Who is responsible for the YELLA Program?

YELLA is designed around six core components that will empower students to be leaders in their universities and communities and distinguish them among their peers. Personal Growth & Development - Students will learn to identify their interests, set goals, learn to express themselves, resolve problems and conflicts, and build selfconfidence. Leadership for Service - Students will participate in a group service-learning project at the school to help them form appreciation for community and volunteerism. Ethics & Values - Students will have the opportunity to reflect on and share personal values and how values influence their behaviors and decisions. Students will be required to keep a journal of their leadership development experiences, reflections, and questions.

What will students learn in the YELLA Program?

Citizenship, Rights, and Responsibilities - Through engagement in projects in their school, students will learn the skills necessary to effectively participate in and effect positive change. By assuming a variety of roles and taking on multiple responsibilities, students discover their identities and their larger roles in their communities and in society as a whole. Global Interaction - Students will be given opportunities to participate in global internetbased projects that encourage them to collaborate with other students across borders and address common global issues.
