5 Setting up and initial operation of the unit

The unit is equipped with site-feet which are applicable to alignment of the transport height and horizontal alignment of the unit. The unit must be adjusted to be able to accept (hand over) PCB from the previous station (to the next station) smoothly. The width of the conveyor unit should be set as same as the one of PCB decided to place on line. Then, put one PCB on the transport track. Unit offset and longitudinal alignment can be adjusted. New adjustment if necessary. Caution:

The unit can be set only in stop mode („Unit stands by“) .

Do not collide the transport track during fixing the site-feet (dumping action causes back and forth movement of the unit).

Tighten the check nuts after all settings.

Finish-up work:

Connect the unit to electric and pneumatic supply. Install interface cable (refer to point 11 Description of interface p. 24). Switch on the mains and quit the emergency-stop message with the „Alarm“ key.

5.2 Base position set up

In this sub-programme, the height of the first magazine pitch in relation to the transport conveyor can be set. Either numerical or teach-in input can be carried out for adjusting the value. Numerical input: only change the figure shown in the menu field. The figure shows the increment of the encoder from the reference point in form of numbers. Increase or decrease of the figure varies the insertion height (20 units corresponds to 1 mm). It is applicable to the micro-adjustments.

Teach-in input: press „Start“ to activate this function. Arrows „“ and „“ are shown on the display. The first magazine pitch can be approached by means of the arrows. The height should be adjusted in a way that the first magazine pitch is slightly below the transport height of the delivery conveyor. To save the input, press „Enter“. The value can be varied afterwards by means of numerical input.

8 Summary of unit function

Automatic operation of the magazine loading unit:

Press „Start“ to activate the device. The magazine loading process begins once at least one magazine is found on the platform after „Start“ is pressed. „Magazine error“ is shown on the display when the magazine buckle on the platform is not closed. Magazine exchange takes places during automatic operation automatically. The unit realises magazine exchange only when a buckle at the magazine platform is open at least for two seconds. The unit starts a new magazine loading process for the on-line magazine independently. Both magazine acceptances are supervised by the buckles. Magazine exchange can be carried out during operation. The unit assumes the relevant magazine is empty after one magazine exchange. The unit positions the movable table after every magazine exchange in order to prevent any table position error during magazine loading process.

9 Operation procedure

Place two empty magazines on the platform and fix them by means of the magazine buckles. The sensor system, which releases the functional procedure, is integrated after fastening the buckles. When the buckles are open more than two seconds, the unit realises there is a magazine exchange and continues the automatic process independently after closing the buckles. If the unit is in stand-by mode, press „Start“ to activate the unit (at least one buckle must be closed). The lifting axle drives with the platform to the handover height where the first pitch is and starts the magazine loading process in co-ordination with interface signal. Once the on-line magazine is completely loaded, the platform switches sideways to align the stand-by magazine. The unit can operate with either one or two magazines.

not available

The unit is equipped with an automatic keyway for the transport width. This function is active

in automatic mode when „automatic“ is set in menu point of keyway - Option- (refer to p. 13).

The position of the movable transport cheek of the previous unit can be detected by the built-

in

fork light barrier and the transport width is then adapted automatically. The sensor detects

in

which direction is shifted and proceeds accordingly.

A

reference drive is carried out when there is signal overlapping.

In this case, the width

setting drives to the max. width and then sets the new transport width. By each unit switch-on, the transport width is reviewed which means the width setting drives inwards until the fork light barrier has no more passage and set the defined width thereafter.

Note:

The automatic setting of the transport width takes place only when the appointed station issues a relevant signal via the interface. Hints:

When PCB is found in the unit and the transport width agrees no more with the width of the appointed unit, the unit is put into an interruption state. In this case, PCB must be removed by hand or shift to the manual transport width setting (refer to Test mode 3 („F3“): p. 20).

Description of interface

An interface is required in between adjoining machines for either take-over or hand-over process. Our machines can be equipped with different interfaces. Change of interface always requires suitable connection facilities. Interface modifications without connecting the right connection facilities may produce a functional error and possibly cause an electrical fault. We would be glad to provide you information regarding difficult aspects of modifying interface.

When the unit is equipped with interface under Siemens-Definition, 37-pin AMP plug and socket are used for connection (refer to Siemens). under Siemens-Definition, 37-pin AMP plug and socket are used for connection (refer to Siemens).

13 Error messages and solutions

The error message is shown in the bottom row on the display. Additionally, the unit shows which function is straight initialised during unit initialisation. Initialisation is carried out by switching on the unit and by means of „F1“ key. Thereby, an error can be localised in an easy way.

The entire plant has a false function when the unit comes to an interrupted state during initialisation.

„Emergency-stop“

Emergency stop button is pressed or faulty 24V power supply.

= Unlock emergency stop button (2 pcs per unit) or check 24V fuse.

„ Lifting drive fault“

Lifting drive defect.

= Check motor regulator, check motor, check sliding clutch, check encoder and check light barriers.

„Cover open“

One of the interlock switches is open.

= Close the cover unit

„RAM - ERROR“

System failure

= Switch off the main switch, wait a min. and turn on the main switch again.

„Magazine full“

The on-line magazine is full. The unit can accept no more PCB in this case.

= Carry out magazine exchange.

„Wait for arrival“

When wait time for PCB (refer to Wait time for PCB) is achieved and „inserting mechanism repeat“ is switched off, this message is issued. No PCB arrives on the delivery conveyor.

„Inserting arm“

The pushing mechanism in the magazine is time-supervised which means the unit breaks the automatic mode and an error message is issued if the pusher does not reach its end of stroke after approx. 10 sec.

= Quit alarm message, remove PCB by hand, check the transport width and set the pusher. Start the unit again. The lifting axle proceeds to a magazine pitch.

„defect“

„Table up“

The platform reaches the top emergency limit switch.

= Press the arrow „“ to lower the platform until the emergency limit switch is shut off. (The

automatically)

„Table down“

The platform reaches the bottom emergency limit switch.

= Press the arrow „“ to lift the platform up until the emergency limit switch is shut off.
