and digital communication systems like Microwave, Optical And Satellite communication systems. It provides ample opportunities for a student to understand various nuances of the above complicated and advanced communication systems. The equipments available in this lab are Microwave Benches, Fiber Optics Trainers, Satellite Trainer, Spectrum Analyzer, TV Train kits.
Digital Signal Processing Laboratory

This laboratory takes care of the understanding and hands on training of various signal processing techniques and algorithms. It provides ample opportunities for a student to under various.phpects of the many signal processing techniques. Students are encouraged to devel algorithms and implement both in MATLAB and DSP Processors. This laboratory is also us both B.Tech. and M.Tech. students. In addition to the above this laboratory also facilitates students who want to do minor and major projects in the area of Signal Processing. The maj equipments in this lab are Personal Computers, MATLAB 7.0.1, TMS 6713 DSP Processor Code Composer Studio.

Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering ::

The Department of Electronics & Electrical Engineering is an inter disciplinary branch involvin fundamentals of other branches, such as, Electrical Engineering, Applied Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering, and Electronics & Communication Engineering. As there is an increasing need for multifaceted approach and applications to new age technology, this departm gathers more significance today. Specific to the department, it has customized a computer labor with 60 Pentium-V systems for Digital Design, Verilog and VHDL faculty software and offers d design tools which would form a part of an elaborate set-up.

Department of Electrical Engineering ::

As a core branch the department lives up to the developments taking place in the field of electricity generation through hydro, thermal, nuclear and nonconventional sources. Similarly the department studies the distribution of electricity and use of new materials being used in different applications. T undergraduate programme in the department has been re-accredited by NBA, AICTE and offers M.T programme in power electronics and drives. Eminent professors are engaged in quality research wit enrollment of 7 Ph.D. scholars.
FEATURES

The department has its well-equipped specific laboratories for Electrical Machines, Controls, and Instrumentation, Power Systems, Power Electronics , Basic Electrical Engineering, Network Device Electric Drives. The Machine Laboratory is equipped with modern electrical machines. The department has its own computer laboratories to facilitate computer Aided Electrical Machine Design for final year B. Tech. students and the students pursuing the Master's programme.

Starting with an intake capacity of 60 in 1996 the Department of Electrical Engineering is now cater to the growing need of 120 students in 2007. It has also paved the way for a Master's Programme wi Power Electronics & Drives as specialization. Because of its academic excellence, the undergraduat programme offered by the department has been accredited by National Bureau for Accreditation (NB AICTE. To further its academic and research activities, the Department has already built up its infrastructural and human resource facilities in a big way. The second batch of Post Graduates in Po Electronics and Drive will pass out in September'2009. Students have also registered for Ph.D. programmes in Electrical Engineering.

The department has its own well equipped specific laboratories for Electrical Machines, Control and Instrumentation, Power Systems, Power Electronics, Basic Electrical, Network Devices and Electric Drives.

A Computational Laboratory having many computers have been added to this department for carryi Computer Aided research activities in this department. MODROB (Modernisation and Removal of Obsolescence) is regularly being practiced in all the laboratories. Moreover a Robotics Laboratory i expected to function shortly.

The Machine Laboratory is equipped with modern electrical machines : single and three phase transformers with multi winding, DC & AC Motor Generator Sets, Induction and Synchronous Mot and Single Phase Motors to name a few.

The Control and Instrumentation Laboratory have Amplidyne Set, DC Position Control System, Da Acquisition System, PID Controller etc.

The Power Electronics Laboratory is equipped with Converter Rectifiers and Inverters both single p and three phase, Cyclo Converter, IGBT based Inverter and other modern equipment in related field

The Power System Lab is equipped with Relay Trainers, Oil Testing Kit, Current Injection Circuit, Artificial Transmission Line etc.

Basic Electrical Engineering and Network Devices Laboratory is meant for verification of Basic Principles of Electrical Engineering and Laws of Electrical Networks. The Department has its own w equipped Library having many books of international repute for faculty members & students to boo their knowledge.

Besides, the Department is slated to have its own computer lab to facilitate Computer Aided Electric Machine Design, software based project work for final year Under Graduate students, students in th Graduate Program. This lab also promotes the faculty members for in-house R&D programme.

Interested faculties are regularly sponsored to carry out Post Graduate and Doctoral research progra reputed institute outside SOA University. Conferences, seminars, distinguished lecturers are organized regularly in the department.
Features:

Running an M.Tech. programme in Power Electronics and Drives. Sends teachers for higher studies with full pay. Last year seven persons have availed this facility. Permits teacher of the department to pursue M.Tech. & Ph.D. programme in the college. Teachers of the department pursuing M.Tech. are given 50% concession as tuition fees. 95% placement of students till this academic year.

Department of Computer Science and Engineering ::

In recent years if any branch of engineering has posed multifaceted challenges and an equal degr extensive research it is computer science and engineering. Today, the branch is the epicenter of a other branches, including the world of entertainment and multimedia. The branch is one of the m sought after courses by the undergraduate and postgraduate students. The department is also eng in advanced research having an enrollment of 8 Ph.D. candidates. The B.Tech. programme has b re-accredited by National Board of Accreditation (AICTE).

The department has five laboratories out of which two are networking and computer organizatio laboratories equipped with different type of trainer kits and networking equipments and the rema three laboratories are equipped with 200 computers. These laboratories are connected to the networking environment with 4 servers i.e. ALPHA server (with unlimited Unix), Window NT, Netware and internet web server. ALPHA is a high-end server equipped with ALPHA processor 2164A @600 MHz, 128 KBL 1 cache and 2 MB on board L2 cache. I/ts OS engine, true 64 Uni unlimited user license is quite powerful and includes unlimited license for C, C++ and various multimedia products. One laboratory is equipped with multimedia tools and advanced computing resources for research and project activities. Software application packages like Visual Studio, ORACLE 10g, SQL SERVER, LINUM, MATLAB-7 and various multimedia tools along with programming suits like C, C++ and JAVA are made available to all students and staff. Further, w proxy server is radio linked with STPI server thus providing 4 MBPS bandwidth and another 4M leased internet access facility has been provided through BSNL. Through lease line facility all students and staff members get internet services for 24 hours. Wi-Fi facility for internet access is provided to staff and students inside the institute premises and hostels. Presently the department 39 faculty members and 7 technical staff, totally dedicated to render best possible help to the stu in an interactive manner. Sincere efforts have yielded fruitful results. Each year our students sec positions within the top ten in the BPUT examinations. Presently the department has two batche students under SOAU.

The department of Computer Science and Engineering was established in 1996 with an intake of which was further increased to 120 and consequently to 240. The department is also running M.T programme in Computer Science & Engineering since 2003 with a sanctioned strength of 25.
FEATURES

The department is well equipped with adequate laboratory infrastructure and necessary staff strength. The department emphasizes on interactive teaching and research.

The department has five laboratories out of which two are Networking and Computer Organiz laboratories and the remaining three laboratories are equipped with 200 computers.

200 computers are connected in the laboratories to the networking environment with 6 servers HP UNIX, Windows 2003 Server, RedHat Enterprise LINUX 5 Server, Novell Netware Server, Solaris Server, Internet Web Server. The staff and the students avail internet service round the clock.

Placement Cell
The Placement Cell of ITER identifies the industry needs and demands from time to time and prepares its graduating engineering and MCA students who are on the threshold of an exciting career in the field of technology. The placement cell is committed to continuous learning, and creating positive ideas, through rigorous training to prepare the young techies. Our primary objective is to enrich students' human capital through the creation of a learning environment. We are dedicated to help our students achieve worthwhile positions in different fields in the corporate sectors. Students' communication skills are honed through communication and organizational behavior courses. For overall personality development regular counseling sessions are organized on various.phpects of personality development like positive thinking, body language, time management, stress management and communicative skills. We invite psychologists and career counselors to conduct these sessions, motivate the students and help them to improve the power of assimilation and retention. We also organize off-campus recruitment programme, to facilitate the students of other technical Institute of the State to learn and improvise them.
